Chapter 331 You Stole My Man

The four chefs acted like they hadn't seen a thing.

Xavier was like, "Hey, thanks for all the hard work."

Xavier strolled in, and the chefs bounced out together.

Once they were outside, they were stunned as if to say, "Did Xavier just thank us? Is that even him? Weird!"

Xavier scooped Grace up and carried her to the dining room, plopping her down on a chair.

The table was already set, and the smell of the food was mouth-watering. It was as good as any fancy restaurant, and these chefs were top-tier.

"So much yummy food," Grace said, eyeing the spread. How were they gonna finish all this?

Xavier was like, "Dig in."

Grace grabbed the utensils and took a bite. So good!

Grace had been starving, and now that she was eating, she felt even hungrier.

While Grace chowed down, Xavier stayed cool and took his time. Soon, Grace was stuffed and didn't wanna move.

Xavier cleaned up a bit, even threw on an apron to wash the dishes.

Grace propped her chin on her hand, watching him. She never thought Xavier had a domestic side.

Xavier in an apron over his suit? Only she got to see this.

Xavier finished up quick and walked over. "If you're sleepy, hit the bed. The bedroom's over there."

Grace finally took a good look at Xavier's place. It was huge, a duplex. The bedroom was upstairs, and the downstairs was so big it felt like property here was free.

The gray and white tones made the place look cold and empty, cleaner than a model home, like no one lived here. It had zero life.

"Do you actually live here?" Grace asked.

Xavier was like, "Not really. Just crash here when I work late. Most of the time, I'm traveling. My usual place is way bigger."

Grace looked at him with a smirk. "Mr. Montgomery, when are you gonna lower house prices and think about us regular folks?"

Xavier said, "I can think about it. How about you set a price for that land in the eastern suburbs?"

Grace knew the so-called eastern suburbs of Chicago were just as pricey as Oakworth.

Grace was like, "Never mind, I was just kidding. If you lose money, don't blame me."

Xavier said, "I won't blame you."

Grace said, "Forget it! When I have money, I'll buy land myself and give back to society!"

Grace didn't wanna move at all. She quickly washed up and then crashed on the bed.

Xavier washed up after her. By the time he got into bed, Grace was already out cold.

Grace vaguely felt some movement next to her and then was wrapped in Xavier's arms.

Xavier breathed in her scent. Even though they used the same shampoo and body wash, she still had this unique, faint, pleasant smell.

Grace had a solid night's sleep and woke up early the next morning.

Xavier's internal clock was even earlier. He was up by six. Grace wanted to get up with him, but Xavier was like, "You should rest a bit more."

"No way, I can't sleep anymore," Grace said, getting up with Xavier.

Grace had a busy day ahead. She quickly whipped up breakfast. Just as they were about to eat, Xavier's phone rang.

It was the hospital on the line. Joseph's condition had taken a nosedive, and they needed Xavier to come over ASAP.

"Got it," Xavier said, hanging up and glancing at Grace.

Grace was like, "If it's important, go ahead. I gotta bounce after breakfast anyway."

Xavier said, "It's about Joseph. His condition's gotten worse. He's Stephanie's grandpa. You cool with that?"

Grace said, "It's her grandpa, not Stephanie. A life’s on the line; you should definitely go!"

"Want to come with me?" Xavier asked, eyeing her.

Grace didn't expect the invite. "Wouldn't it be kinda weird for me to go?"

Xavier said, "No problem with that."

Grace was down. "Sure!"

After all, Xavier was the jealous type who liked to bring up other dudes. Might as well tag along.

Grace grabbed a sandwich and split it with Xavier.

It was still early; the world outside was already buzzing.

Grace and Xavier got to the hospital in no time and headed to the inpatient ward. At the door, Xavier knocked, and it swung open fast.

Stephanie greeted them with a smile. "Xavier, I knew you'd come. You..."

Her smile vanished in two seconds flat when she saw Grace behind Xavier. Fury flashed in her eyes. Stephanie snapped, "What are you doing here? Get out! You're not welcome!"

"I brought her," Xavier said.

Then he asked, "How's Mr. Park?"

Stephanie replied, "Grandpa's inside. Xavier, you should go see him."

Then she blocked Grace. "You're not coming in. My grandpa doesn't want to see you."

Grace, being polite, had brought some fruit and handed it to Xavier. "I wasn't planning on going in."

Xavier went inside, leaving Stephanie and Grace at the door.

Stephanie instinctively checked out Grace's wrist, hidden by her long sleeves in the cool morning, concealing the hand chain.

Stephanie hissed, "Grace, you bitch! You're so evil. Did you come here just to piss my grandpa off?"

Grace looked at her calmly. "Have I ever wronged you?"

She barely knew Stephanie and had only met her a few times.

Stephanie spat, "You stole my man! Xavier is mine. You know I like Xavier. Grace, I was nice to you because you were Ryan's wife, but what did you do? You scheming bitch, you're so good at playing games. Watch me teach you a lesson today!"

Stephanie glared daggers at her.

She had always been paranoid about someone stealing Xavier, so she messed up the faces of many beautiful socialites. She tricked them into beauty treatments that left their faces covered in acne or worse. That way, Xavier wouldn't be interested in those messed-up faces.

She had guarded against the beauties of Oakworth but never thought Xavier would fall for plain-looking Grace from a small town!

Grace didn't flinch. "Xavier was never your man. Liking him is your problem. If liking someone meant you could have them, then I like money. Why don't I have money without doing anything?"

Stephanie was stunned. She always thought Grace was a timid nobody. Now, with Xavier's backing, Grace was fierce and actually dared to talk back!
