Chapter 623 The Leader's Daughter
At the class reunion, if Chloe hadn't signed or even made the classmates think twice, Dwayne wouldn't have gone to such extremes.
It wouldn't have ended up in such an unmanageable situation today.
They had just finished the pre-sale meeting in the morning, still in high spirits, and Donovan had just settled things at Pearl Peak City Focus, and then this happened.
Rebecca Residential Community was destined to be troublesome.
Chloe suddenly felt very scared. She feared that Rebecca Residential Community would be like her Rebecca, going through a painful pregnancy, enduring nine months of gestation, only to retract at the last moment and never come out again, leaving Chloe feeling lost.
Chloe walked nervously to the hallway and called Donovan.
Her voice was almost crying, "Donovan."
"We are in an emergency meeting."
Chloe knew he probably knew everything already. New East Group had a PR department specifically for handling these things, and comparatively, her information was already outdated.
Hearing Donovan say he was in a meeting, Chloe responded twice and hung up the phone, feeling lost.
Chloe stood in front of the window, staring blankly outside.
When Chloe got home, Donovan hadn't returned yet.
She was restless until around eleven o'clock when the door sounded, and Donovan came back.
"How is it?" Chloe asked him.
"We searched all the major forums and deleted posts. Also, Rebecca Residential Community might need to be renamed," Donovan told Chloe.
Chloe thought: This is probably the most reliable way to control the drop in housing prices. Once the posts are deleted and the community is renamed, the residents won't be able to match the name.
From the moment she went to the hospital to see Angela, she should have anticipated something like this happening, but she lacked foresight.
"Donovan, it's my fault," Chloe said guiltily to Donovan.
"It's not your fault. If Rebecca Residential Community is renamed, what would you like to call it?" Donovan asked her.
"Well, I don't know."
"I'll have the planning department think about it."
Chloe felt that ever since the Rebecca Residential Community project started, she had a very bad feeling. First, she had a falling out with Donovan, then Cynthia's incident happened, and they were threatened by the media. Anyway, this community kept causing trouble for Chloe. Renaming it would be good, so she wouldn't have to worry about it anymore.
Today's issue was temporarily set aside. The next day, Maya said she wanted to visit Jeffery. Jeffery was injured last time, but because of Francis's incident, she didn't ask in detail. She had been worried these past few days and planned to visit him.
"Yeah, bring some nutritious soup or something, and have the driver take you. It's a pity I haven't got my driver's license yet. If I had, I would take you myself," Chloe said.
Yesterday, Donovan told her that the police were now investigating Barbara. There were some clues about how Pamela had caused Paisley's death. Chloe felt that only when Pamela was in jail and the truth about Paula's case was revealed would she feel at ease.
"Okay, I'll be back tonight."
"Alright."
Today, Chloe went to work as usual, without showing any signs of abnormality. As for Donovan, the planned pre-sale hadn't started and might be postponed for a while.
In the evening, Maya came back, looking very happy.
"What's up, Maya? Why are you so happy?" Chloe asked her.
"Yeah, I heard that a leader's daughter has taken a liking to Jeffery. And it's a direct leader's daughter. Although I'm not someone who likes to cling to wealthy people, knowing that someone has taken a liking to Jeffery, and such a good woman at that, makes me feel good," Maya said.
