Chapter 440 Let Stephanie Repent in Front of Joseph's Tombstone
Stephanie shivered just from listening.
How could someone as glamorous as her be a rat?
She could already imagine the scene: if she were stuck here forever, unable to wear beautiful clothes or put on makeup, eating food that even dogs wouldn't touch, she might as well be dead.
"No, no, Xavier, you promised to marry me. You clearly agreed when Grandpa passed away!"
Stephanie felt that Xavier was her only hope.
"A promise is just a promise. Do you really believe in the souls of the dead? If I don't marry you, do you think your grandpa's soul will appear and teach me a lesson? I'll be waiting."
"Xavier! My grandpa died saving you. Do you really have no heart?" Stephanie's eyes turned red, and she roared, the veins in her neck bulging.
"Did your grandpa die saving me, or did you cause his death, Stephanie? Are you still unwilling to admit it?"
Xavier's words seemed to hit Stephanie's nerves. She fell to her knees. "It wasn't me, it wasn't me; I really didn't kill Grandpa."
Xavier waved his hand, signaling for someone to release Stephanie.
Stephanie was overjoyed and quickly wiped her tears. "Xavier, are you taking me away? You still care about me, right? I knew it; you must be here to save me."
"Xavier, let's go home. I want to go home." Stephanie thought Xavier was taking her back. Even when she boarded the plane, she was still dreaming.
She felt like she hadn't seen the sunlight in a long time. Today's weather wasn't particularly good, but for Stephanie, it was enough.
Outside seemed very lively, as if it were a new year.
For the first time, Stephanie felt that the outside world was beautiful and comfortable, not damp and salty.
But people always looked at her with strange eyes, full of disdain. They seemed to look down on her, making her feel inferior and sensitive. She thought everyone was targeting her, whispering about her.
Stephanie couldn't stand it. After getting off the plane, she saw someone looking at her and then talking. They must be discussing her!
She was the heir to the Park family, glamorous and envied by everyone!
Stephanie rushed over and slapped the person talking. "How dare you talk about me behind my back? Do you know who I am? I'm the heir to the Park family; the famous Park Group is my property!"
"Where did this lunatic come from? Are you crazy? What Park family? Where did this beggar come from?" the person who was slapped cursed.
"I'm not a beggar; I'm Stephanie!" Stephanie was almost losing her mind.
The person seemed to remember. "Stephanie, the one who peed herself out of fear? How do you still have the face to come out? Who would wet themselves? Have you seen that video of yourself? Isn't it embarrassing?"
Stephanie remembered that experience. Their words hurt more than a slap, and she roared and screamed like a madwoman.
"That wasn't me, it wasn't me; I'll kill you!"
Stephanie tried to rush over, but Xavier's men pulled her away and forcibly put her in the car.
Stephanie kept crying. She didn't know how things had turned out this way. She used to have a perfect life, wealthy and noble, with a loving grandpa, countless properties, and a life of flattery.
But now, she seemed to have lost everything. Her grandpa was gone, her shares were gone, everything was gone.
There was even a video of her like that online. She didn't know what people were saying about her behind her back.
They must be cursing her, thinking she was a disgrace.
Stephanie thought Xavier was taking her home, but Xavier had her thrown into a cemetery.
With the momentum, Stephanie fell to the ground, clutching a tombstone.
"Xavier, why did you bring me here?" Stephanie didn't understand.
"Tell your grandpa that you never hurt him, that the shooting had nothing to do with you, that his death wasn't your doing." Xavier's voice was icy, making Stephanie shiver.
In front of her was a photo, a photo of Joseph.
In the photo, Joseph smiled kindly, looking so young.
Stephanie didn't dare say anything. Seeing Joseph's face reminded her of his kindness. She regretted it; she really regretted it. Could Joseph come back? Could he pamper her like before?
"Joseph always felt sorry for you. Even though he gave you the best he could, he still felt it wasn't enough. It wasn't the love of parents. The one person he never wronged in his life was you. You know how much he loved you. Even when he was sick, he worked through his illness to give you the Park Group. How could you be so heartless to kill him?"
Stephanie couldn't take it anymore and cried loudly.
She really knew she was wrong. Could Joseph come back?
"Stephanie, during the shooting, you had already planned to use your grandpa's life to make me marry you. Joseph knew it was your plan when the shooting happened, so he rushed over without hesitation, right?"
"And before that, you poisoned Joseph, didn't you? You teamed up with those shareholders, using Joseph's life to force me back from Skigeth. Stephanie, haven't you ever dreamed of Joseph coming to see you? Don't you feel any guilt in your heart?"
"Stop, please stop." Stephanie went crazy, hugging the tombstone tightly.
When Joseph left, she dreamed of him and even dreamed of her parents, though she no longer remembered their faces.
She dreamed of them accusing her, asking why she did it.
She dreamed of Joseph seeking revenge, saying he treated her so well, yet she wanted to kill him.
She really didn't mean it. Why didn't Joseph push Xavier to marry her?
"Stephanie, can you really live peacefully in this world now? Could you look at your grandpa? Can your conscience really be at ease?"
"I... I..." Stephanie couldn't speak.
In Skigeth, she could endure it, but now, in front of Joseph's tombstone, she couldn't hold it in anymore.
Everything burst out, and Stephanie roared, "It's all because of you because I love you so much, Xavier. I met you first. Why don't you like me? I love you so much. Why can't you look at me? Why can't you marry me? If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have done this."
