Chapter 334 Miss Me Again?
Elevate Structures Group needed to compare accounts, and they knew Chloe had done last year's accounts.
But last year's accounts were made at her previous company. If Chloe were to take them out, it would violate professional ethics and could even risk leaking company secrets. This could potentially put Chloe in a problematic situation.
Chloe, on the other hand, felt that when Gary and Sharon handed the accounts over to New East Group, they seemed eager to please. It was unlikely that they would use this matter to threaten her.
Chloe called Donovan.
"Mr. Blake," she said on the phone.
"It's only been a few minutes, and you miss me again?" he asked.
"No, does Elevate Structures Group always want to cooperate with the New East Group?" Chloe asked.
She remembered that when she went to Elevate Structures Group earlier this year, Gary was very subservient to Donovan. They are also in construction, but they usually do subcontracting work and probably always wanted to get orders from New East Group but never did.
"Yes, they don't have the qualifications, so I refused."
"Got it." With that, Chloe hung up the phone.
Chloe now understood why Elevate Structures Group was doing this. They probably wanted to use this leverage to get a chance to cooperate with New East Group-such a simple scheme.
"Victoria, just tell them we don't have last year's account information. Since they want to compare, let them bring out last year's reports themselves. The accounts I did for them last year were for another company, and it's against professional principles. I can't provide them," Chloe said.
"See, I told you there was a conspiracy. We had to get to the bottom of this. I'll call them now." With that, Victoria called Sharon, saying that if they wanted to compare, they needed to provide the accounts themselves.
Sharon sounded very apologetic. "Oh, I forgot Chloe is now working at New East Group."
Sharon then called Gary, who scolded him, "This was your bad idea! You couldn't think of a proper solution, just trying to hold something over Chloe! I hope Donovan didn't see through our intentions, or you can forget about cooperating with New East Group. Dream on! I'm docking your pay for a month!"
Sharon could only swallow his frustration, hoping Chloe wouldn't see through it. If she did, she would definitely tell Donovan.
"I'll call Mr. Blake later to explain this! Your good deeds aren't enough to offset your bad ones!" Gary scolded Sharon.
Sharon felt bitter but couldn't express it.
Meanwhile, Chloe sighed deeply.
Victoria approached Chloe because of the Elevate Structures Group issue. After handling it, Chloe had nothing else to do, and Victoria didn't assign her any more work.
Chloe was already quite far along in her pregnancy, so Victoria didn't dare to assign her more tasks.
Chloe thought about going home with Donovan in the afternoon, so she sat on the couch and looked at her phone.
After making a call, Victoria asked Chloe, "What time are you leaving this afternoon?"
"Not sure yet. Why?"
"I want to catch a ride to 'The Elite Family' set. It's on your way home. I didn't drive today. I took a cab," Victoria said.
"No problem, I'll go with you. I'm done with my work anyway," Chloe said, thinking, 'Let Susan take me home first. I wouldn't go home with Donovan today.'
Just then, Donovan's WhatsApp message came through: [Come downstairs.]
"Victoria, he's looking for me. I'll be right back," Chloe said to Victoria.
"He? Who?"
"Donovan."
Victoria laughed and said, "Chloe, you always refer to Mr. Blake as 'he' now. Every time I hear it, it takes me a moment to realize who you're talking about. Okay, let me know when you're leaving."
Chloe responded with a simple.
