Chapter 366 We were Already Divorced

Saturday, at Whispering Pines Inn.

Early morning, the hotel VP reminded the staff, "The Blake family's young master is hosting a banquet here today. They've booked the whole place." He urged everyone to be on their best behavior and provide top-notch service.

The hotel was spotless, with floors so clean they reflected images.

Around eleven, guests started arriving.

Donovan's parents stayed home to avoid any drama, given Gordon's situation. Clara stayed with Gordon.

Maya brought Francis to the party.

Almost all of Maple Valley's elite were there.

Brayden came too, invited by Donovan.

Sofia felt out of place among the suit-clad crowd but was glad to have Logan with her.

"Chloe left, and now Mr. Blake is throwing this banquet. What's he up to?" Sofia grumbled.

"Just wait and see," Logan replied.

Sofia sat in a corner, uninterested in the socializing.

"Oh, about that game 'The Elite' and NexInnovate Technologies canceling the product placement. I went to Carol's party with Chloe to find some collaboration channels for you, but they were all so annoying. Your collaboration failed. Avoid working with them in the future; bad deeds get cursed," Sofia said apologetically, sipping her juice.

Logan laughed. He always knew Sofia was naive but didn't realize she was this innocent.

"You tried to find a product placement partner for me? You don't know anything about this," Logan asked, surprised.

"I saw you were down and wanted to help," Sofia's voice trailed off.

Logan felt touched. Someone had noticed his mood and tried to cheer him up.

"Don't do this again," Logan said, holding Sofia's hand.

Sofia's eyes widened, surprised and delighted by Logan's sudden care.

"Okay," she replied with a smile.

Donovan, in an iron-gray suit, looked sharp as he toasted with others. You'd never guess his wife had just left him.

Maya sat at Donovan's table with Francis.

"Francis looks a lot like you. He's very cute and will surely turn out extraordinary. Mr. Blake, have you planned his future?" someone flattered Donovan.

"His future is for him to decide, not me," Donovan replied.

"By the way, where's Mrs. Blake?" someone asked.

Donovan paused. "Chloe? We're divorced. No reason for her to be here."

Everyone had their doubts but stayed quiet out of respect.

Sofia was fuming inside, clenching her fists. Logan, next to her, muttered, "How could he say that?"

Sofia kept drafting WhatsApp messages to Chloe but deleted them all, not wanting to make her sad.

Even without Sofia's message, Chloe found out. Many guests posted on Facebook.

Chloe, studying under a desk lamp, saw her feed flooded with videos from the banquet. She felt left out since she was unaware of the event.

After thinking for a while, Chloe messaged Donovan: [I saw on Facebook that Francis is having a celebration banquet. Looks like fun.]

Donovan didn't reply.

Chloe couldn't focus on her reading. She felt conflicted, wanting a reply but also fearing it.

She didn't want a reply because her phone might be monitored. If Donovan replied, it could reveal lingering feelings and cause more trouble, like the canceled game product placement.

However, she still found herself yearning for a reply to gauge Donovan's attitude. A one-sided relationship wouldn't last, and Donovan didn't know about the man in the black suit. He was genuinely angry.

Chloe felt troubled.

She had been cautious, rarely going out or shopping online to avoid unexpected harm. But a few days passed without incident.

Still, Chloe stayed vigilant.

But Donovan never replied.

Chloe considered emailing him about visiting once a month, but just as she started drafting a message, she got a WhatsApp message from Barbara.
