Chapter 480 Mr. Blake Said that You Should Share a Room with Him
Back at New East Group, Donovan shot David a pic, asking him to dig up who the dude in the photo was. It was the photo he had got from the mysterious account before.
That evening, Donovan got home and asked Francis, "Still want your mom to crash here?"
"Yeah, totally," Francis replied.
"Then give her a ring."
Francis stared at Donovan for a bit. "Dad, are you just too chicken to call her yourself?"
"Why would I be? Just call her. Use the landline," Donovan said.
With a sigh, Francis picked up the phone. He remembered Chloe's number from the last time Donovan had given it to him.
After the call connected, there was some noise on the other end. "Mom..." Francis's voice came through.
Chloe lit up hearing his voice. "Francis, what's up?"
"Mom, when's your meeting over?" Francis asked, looking up.
"Tomorrow afternoon," Chloe replied.
"Ms. Baker, put it on speaker so we can hear Francis's voice," Isabel and Saoirse urged.
Chloe had no choice but to put it on speaker.
"So, what are your plans after the meeting?" Francis asked.
"I plan to go straight back to school." Chloe's voice got super soft talking to Francis.
"Are you trying to break your promises? You said you would come stay with me," Francis grumbled.
Chloe knew she couldn't break a promise to her kid, suddenly at a loss for words.
"Mom, come on, I'll have Maya prep rooms for all three of you, okay?" Francis said.
"We get to come too? Thanks, Francis. Will we be bothering you?" Isabel said excitedly.
"Not at all. I'm so lonely, I wish you guys would come keep me company. Come on, it's settled." With that, Francis hung up the phone, afraid Chloe would find an excuse to refuse, so he hung up quickly.
"Ms. Baker, you should go tomorrow. Look how pumped Francis is. Don't worry about Mr. Blake; it must have been his idea for Francis to call. Francis used the landline, which means he had to know your number. Francis wouldn't remember it on his own, so it must have been Mr. Blake's idea," Isabel said.
"Alright," Chloe said, admitting that Isabel made a good point.
The next day, the three of them took a cab to Donovan's house, with Donovan absent. Francis was naturally stoked to see Chloe. Seeing Chloe, Maya couldn't help but give her a few extra glances. The relationship between her and Chloe was no longer as simple as it used to be. Both of them tacitly avoided mentioning Jeffery.
Isabel and Saoirse didn't know that Maya was Jeffery's mom, busy admiring the decoration of Donovan's house. Maya set up rooms for Isabel and Saoirse on the first floor but didn't arrange a room for Chloe.
"Where am I staying?" Chloe asked, surprised.
"Mr. Blake said you should share a room with him," Maya said.
Chloe was silent. Isabel and Saoirse pretended not to hear, coughed a couple of times, and turned away.
Chloe pulled Maya aside. "We're divorced, and we're sharing a room?"
"That's Mr. Blake's arrangement. He didn't ask me to prep another room. If you have any objections, you can wait for him to come back," Maya said.
Chloe could only wait anxiously.
Two hours later, Donovan finally returned, his face looking kinda gloomy.
