Chapter 405 Don't hurt Donovan's Self-Esteem

Donovan called the number Maya gave him. Jeffery's voice was smooth and polite.

"Is this Mr. Blake?"

"Yes."

"Thanks for delivering it. Where are you? I'll come get it."

"Opulent Elegance Estate. I'll give you the driver's number. You can meet him at his hotel tonight."

"Okay, thanks, Mr. Blake." Jeffery hung up.

Donovan stared at Jeffery's number and said, "The future belongs to the younger generation."

Charles, eating steak, was startled. "You're in your prime. Why say that?"

Donovan glanced at him.

Charles then said, "Oh, right. You don't have a wife yet."

"Can you be nicer?" Donovan frowned.

Charles smirked and stayed quiet.

"Looks like we can't return to Maple Valley today. Let's stay at Grandpa's," Donovan said.

"Fine by me."

After dinner, they took a cab to Donovan's grandfather's old house.

The next morning, the driver picked them up to head back to Maple Valley.

Charles asked, "Donovan, I think Stellar Corp might be a good fit for us. Their investment philosophy aligns with ours, and their president, Timothy Reed, seems like a solid guy—not the stingy type. He's seen the world, you know? What do you think?"

"You're reading people's minds?"

Charles knew Donovan had made up his mind and didn't push further.

"Did you deliver the stuff to Jeffery?" Donovan asked the driver.

"Yes."

"What does Jeffery look like?" Charles asked.

Donovan gave Charles a sidelong glance. "Do I need to ask about your sexual preferences now?"

"You said the future belongs to the younger generation. If he's good-looking, you might be out of luck. Just looking out for you," Charles patted Donovan's shoulder and asked the driver again. "What's Jeffery like? Be honest. Don't hurt Donovan's ego."

"Well..." The driver hesitated.

He had to be honest but didn't want to offend Donovan.

Donovan, glancing out the window, could tell from the driver's reluctance that Jeffery was quite handsome. It seemed the new generation had surpassed the old.

He thought, 'But honestly, what does it matter comparing myself to a young guy?'

They attended a bidding meeting at the company, and Donovan went home in the afternoon.

"Maya, the stuff for Jeffery is delivered," Donovan said while changing.

"Yes, he told me. Thanks, Mr. Blake. I told him he should treat you to a meal."

"I was busy yesterday. Maybe next time," Donovan said.

"Daddy, you're back?" Francis ran out and hugged Donovan.

"Yes. Did you miss me?"

"I missed you so much!" Francis kissed Donovan's cheek.

Donovan felt a pang of nostalgia. He thought of Chloe, who would always be coy and reluctant to express her feelings when he asked if she missed him.

'Francis is way better,' Donovan mused.

The next day, New East Group approved the decision to cooperate with Stellar Corp. Trips to Pearl Peak City and visits to Stellar Corp would be frequent in the future.
