Chapter 295 Where is the Ring?

A few days ago, Barbara officially joined the cast of "The Aristocrats." This time, she landed the role of the protagonist's fifth wife.

Even though it was a negative character, it had some sympathetic aspects, and it was expected that she might gain a few fans after the show aired.

Upon signing the contract, she received an advance payment of $100,000, which she used to rent a house for her family in Maple Valley. Maria's pressure had been overwhelming for her.

As for the old hag Grandma Morgan, she couldn't be left alone occupying a house in Sunshine Bay City. Since the house was now listed online but hadn't been rented out yet, she had to go there.

Today, Paisley showed up on set claiming that Barbara hadn't properly passed on her assistant duties, and she was upset that Barbara left without discussing her next role with her agent.

Barbara and Paisley officially went their separate ways. Barbara, who was once unknown, became famous among the crew after being slapped.

She stayed quiet, hiding her face and looking pitiful, shedding tears. Paisley was known for her temper in the industry, and everyone felt sorry for Barbara.

They believed that Paisley, who had a reputation for bullying others, would eventually face consequences.

Paisley glanced at the crew and left.

Paisley harbored resentment towards the "The Aristocrats" crew, as they hadn't even asked her, a top-tier actress, to play a role but had instead approached one of her assistants!

Barbara, feeling frustrated today, found some silver lining in getting to know the crew better and expanding her network.

Despite still feeling like a loser compared to Chloe, she held onto hope that things would eventually turn in her favor.

Seeing Chloe with her growing belly and Donovan by her side, Barbara couldn't help but feel jealousy and anger bubbling up inside her.

As she noticed Donovan's untouched coffee, her insecurities started to overwhelm her.

Was he thinking her house was dirty or that her mom's coffee was poisoned, explaining why he hadn't touched it? Barbara's anger was reaching its peak!

Donovan glanced around the large and spacious house, feeling a bit bored as Chloe was still chatting with Grandma Morgan.

"Is the house rented or bought?"

"Oh, rented, $8,000 a month," Barbara replied.

"Not bad."

"Yeah." Barbara thought Donovan was about to talk to her, but he immediately fell silent again.

Barbara felt particularly awkward.

"I'll go get some water for Grandma and Chloe," Barbara said, standing up and going to Grandma Morgan's room.

Chloe was talking to Grandma Morgan, who seemed a bit confused. Chloe noticed that Grandma Morgan had aged significantly since the last time she saw her.

She was already elderly, but now she appeared even more frail and worn out, giving off a sense of decline.

"Where's your mom? Why didn't she come?" Grandma Morgan patted Chloe's hand and asked.

"My mom?" Chloe was slightly stunned, thinking that Daniel and Betty probably hadn't told Grandma Morgan for her sake.

"We didn't tell her," Barbara whispered in Chloe's ear, "Don't mention it."

Chloe thought, 'As expected, they didn't tell her.'

She felt a sense of warmth inside. She didn't realize that the reason they hadn't informed Grandma Morgan was that, to them, Amelia was already considered deceased. It would be pointless to inform her of Amelia's passing again. Amelia's death wasn't significant, and neither was Grandma Morgan. They definitely wouldn't be sharing the news with Grandma Morgan.

"My mom is at home. She asked me to come see you," Chloe said.

"Where's the ring?" Grandma Morgan's mind was not very clear, and she suddenly asked.

Chloe was puzzled. "What ring?"

"Your ring."

Chloe thought for a long time but couldn't remember what ring it was.
