Chapter 513 Ainsley Notices Edith's Thoughts
These past few days have been driving Ainsley crazy and worrying. She thought of several solutions, like returning the Ross family's money, compensating them more, or introducing a young and beautiful girl to them, but none of these satisfied the Ross family.
Moreover, the Ross family only gave her three days. If she couldn't resolve it within three days, they wouldn't be polite about it.
Ainsley's hair had turned much grayer, and she wore a worried expression every day.
If there was really no other way, she couldn't bear to marry Edith off.
She didn't know what to do. The consequences of opposing the Ross family were something the Turner family couldn't afford at the moment.
Omari also learned about this matter and came home, saying, "Mom, why didn't you tell me about such a big issue?"
Ainsley replied, "You're so busy with work. Telling you about this would only distract you. Don't worry about these things; focus on your work."
"How can I focus on work when you didn't tell me about Angela's marriage, and now you're not telling me about the Ross family issue? I don't agree with marrying Edith off. I've watched her grow up; she's like a sister to me."
This deeply moved Edith. Omari looked so handsome standing up for her.
If only she could become Omari's woman.
Edith took the opportunity to go over and cling to Omari's arm, not missing any chance to be close to him. "Omari, I don't want to marry Zander."
Ainsley saw Edith holding Omari's arm and pulled Edith aside. "Don't worry about it. I'll negotiate with the Ross family."
Ainsley wanted to grab Angela and scold her. If it weren't for Angela, there wouldn't be this problem. But every time her people went to find Angela, they were blocked by a group of people. It seemed Angela had hired bodyguards.
How could she have given birth to a daughter like Angela? If she had known, she would have strangled her when she was a child!
She couldn't bear to marry Edith off. Although the Ross family had some money and power, Zander was older and had children, and the Ross family was arrogant. With Echo's attitude, Edith wouldn't have a good life there.
Edith was different from Angela. Angela had a bad temper and wouldn't let herself suffer; she would definitely argue with Echo.
But Edith was so gentle and would definitely be wronged. She had been a precious treasure since childhood; how could Ainsley bear to let Edith suffer?
"Don't worry, Edith. I'll find a way."
Edith nodded and hugged Ainsley. "I knew you were the best, Mom."
On the last day of the three-day deadline, the family was having a relatively harmonious meal.
Edith was serving food to her family, giving some to Ainsley and then to Omari.
At that moment, a servant came over and said, "Mrs. Turner, there's a phone call for you."
"A call for me?" Ainsley wondered who it could be. What if it was someone from the Ross family?
Ainsley walked over and answered the phone.
Whatever the person on the other end said left Ainsley stunned, her eyes filled with disbelief.
She turned sharply to look at Edith, who was sitting next to Omari. She looked sweet and had slightly flushed cheeks.
She was serving Omari food and occasionally glancing at him with eyes full of affection.
And this affection didn't seem to be just sisterly love.
Ainsley didn't know who made the call. The voice was a woman's, telling her that Edith liked her son, Omari.
She had never thought about it this way before, but now, looking at it, she was shocked.
Edith liked Omari?
That was absolutely impossible!
Ainsley kept saying it was impossible, but her heart grew more anxious. She had recently noticed that Edith seemed too close to Omari.
Edith used to talk about Omari all the time. When Omari came home, Edith would cook for him herself. When Omari was busy with work, she felt sorry for him. Ainsley had always thought Edith was just a kind person who cared about Omari. How could she have thought it was love?
Ainsley walked over, looking like she had lost her soul.
"Mom, what's wrong?" Omari asked, seeing Ainsley's pale face. "Was it the Ross family causing trouble?"
Ainsley shook her head. "It wasn't the Ross family. Just eat. Don't you have to go to the company after this? You don't need to come back for the next few days. I'll handle everything at home."
Omari found it strange. It seemed like Ainsley didn't want him to stay.
"Omari, just eat. Don't worry, I'll take care of Mom. Have some more of this, and this. I made these dishes myself!" Edith started serving Omari food again.
She didn't even use communal utensils but her own.
These details were now magnified in Ainsley's eyes.
Ainsley felt like a knife had been stabbed into her heart. It was no wonder Angela had said a few days ago that Edith had feelings for someone in the Turner family.
She could treat Edith as a daughter, but if Edith had other intentions and wanted to be Omari's wife, that was absolutely impossible!
Her son deserved someone better, even someone from a prestigious family in Oakworth.
"Omari, didn't you say you were busy with work? Go ahead. You don't need to stay for the meal." Ainsley's smile became stiff.
"Alright, I'll head to the company then." Omari felt that Ainsley didn't want him to stay, but recently, dining at home had been quite oppressive.
Omari wiped his mouth and left. Edith was unhappy. "Mom, Omari rarely comes home. How could you send him away without letting him finish his meal? Should I pack some food and take it to him at the company?"
Edith was very enthusiastic. She had done this before.
Ainsley hadn't thought much of it at the time, but now, the more she looked, the more she felt Edith had feelings for Omari.
As Edith stood up, Ainsley grabbed her wrist. "You don't need to worry about that. I'll have the servant make some soup and send it over."
"My soup tastes better. How about I make some for Omari?" Edith, still unaware, remained enthusiastic.
"Sit down. I need to discuss something with you."
"What is it?" Edith sat down.
Ainsley's eyes were sharp. "I've been thinking, Omari isn't that young anymore. I've been looking for a potential match for him. There's a girl who just graduated from college, beautiful and talented."
"No way! That woman isn't good enough for Omari!" Edith reacted strongly.
Realizing her overreaction, she quickly sat down. "Mom, Omari is still young, isn't he? He should focus on his career. It's too early for him to get married, and that woman isn't good enough for Omari."
