Chapter 574: A Clean and Pure Aura
Donovan knew that this was probably Jane's best shot at gaining Jeffery's trust and get closer to him, so Donovan stayed out of it. He just sent Maya $10,000 for her medical treatment and had a driver take them to Jane's hospital.
At the hospital, Maya finished her ultrasound.
Jane looked at the report seriously, "Maya, you have pathological pelvic effusion. You can choose to take medication or undergo a minimally invasive surgery. Which do you prefer?"
"Does the surgery hurt?" Maya asked Jane, like a child.
"Maya, you'll be given anesthesia, so it won't hurt. Just rest at home for a few days. I'll talk to Mr. Blake about it." Jane reassured her.
"That's no problem. Donovan is very reasonable. If I tell him, he'll believe me."
Jane pursed her lips, "Would a reasonable person marry someone so casually?"
"That I don't know. Anyway, Donovan seems to have gone to Pearl Peak City."
The more Jane talked, the angrier she got. He must have gone to Pearl Peak City to get the marriage certificate. But in front of Maya, Jane had to keep up appearances, so she held her tongue and refrained from cursing.
During Maya's minimally invasive procedure for Maya, Jane was meticulous, considerate, and very gentle.
After the procedure, Maya lay on the treatment bed to rest. Maya's phone rang; it was Jeffery wanting to video call her.
The mother and son had a very good relationship and often video-called each other.
Maya was slightly stunned for a moment and then instructed Jane, "I didn't expect Jeffery to want to video call me now. If Jeffery asks, you must tell him my condition isn't serious, or else he'll be very worried."
Jane was very excited. Jane thought that if she guessed correctly, Jeffery would soon add her on WhatsApp.
Maya answered the video call.
Jane didn't leave; she wiped Maya's hands, tidied the bedside, and covered Maya with a blanket.
"Mom, why are you in the hospital?" Jeffery sounded genuinely worried.
"I had a very simple minimally invasive surgery today. Jane did it. She is Chloe's classmate and treated me very well."
Jane felt quite happy hearing that.
"What condition do you have? Is it serious?" As expected, Jeffery was concerned.
"It's just a minor gynecological procedure. If you don't believe me, let Jane tell you."
"Unfortunately, Maya, I have several patients waiting in my office. Have Jeffery add me on WhatsApp, and I'll explain to him." After saying that, Jane left.
On the way back to her office, Jane's heart felt like it was pounding with excitement.
For the first time in her life, Jane knew what it felt like to have her heart race with excitement.
Just as she sat down in her office, her phone buzzed. Jane took it out and saw a WhatsApp request: I'm Maya's son, Jeffery.
At that moment, the sunlight hit Jane's face, and she felt more youthful than ever.
Since becoming a doctor, she had always been worn out, dealing with patients during the day and working overtime at night, which messed up her menstrual cycle and caused acne. Every day felt like the end of the world. Moreover, the interns she supervised had chaotic relationships, sleeping with different people every other day. Married male doctors sleeping with nurses was commonplace, making Jane lose faith in love.
Until Jane met Jeffery. Jeffery had a clean-cut appearance—not just physically clean, but with a pure aura. Jeffery made Jane see the strength of young men and feel particularly youthful.
