Chapter 158 Into Xavier's Arms, Holding His Waist

Why did Grace always run into Xavier wherever she went? Was it really that simple to have such encounters? Didn't Xavier have work to do? Xavier was the only one here who had seen Grace's true face except Angela.

Grace wasn't sure if Xavier had seen her; she still had a veil on her face, so he might not have recognized her. Moreover, she wasn't Grace at the moment, so it wouldn't matter much if Xavier did see her.

Grace hurried back to the backstage area and swiftly changed into the next outfit. Her loose hair didn't complement the new ensemble, so the stylist put her long hair up. This transformation lent Grace a more gentle and elegant look, completely different from before.

When Grace walked out again, she was noticeably more nervous than before. Her eyes involuntarily fell on Xavier, making her feel very unnatural.

When she walked out the second time, Xavier lifted his eyes, and their gazes met directly. Fortunately, Xavier quickly looked away, seemingly unaffected, which made her sigh of relief.

Grace readjusted her mindset and, no longer as nervous as before, completed the second round. She then went backstage to change into the third outfit.

Although all three of Grace's outfits were in different styles, the constant element was the veil adorning her face, which she never removed.

Surprisingly, this didn't detract from the outfits; instead, by obscuring her face, it allowed people to concentrate on both her attire and the enigmatic allure of her concealed visage. Each outfit was so fitting, showcasing the designer's meticulous effort.

In addition to conversing about Grace, many attendees were also buzzing about the designer, Angela.

Angela, watching from below, was particularly pleased. She knew Grace would achieve her desired effect! Grace did not disappoint her; she was simply stunning, the most beautiful.

Grace's task was complete. She returned to the backstage and sat there, unable to believe she had become a model and walked a runway. She hadn't paid attention to the other people in the fashion show; her mind was entirely on Xavier. Fortunately, it seemed she hadn't messed up.

There was no one else in the dressing room. Just as Grace was lost in thought, the door opened. "Angela," Grace thought Angela had come in, but when she saw who it was, she panicked.

Xavier closed the door, and suddenly, it was just the two of them in the dressing room. He strode in and said, "What, Miss Clark doesn't recognize me?"

Hearing the name Miss Clark, Grace was momentarily stunned. However, she quickly recollected that during her previous encounter with Xavier, where she had revealed her true face, she had introduced herself as Mia Clark.

"Mr. Montgomery is so unforgettable; of course, I remember, "Grace replied.

Clearly, Xavier had no intention of letting her off easily. "Really? How exactly am I unforgettable?"

Grace remained silent. She was just being polite. "I didn't expect Mr. Montgomery to come to the show. I thought you were in Skigeth. Also, this dressing room is shared; others will be coming in soon. It doesn't seem appropriate for Mr. Montgomery to be here."

Xavier's gaze fell on Grace's face. Her skin was fair and tender, the veil still on. Up close, her eyes were even more beautiful.

Grace's long eyelashes were not artificial, nor had she applied any mascara, but those curled and long lashes were longer than any fake ones. Her eyes were adorned with makeup, sparkling, with a reddish eyeshadow that made her look like a little fox. Xavier now understood what it meant to be both pure and alluring.

Grace looked like a spoiled little princess, yet she was undeniably beautiful. Xavier knew he shouldn't have come here; the fashion show wasn't even over. But as soon as she left, he followed her backstage.

"Just greeting to an old friend. But how come I didn't know Miss Clark's profession was modeling?" he asked.

"Actually, it's not. I'm just helping a friend," Grace replied.

Xavier stood right in front of Grace and lifted his hand, grabbing a corner of her veil. With a swift tug, the veil fell from Grace's face, revealing the lower half of her visage. Even though he knew what Grace looked like, seeing her now still took his breath away.

Grace hadn't expected Xavier to pull off her veil. She instinctively wanted to cover her face but then remembered that he had seen her before. She wondered what he was up to now.

Xavier's gaze lingered on Grace's nose and lips. The thought of so many people having seen her tonight and how many might be thinking about her now made him feel a pang of displeasure.

When Xavier was unhappy, Grace would suffer, making her even more anxious.

Xavier's Adam's apple bobbed as he spoke deliberately, "Miss Clark, your voice sounds somewhat familiar."

Grace's heart tightened, her eyes filled with panic. She hadn't had many opportunities to meet Xavier in her true form, and a person's voice wasn't that easy to change. The next second, she heard Xavier say, "It sounds like my niece-in-law."

Grace was stunned. Afraid of being discovered, she spoke in a suppressed voice, her smile stiff. What she didn't know was that Xavier enjoyed seeing her like this.

"Is that so? Voices can sometimes sound similar, just like how two people can look alike," Grace said.

Grace was well aware that encountering Xavier never led to anything positive. Her voice possessed a distinct quality, a pleasing timbre. However, she now intentionally subdued it, causing her voice to sound even softer than before.

Xavier's smile deepened. "What a coincidence. How about I give her a call and let you hear for yourself how similar your voices are?"

As he spoke, Xavier took out his phone. Grace's heart nearly leaped out of her chest.

'What did he mean? Had he figured out she was Grace?'

"Mr. Montgomery!" Grace quickly grabbed Xavier's hand, the one about to dial. "That's not necessary."

"Okay, Miss Clark must be from Skigeth as well. Maybe next time,I can arrange for you two to meet," Xavier said.

Speechless, She hoped someone would come to her rescue. 'Why hadn't Angela come in yet? No, it couldn't be Angela.'

If Angela appeared, Xavier might connect the dots to their first meeting at the Turner family banquet. If he realized she was Angela's friend, her identity would be in jeopardy. Angela must not come back.

Grace now wished for anyone else to come in and break the tension between her and Xavier.

As if her thoughts were heard by God, there was a sudden knock on the door. Soon, someone outside impatiently tried to open it. A sleazy voice called out, "Hello, miss."

Grace immediately recognized the voice. It was Daniel!

'What is Daniel doing here? Although she hoped for someone to come in, Daniel is the last person she wanted,' She thought.

His lecherous gaze made Grace sense danger. She threw herself into Xavier's arms, wrapping her hands around his waist and using his chest to shield her face. "Mr. Montgomery, please help me," she pleaded.
