Chapter 619 Quite Similar to Your Dad
"You're too kind. Are you feeling better?" Jane asked, pretending to be calm.
"Almost fully recovered."
"You still need to take good care of yourself," Jane added.
"Injury? What injury? What happened to Jeffery?" Maya asked worriedly, holding Jeffery's arm.
"It's nothing, Mom," Jeffery replied. "I got a little hurt during training, but I'm all better now."
"You got injured and told Dr. Allen, but not me," Maya continued.
Hearing this, Jane felt a bit pleased and thought to herself, 'Is Maya's complaint a sign of jealousy towards Jeffery?'
Her eyes had a slight mist as she looked towards Jeffery again, but Jeffery wasn't looking at her.
Maya was very happy to see that Jeffery had saved Francis, thinking: At least I can make amends now.
Zoey and Paula had just returned and were quite moved after hearing what had happened.
Jeffery scrutinized Paula, feeling that she seemed somewhat familiar, but he couldn't recall how.
"Mom, I have training tasks to get back to. I only took a short leave. I have to go," Jeffery said, bidding farewell to Maya.
"Not even staying for a meal?" Maya looked at her son, who had grown taller and thinner, and felt a pang of pity. Ever since learning about Chloe and Donovan, he had rarely smiled.
"I'll eat back at the camp."
"Jeffery, thank you," Chloe also said to Jeffery. Since Jeffery joined the military, Chloe hadn't had a proper conversation with him.
"Why be so polite?" Jeffery finally showed a faint smile.
"The thesis," Chloe wanted to talk to Jeffery about the thesis, but Jeffery wasn't listening. He said, "I forgot about that a long time ago. I'm leaving."
With that, Jeffery walked out of the Blake Mansion's door.
As soon as Jeffery left, Donovan came in.
Francis, no longer afraid, detailed to Donovan how Jeffery had saved him.
Donovan patted Francis's head, "Not bad, pretty clever, just like your mom."
"I'm not that smart, more like your dad," Chloe said, though she was still quite shaken by the incident. "How long do you think Barbara and Jacob will be sentenced?"
"I don't know. But with Barbara arrested, the police will continue to investigate Pamela through her, and that's the key," Donovan said, looking at Chloe. "Also, there's a meeting at the company tomorrow."
"What kind of meeting?" Chloe asked.
"A pre-sale meeting for the Rebecca Residential Community. With the advertising department. Also, come up with a slogan," Donovan said.
Thinking about coming up with a slogan for the Rebecca Residential Community, Chloe thought of her daughter.
"Why me? Why should I come up with it?" she was reluctant.
"Don't you know why yourself?"
Chloe was stunned for a moment, thinking: Rebecca is her daughter. She is indeed the most suitable person to come up with a slogan, but she didn't want to do it. Rebecca was her deceased daughter, and she didn't want to drag this past out and torment herself again.
"Jane, have dinner at my place tonight?" Chloe asked Jane, seeing Jane's dazed look and thinking: She must be smitten with Jeffery.
"Sure," Jane replied.
Chloe and Jane took the kids upstairs to the bedroom. Donovan never interrupted women's conversations, so he waited downstairs.
