Chapter 601 Put on the Ring
Angela couldn't hold it in any longer. Her eyelashes were trembling uncontrollably, and she finally squinted her eyes to see what Scott was up to.
But to her surprise, Scott was also watching Angela, worried she might suddenly wake up.
As soon as Angela opened her eyes, Scott noticed.
Scott quickly pulled his hand back, hiding it behind him, and stood up straight.
Since she was caught, Angela decided to drop the act.
Pretending to have just woken up, she yawned, "What are you doing?"
"Nothing," Scott hurriedly put the ring back in his palm.
Really, nothing?
Angela looked at Scott, finding his behavior odd.
"Then why are you here? Do you want to sleep in the bed too?" Angela wondered if she had taken over Scott's bed, causing him to come over.
A flicker of something crossed Scott's face, but he kept his expression neutral. "No, I saw your blanket wasn't covering you properly, so I came to fix it."
However, out of Angela's sight, Scott was tightly gripping the ring.
Was her blanket really not covering her? She thought she had tucked herself in pretty well.
Angela didn't say much, just responded with a simple "Oh."
Scott walked back to his couch. "Go back to sleep."
"Okay," Angela replied, turning off the bedside lamp.
Scott had a bit of a cold, and soon, the sound of his light coughing could be heard. He tried to suppress it, not wanting to disturb Angela's sleep.
Angela felt bad. She sat up in bed, "Why don't you sleep in the bed? I'll take the couch."
"I'm small, the couch fits me just fine."
This was Scott's room, after all. She felt a bit guilty for taking his bed.
"No need, I can sleep here," Scott's voice came from the couch.
"But you have a cold."
"My cold has nothing to do with the couch."
Angela didn't know what else to say. The bed was actually quite big, and if Scott didn't mind, they could each take a side.
But Angela was sure Scott would mind!
She hadn't slept much the night before, and even now, her mind was filled with chaotic thoughts. Eventually, sleep overcame her, and she drifted off.
She didn't know that in the middle of the night, Scott sat up again, holding the ring, feeling incredibly nervous.
This time, he even called Angela's name a couple of times to make sure she was really asleep before turning on the small bedside lamp and getting up.
He moved stealthily, carefully approaching Angela.
With Angela sound asleep and unguarded, Scott gently took her hand out from under the blanket and slipped the ring onto her finger.
He had secretly measured her finger size in the middle of the night before, and the ring fit perfectly.
Angela's hands were beautiful, with smooth, glowing skin and long, slender fingers, perfect for playing the piano.
Maybe because she often held a pen, there was a small callus on her index finger.
The ring looked quite nice on her ring finger.
Scott put Angela's hand back under the blanket, covered her up again, and looked at her face, a faint smile appearing on his lips before he returned to his couch.
Having finally completed this important task, Scott felt a sense of relief.
The next morning, when Angela woke up, she saw Scott still on the couch.
Scott usually woke up early. By the time she got up, he was usually already washed and out.
Angela greeted him, "Morning."
People are often at their worst when they first wake up, but Angela didn't care. Scott had probably seen her at her worst plenty of times.
Scott nodded, and Angela went to the bathroom to wash up.
While brushing her teeth, Angela felt something was off but couldn't pinpoint it in the mirror.
It wasn't until she washed her face and something on her hand brushed against her cheek that she froze. When did she get such a big ring on her finger?
She was sure she didn't have it last night.
Angela suddenly remembered Scott's strange behavior the night before, saying he was there to cover her with the blanket.
It seemed Scott had wanted to put the ring on her!
And when she couldn't resist opening her eyes, she interrupted Scott's plan.
Could it be that Scott had put the ring on her in the middle of the night?
Angela quickly left the bathroom, but Scott was no longer in the room. She went outside and saw Scott pouring himself a glass of water. She hurried over and held up her hand in front of him.
"Did you do this?"
Scott admitted, "Yeah."
"So last night, when you came to cover me with the blanket, you were trying to put this on me?"
Scott remained silent. Angela continued, "And yesterday, when you asked me to hold out my hand, was that also because of this?"
But Caden had just said it casually. How did Scott find a ring that fit her so perfectly in such a short time?
Could he have prepared it beforehand?
But if he had prepared it in advance, when did he do it?
Angela was full of questions, but Scott said nothing.
Angela continued, "Is this because of what Caden said? Don't take his words to heart. He was speaking off the cuff. Who says you have to wear a ring just because you're married? Plenty of married people don't wear rings. And we..."
"Do you not like the design? Is the diamond too small?" Scott asked, pursing his lips.
"No, no, that's not what I meant! I think, maybe it's not necessary?"
Such a big diamond ring, and so beautifully designed, sparkling. Angela loved it at first sight but didn't dare to think about its price. It looked very expensive.
"What's wrong with it?"
"It's just... well..." Angela couldn't find the right words. "I just think it's not necessary. If it's just because of what Caden said, he didn't mean it that way."
"Are you that close to him? How do you know what he meant? And isn't it normal for us to wear rings? It can save us a lot of unnecessary trouble. If you don't want to wear it, you can take it off."
Scott wasn't angry, but for some reason, he felt uncomfortable whenever Angela mentioned Caden.
And before, when he first made the ring and planned to give it to Angela, he gave up because of what Angela had said.
Scott didn't force Angela to wear it. Angela thought about it and realized Scott had a point.
At least, people would see the ring and know she was married, saving her from having to explain so much.
In the end, Angela didn't take the ring off.
