Chapter 275 Donovan Protected Chloe So Much
Paisley's attention shifted quickly, no longer fixated on Barbara's mistakes as before.
Only by diverting Paisley's attention to Chloe could Barbara focus on her career.
"What to do? What to do?" Paisley suddenly grew anxious. She had thought Chloe had no chance with Donovan before.
Suddenly, Paisley's expression changed again. "If it's his, why doesn't he say so?"
"It's simple. He's afraid you might try to harm Chloe's child! Donovan is protecting Chloe so much," Barbara, a master at sowing discord, said.
Paisley grew increasingly anxious. Having a child would ensure ongoing contact and future inheritance issues. Donovan was even staying with Chloe, and they hadn't divorced yet.
"Don't just talk; what should we do? At this stage of the pregnancy, what can I do?" Paisley said.
Poisoning or pushing Chloe down was out of the question; it could kill her, and that would be a crime.
"Get Chloe to marry Brayden quickly!" Barbara said, "I'll have my cousin persuade Brayden's mom!"
"Will it work?"
"I'll try my best!"
Before Chloe got pregnant, Barbara had given several suggestions, all of which had earned her Paisley's wrath.
This time, she was smarter, involving more intermediaries. Even if the plan failed, it wouldn't be her fault; it could be Jacob's fault or Brayden's mom's fault.
Barbara wanted to keep Paisley calm so she could focus on auditioning for "The Aristocrats."
As long as Paisley's attention was on Chloe, she wouldn't notice Barbara going out for auditions.
"Then I'll wait for you. Don't mess it up this time. If you do, I'll inform every director and producer in Maple Valley, and you'll have no roles to play. Let's see who's more powerful, you or me," Paisley said, tapping Barbara's forehead.
Paisley had agreed to let Barbara audition.
She had figured it out; even if Barbara succeeded, she would only get a minor role.
"Alright," Barbara agreed.
Barbara found Jacob, who had been severely wronged by Donovan. After his breakup with Karen and the miscarriage of their child, Jacob was left with nothing. His once fierce and rebellious nature had turned into timidity.
Destroying Donovan was out of the question for Jacob, who was now terrified of him. However, pushing for Chloe to marry Brayden was Jacob's original intent, and he was willing to try. Brayden was much easier to manipulate than Donovan.
Moreover, Jacob knew that Brayden had just failed to propose to Chloe, making it a good opportunity.
That evening, Jacob went to Dylan's house.
As a driver, he knew Dylan wasn't home today.
"Dylan isn't here today. Why don't you come back tomorrow?" Maria said to Jacob.
"Oh, I'm not looking for Mr. Perez; I'm here to see you. It's about my sister," Jacob said.
"Chloe? Why bring her up again?" Maria was somewhat reluctant.
The last incident with the shirt had left her unhappy, and Dylan had to explain many times that Chloe's child wasn't Brayden's. She had been convinced.
But these days, Brayden would come home and lock himself in his room without speaking. Maria was worried about her son. Even if she didn't like her daughter-in-law, she still cared for her son.
"My sister's child is Brayden's, you know? My sister told me herself. But Donovan forcibly took her back, and Chloe isn't happy. Donovan mistakenly believes the child is his. Chloe misses Brayden; she even confided in me the other day. Mr. Perez, because of what happened with Donovan back then, doesn't dare acknowledge his grandson, and he doesn't believe it. Ma'am, you should know Chloe is carrying boy-girl twins, boy-girl twins!"
Maria frowned slightly, thinking, 'Who should I believe?'
" Okay, I understand. You can go back now. I'll talk to Brayden and then decide," Maria said.
From Jacob's perspective, it seemed he wanted her to bring Chloe back.
Maria thought, after all, that Jacob was Chloe's brother; he had no reason to harm his sister.
