Chapter 100 Niece-in-law, Your Fiancé Had Arrived

"Mr. Montgomery, we did indeed do a lot of absurd things before, but at that time, I didn't know anything. It's my fault. Let's just forget about it. Let's just be friends from now on, okay?"
Grace's eyes were very watery. When she looked up at Xavier like that, her eyes were watery and shiny.
She had no idea, those pleading eyes tugging at people's hearts.
Grace liked to call him Xavier, and it seemed like the only time she called him Mr. Montgomery was at the Turner family's banquet last time.
With the change in address, the ambiguous familiarity between the two individuals seemed to vanish, making everything feel very unfamiliar.
It seemed that Grace did want to end things with him.
Why did she have to go and provoke him in the first place?
Xavier's gaze turned cold. It was clear that he had been the one teasing her at first, but upon hearing Grace's words, he became displeased instead.
He almost forgot that she is Evelyn's daughter.
"Nothing ever happened? Hurrying to distance yourself from me because of Ryan?"
"If you really intend to live peacefully as my niece-in-law and have a good life with my nephew, I guess I can also pretend that nothing ever happened."
"It has nothing to do with Ryan. It's just because Mr. Montgomery already has..."
Grace hadn't finished speaking when she heard a knock on the door from outside, "Hello? Is anyone there?"
The voice coming from outside made Grace shiver. 'Ryan?
'Wasn't he being affectionate with those two women in the room? How did he end up here?'
Xavier picked up his phone, and his fingers seemed to tap on the screen. After putting it down, he lifted the corners of his mouth with a hint of sarcasm.
"Your fiancé has arrived."
The word "fiancé" made Grace shudder.
It was too taboo, just like doing something unspeakable behind Ryan's back.
Ryan outside still hadn’t settled down, and the knocking on the door had gotten louder.
"Hey, I saw the lights on inside. I'm Ryan, the young master of the Montgomery family. Your house is quite big. Can you let me stay for a night? Don't worry. Money is definitely not an issue. I can agree to any conditions!"
He was almost frozen silly outside, and he had knocked on the other rooms as well. Either no one answered, or they refused to open the door.
He walked so far before finally coming over. His legs were aching from all the walking!
"Should I open the door to let him in?"
"No!" Grace grabbed Xavier's wrist. "Please!"
Let's set aside the fact that she has no desire to see Ryan at all. If Ryan were actually to enter and witness her with Xavier, what thoughts might arise in his mind?
Surely, a tumultuous scene would ensue once more, with exclamations of, "Ah, do you happen to be aware of Xavier's presence here, deliberately shunning me to be with him?"
"What are you afraid of? Do we have something to hide? Aren't we just ordinary friends?" Xavier remained calm, instead enjoying Grace's panic.
Xavier wasn't wearing any clothes now. If anyone walked in, they wouldn't think they were innocent.
Especially when everyone thought she was Ryan's fiancée. Who wouldn't have had any extra thoughts about this niece-in-law living alone with Xavier?
Especially considering Ryan's lack of astuteness.
Grace didn't know why she was so unlucky. It seemed like every time she was with Xavier, she would encounter some accident. Either she would run into Patrick or Ryan.
Listening to Ryan, he appeared to be unaware of a place to stay, oblivious to Grace's presence here, and seemingly uninformed about Xavier's whereabouts.
'What's going on?' Grace confused.
"I just don't want to see him, Xavier. I know you're a good person. You definitely won't open the door, right?"
Xavier realized that when she didn't ask for help, he was Mr. Montgomery; when she did ask for help, he was Xavier.
"You should know, if I let you in, I will let Ryan in.
"Unless you beg me."
"How can I help?" asked Grace.
He lifted the hand that she had grabbed by the wrist, rubbing Grace's lips gently.
The fingertips pressed the rosy lips, and the touch was soft. When he lightly brushed past, Grace's head leaned back slightly, her lips trembled, and her upper lip just touched Xavier's hand.
It was a crispy and subtle sensation, deepening Xavier's gaze.
"What do you think? How should a woman pursue a man?"
"Xavier, this is not appropriate."
"Indeed, Grace," Xavier emphasized.
"I heard voices inside. What are you saying? I'm Ryan. Open the door for me!" Ryan said as he stood at the door, looking like a thief.
He clearly heard some noise coming from inside, with people talking, but he just couldn't make out what they were saying.
"Hey, did you guys hear that?"
Xavier didn't care at all about the people outside. His deep eyes were very calm, like the calm before the storm.
"Finally, I'll give you one last chance, beg me."
Grace bit her lip. It was impossible; she wasn't that kind of person.
Even if Xavier went to open the door, let Ryan in, and let Ryan see that she was there, she still couldn't have anything happen with Xavier.
Not being a third party was the bottom line.
"Great." Xavier let go of my hand and strode towards the door.
His hand rested on the door handle, and he turned to look at Grace as if giving her one last chance. He could open the door at any moment.
However, Grace had already averted her gaze, her fingers tightly clutching her clothes, sweat pooling in her palms. Saying she wasn't nervous would be a lie.
Following that, Grace heard the sound of the door opening, and she trembled slightly.
"Mr. Montgomery, following your orders, we threw Mr. Ryan Montgomery out and didn't expect him to come here. We apologize for our mistake and assure you that Mr. Ryan Montgomery will not bother you again."
Upon hearing the sound, Grace abruptly turned to look, expecting to see Ryan, but instead, it was a staff member.
"Very well." Xavier nodded and closed the door.
Grace widened her eyes, looking at him in disbelief.
"Where's Ryan?"
'Isn't that Ryan at the door?
'He was just here.'
Grace thought about what she had just heard, and if she heard correctly, that person said it was Xavier who told someone to throw Ryan out of the room.
Xavier strode in and picked up the cigarette on the table, lighting it. "So, disappointed not to see your fiancé?"
"Did you make someone throw Ryan out of the room?" Grace's heart was numb.
When did it happen, and why didn't she know?
'Was it after I told Xavier those things myself that he was standing up for me?'
Xavier took a puff of his cigarette and said, "It's none of your business. I'm just teaching a lesson to my nephew."
So, just now, when he said to give her a chance to beg him in the end, was it all intentional?
When he first heard Ryan's voice, he immediately picked up his phone and actually called someone to come over and take Ryan away.
He never actually considered letting Ryan in from start to finish.
Saying such nasty things was also meant to scare her on purpose.
Her eyes suddenly lit up, and then she smiled. "Thank you, Xavier!"
Grace's eyes were so beautiful that they made you want to bully her until she cried.
He took another deep drag of his cigarette but still couldn't suppress the restlessness in his heart.
"I don't need cheap gratitude."
Grace also stood up. "Xavier, I don't think your fiancée would appreciate you being alone with other women. Thank you for kicking Ryan out; it's a relief for me. I'll leave first."
Xavier furrowed his brow deeply. Where did he get a fiancée?
So, this is the reason why Grace was unwilling?
"Wait." Xavier held her hand, which was about to close the notebook.
"What fiancée?"
