Chapter 612 Are You Feeling Quite Unhappy?
Donovan was sitting on the couch at home when he saw Chloe come in. He only glanced at her briefly.
Chloe went upstairs.
She hadn't noticed that Donovan hadn't called her tonight.
She went to the bedroom, sat on the couch there, and tried to sort things out. What she couldn't accept wasn't that Derek was her brother, but that she had always believed her father, Fred, was faithful. She never expected that he would have a child with Pamela, which shattered her perception of him.
Couldn't Fred tell they were two different people? How could he do this to Paula?
When Chloe came in, she didn't see Paula; she was probably asleep.
Donovan went upstairs.
"Where were you tonight? Why didn't you come back for dinner?" Donovan asked her casually.
"An old classmate came by unexpectedly," Chloe said offhandedly.
She stood up, intending to go to the bathroom to clear her head.
Just as Chloe stood up, she suddenly remembered that Derek had mentioned that Donovan was the one investigating this matter. Since Donovan knew, could he also know that Derek had come to Maple Valley?
"You know Derek came, right?" she asked Donovan, who was sitting on the couch.
"You know he's your brother. Are you unhappy about it?" Donovan said slowly, with a hint of mockery and amusement. "So, you've been sitting in the room for so long?"
Anger quickly filled Chloe's heart, but what had upset her earlier wasn't that Derek was her brother; it was Fred's infidelity that made her lose faith in love.
Chloe didn't want to deal with Donovan and turned to go to the bathroom, but Donovan grabbed her clothes from behind.
"Leaving without explaining?" Donovan continued to mock Chloe.
Chloe got even angrier, slapped Donovan's hand away, and went to the bathroom.
But before she reached the bathroom door, Donovan pulled her into his arms from behind.
Chloe was forced to half-lie against his chest, feeling annoyed. "He's my brother. Are you happy now? Satisfied?"
Chloe had been angry all night.
"Are you this mad because your dream of having a lover on Aurora Isle and another on Emerald Isle is shattered?" Donovan asked again.
Chloe turned her face away, not speaking, her face still clouded with anger.
"Get lost!" Chloe was very irritated, and Donovan only made her angrier.
She got into bed, pulled the covers over herself, and went to sleep.
Chloe never expected that Fred had relationships with both sisters. It completely shattered her worldview. She felt it was unfair to Paula, even though she knew Fred was unaware. But in Chloe's mind, Fred was no longer perfect.
Since Fred and Paula weren't Donovan's family, he didn't understand Chloe's feelings. He thought Chloe was upset only because of Derek, but that wasn't the case.
The covers were pulled away, and Chloe opened her eyes to see Donovan staring at her.
Just as Donovan was about to say something, his phone rang.
He glanced at it; it was Charles.
Charles was still in Pearl Peak City.
Donovan answered.
"Donovan, something's happened. Someone sent a story to the media, and they think it's big news. They're about to publish it! The story is very detailed. I've done everything I can on my end," Charles said, sounding a bit anxious.
"Wait, I'll be right there!" Donovan said, hurriedly putting on his clothes.
