Chapter 555 When It Comes to Strength, It Has to Be Scott

Edith froze, her first instinct to cover her eyes, but it was too late—Angela had already seen.

"Did he hit you?" Angela asked, glaring at Zander.

She knew Zander was bad news, but she hadn't expected him to be physically abusive. Zander, on the other hand, seemed to wear his actions like a badge of honor.

With a smug look, Zander replied, "Yeah, I hit her. So what? She had it coming."

Angela turned to Edith, disbelief written all over her face. "You didn't fight back?"

Angela had thought Edith's life was just tough, not that it involved domestic violence. If Zander could hit her in public, who knew what he did behind closed doors? How many times had Edith been beaten?

"Would she dare fight back?" Zander sneered, giving Edith a kick. "Ask her if she dares. This bitch!"

"Edith, where's your pride? You..." Angela was at a loss for words. She had thought Edith, a shrewd woman, would stand up for herself. But it seemed Edith didn't resist at all.

Angela felt it was undeserved, but Edith wasn't worthy of sympathy. This was all Edith's own doing; she had brought Zander into her life. Even if Zander was a scumbag, Edith should have fought back. It was her own inaction.

If it were Angela, she would rather go down fighting, even if it meant mutual destruction. She had nothing to lose but her life, so why not go all out?

Clearly, Edith didn't think that way. She knew that resisting would only result in worse beatings.

"Shut up! Angela, what right do you have to say this?" Edith picked up her sunglasses and put them back on. "It's because of you that I'm like this. You were supposed to marry him!"

Edith's tone was filled with venom and jealousy.

Angela fell silent.

"I don't get it. Are you just naturally stupid, or has your brain stopped working from disuse?" Angela lashed out, leaving Edith speechless. She pointed at Zander, "Get this straight. The one who made you like this, who hit you, who forced you to marry him, has always been Zander."

"What does this have to do with me? I was just protecting myself. You brought Zander into your life; you reap what you sow. How can you blame anyone else?"

Zander was displeased. "What do you mean? Ask Edith if I've ever wronged her."

The more Zander looked at Angela, the more he liked her fiery personality. She would be fun to play with.

Edith had long been subdued by Zander and didn't dare speak against him. She shook her head. "No."

"Then tell me, have I treated you badly?"

Edith shrank back in fear and said, "You've treated me well."

Angela was stunned by the scene. She had said all she could; Edith's lack of resistance was her own fault. Edith's life, whether good or bad, had nothing to do with her.

Zander nodded smugly. "You heard her. She said I treat her well."

"You were talking about a bet, right? A million dollars? How about I join in?"

Zander's gaze shifted to Scott, who was standing behind Angela. He didn't like Scott. Angela had married this poor guy instead of him, so Scott had essentially stolen his woman.

When it came to money, Zander had never lost. The idea of Scott competing with him financially was laughable.

Angela was taken aback by Zander's audacity. "Sure, what do you want to bet?"

Zander squinted, looking at Angela with a sleazy grin. "How about this: if you lose, you spend a night with me."

Just the thought of Angela made Zander itch. He had wanted to play with her for a long time.

Angela was disgusted. Zander didn't even consider if he was worthy. How could such a scumbag have the audacity to live in this world?

Scott was already fuming at Zander's proposition. "You..."

He had barely spoken a word when Edith grabbed his arm and smiled. "Fine, but if you lose, how about you livestream yourself eating shit?"

Zander's face darkened instantly. Angela wanted him to livestream eating shit!

But he was confident he wouldn't lose. Just in case, though, what if this poor guy really had a million dollars? After all, a million wasn't much.

Zander said, "What's the point of betting such a small amount? Let's make it a hundred million dollars."

A hundred million dollars—Scott definitely couldn't come up with that.

Scott scoffed. A hundred million dollars? Really?

Scott then said, "How about we go bigger? Let's buy this store."

Zander thought Scott was delusional. Did he know how much it would cost to buy this store? It wasn't something you could just fantasize about.

One dress here cost a million dollars. Even if the others were cheaper, buying the store would cost at least several billion dollars. Did Scott have that kind of money?

Angela tugged at Scott. "Don't be impulsive."

Why was Scott more impulsive than her? She wanted to refute these people, but spending billions wasn't necessary. It would be better to take out the money and bury Zander with it!

Zander said, "Fine, if you can buy this store, I'll livestream eating shit!"

Scott's eyes were cold. "Is eating shit enough?"

Angela felt the difference. When Zander said it, it was disgusting. But when Scott said it, it didn't feel gross at all. Scott's cold demeanor was quite attractive!

"What else do you want?" Zander asked.

Scott replied, "How about you castrate yourself? You keep thinking about other people's wives; you don't need it anyway."

Angela gave Scott a thumbs up. Brilliant.

When it came to skill, Scott was the best.

But was Scott doing this to avenge her? Angela felt that Scott was making the stakes so high because of Zander's insult to her.
