Chapter 608 He Agreed

After Chloe hung up the phone, she was lost in thought for a long time. She went upstairs.

"Who were you calling downstairs?" Donovan asked her.

"Derek. He said Marigoldia Bank called Derek's father, saying someone made an appointment and asked if I knew about it," Chloe said while making the bed.

"He seems quite concerned."

Sensing the dissatisfaction in Donovan's tone, Chloe said, "It's all in the past. Why do you keep bringing up Derek? I don't constantly bring up Cynthia, do I? Your discontent builds up too easily."

Donovan pinned Chloe down on the bed, their faces inches apart.

Donovan played with Chloe's hair, "I've always been this discontent. Try calling him again."

Chloe turned her head away, ignoring him.

Donovan clenched his teeth tightly, as if he wanted to bite Derek out of Chloe's mind.

Donovan bit Chloe's neck hard.

Before receiving Derek's call, she had also received a WhatsApp message from the school: all teachers were required to learn from Angela's incident, rectify student conduct, and prepare for a meeting.

To prevent further impact, only a teachers' meeting was convened.

Chloe didn't think much of it, and with Donovan's attention focused on Derek, she ignored the meeting about Angela's death.

However, the meeting was held as scheduled the next day, in the school's office.

Because Chloe had visited the hospital and spoken to Angela, she was asked by the principal to speak. She said that female college students should strengthen their moral character. Chloe felt a bit guilty saying this, as she had married Donovan for her mother's illness, which wasn't much better. Fortunately, not many people at the school knew about it.

During the meeting, the department head kept his head down, blushing and silent. This department head had been Chloe's department head when she was a student, and there had been many rumors about him. Now, with someone dead because of him, his issues were about to be exposed. The principal glanced at the department head several times, but no one had any evidence, just rumors. Without concrete proof, there was no way to deal with it.

The principal harshly criticized the current trend of students becoming mistresses and seducing wealthy men, urging teachers to guide students properly.

While Chloe was in the meeting, Donovan handed Derek's photo to his assistant, asking him to investigate Derek's past, starting from his birth.

He hated Derek being like a ticking time bomb. Every time Derek contacted Chloe, Donovan's scalp tingled.

"Him? Didn't we follow Derek before?" the assistant asked Donovan.

"Yes, it's him!" Donovan clasped his hands together, his eyes filled with disdain at the thought of Derek. "Make sure to compile his entire history."

"Yes, but it might take some time."

"No problem. Is a week enough?"

"Almost."

The assistant went to Emerald Isle.

At the same time, Cynthia found out about the meeting at Chloe's school.

She had an old classmate teaching at Pearl Peak University, who mentioned it to her out of interest, without any other intentions.

That's how Cynthia learned that Angela had been killed at Rebecca Residential Community.

Thinking of the humiliation from Donovan and Chloe, Cynthia wrote a passionate article titled "Pearl Peak University Female Student Pushed Downstairs at Rebecca Residential Community" and sent it to Sidney Lawson, the editor-in-chief of Pearl Peak City Focus.

"Pearl Peak City Focus" was a very sharp column. Sidney had once pursued Cynthia, and she thought Sidney would consider their past. She also told Sidney not to publish the report without her permission.

Sidney agreed.
