Chapter 62: Are You Pregnant?
Donovan began making the call.
"In the past, I asked you to vacate Chloe's dormitory. Did you assign it to someone else?" Donovan sounded oppressed but had no choice, and he purposely put the call on speakerphone, so Jacob could hear as well and discard his suspicions.
"Not yet. Do you want it back?" The personnel director's tone was tolerant.
"Yes, Chloe's belongings are still in the dormitory. It should be kept for her."
"Alright, Mr. Blake." The personnel director hung up.
Jacob and Paisley were disappointed. It seemed that Donovan really had returned Chloe's dormitory before.
Jacob still had some doubts. Weren't they in a contractual marriage?
"That's about right. I will have Sofia bring over my prenatal examination form." Chloe said in a relaxed tone, taking out her phone and starting to type.
"Aren't you going to make a call?" Donovan's question was directed at both Chloe and meant for Jacob and Paisley to hear.
"I will call, but then wouldn't you find out where I hide my things? I won't let you know."
Chloe sneaked a glance at her grandpa, who was smiling.
Perhaps he already considered Jacob's words absurd. And moreover, he was going to become a great-grandfather, feeling the joy of the family, just like this.
Chloe felt a little sad. What if one day her grandpa found out that all of this was a lie? How would he feel?
Wouldn't it devastate him?
Chloe quickly sent a message on WhatsApp to a classmate named Jane.
Jane was an obstetrician at a maternity hospital.
Jane, Sofia, and Chloe were good friends when they were in school. It was just that Chloe had more contact with Sofia because they worked at the same company.
[Jane, I need your help urgently. Can you provide me with a prenatal examination form? I'm three weeks pregnant, and I will send Sofia to the hospital to pick it up later.]
[Oh, are you preparing to rely on having a son to take control of the household?]
[Hurry, please. Sofia will be at the hospital in ten minutes.]
Without asking any more questions, the other party simply replied with a hand gesture [Ok].
Soon, Jane finished preparing the form and took a picture of it for Chloe.
Chloe said, [I will have Sofia pick it up immediately.]
Jane asked again, [Tell me about your love life. Sofia mentioned that you got married to Mr. Blake from your company. Is this to fend off a potential mistress?
Chloe didn't have time to reply, so she quickly sent a WhatsApp message to Sofia: "If you're free now, go to the obstetrics and gynecology hospital and ask Jane to bring me the prenatal check-up report. Deliver it to hillside villa. There's a big reward."
"Are you pregnant?"
"I'll tell you the details later. It's urgent. There's a big reward."
"I'm leaving now, don't forget about the reward."
After sending the WhatsApp message, Chloe let out a sigh of relief.
"Okay, my roommate will bring me the prenatal check-up report later. Let's eat first," Chloe said, pretending to be relaxed, praying that Sofia wouldn't make any mistakes.
Paisley and Jacob had their own thoughts. Jacob wanted money, and Paisley wanted to see if the two really had a "contract marriage." But they didn't expect the situation to develop unexpectedly - Chloe was actually pregnant!
Donovan occasionally cast a glance at Chloe. He had known all along that she was not ordinary. Now, in the face of danger, she remained calm and told lies that deceived everyone, making even him doubt if her pregnancy was real.
Sofia arrived about forty-five minutes later.
She looked around Donovan's house. It was truly luxurious.
Chloe placed the prenatal check-up report on the table in front of Donovan.
Donovan took a quick glance at it. The date was a week ago.
He frowned slightly as he looked at Chloe. So, was her pregnancy really true or not?
Paisley also took a look at the prenatal check-up report. As an actress, she could easily tell if something was real or fake. But this report was clearly not fake, it even came with a B-scan report enclosed in a medical bag.
Paisley's face turned completely pale.
She wanted to kill Chloe.
Chloe, however, felt embarrassed to show the prenatal check-up report to her grandfather because she knew it was fake.
"I'm going to be an uncle?" Jacob originally wanted to expose the truth of their contract marriage and make Chloe pay him money, but he fell into his own trap.
"So, Uncle, aren't you giving me a gift for being pregnant?" Chloe confidently reached out to Jacob.
Jacob had an extremely awkward expression on his face, but with grandfather present, he couldn't refuse. Knowing that Chloe was indeed pregnant, he took one thousand dollars out of his pocket and gave it to her.
He wanted to sell Chloe, but he ended up being the one paying.
He left dejectedly.
Soon after, Paisley also left in an abnormal state.
Grandfather had a few words with Chloe about taking care of her health and asked the aunt to make some delicious food for her.
Then, grandfather went to take a nap.
Sofia and Chloe chatted downstairs for a while.
Chloe said she had successfully taken back her dormitory from Donovan.
"Really? How did you take it back?" Sofia was also excited. She didn't want to share a house with someone else.
"I used tactics, of course."
