Chapter 489 She's getting married? How come she doesn't know?
"I just won't leave, Angela. You're so fierce. How can you manage if you get married?"
"But Mr. Ross has taken a liking to you. He thinks you can be a good stepmother to his son. I'm already looking at wedding dates for you."
"What?" Angela didn't expect Ainsley to be in such a hurry.
Didn't she make herself clear enough last time?
"I'm telling you this out of kindness. Do you want me to congratulate you on your upcoming wedding in advance?"
Angela thought Edith's smug look was really asking for a beating. Seeing that smug smile, she really wanted to slap her.
The Turner family was going too far. She was getting married, and she didn't even know about it.
If she really was getting married, would she be the last to know?
"Edith, are you all crazy? You and that woman are truly mother and daughter, both equally sick."
Edith held her phone and said, "Angela, how can you talk about Mom like that? It's not easy for her to raise you. We should be filial to her. Even if you don't listen, Mom wants you to get married for your good. She picked a good husband for you so you can have a good life."
"Stop pretending. I get annoyed just seeing you. Don't mention her in front of me. The biggest mistake of my life is having the Turner's blood. Does she deserve to be a mother? Does she deserve to be called Mom?"
Angela knew she and Ainsley were not meant to get along. Maybe because they were related by blood, their personalities were too similar—both hot-tempered and quick to argue.
She wasn't like Edith, who could pretend to be a good girl. So, every time she met Ainsley, they would clash.
"Angela, how can you say that? She's our mom. Why do you always upset her?"
Angela sneered, "You're the obedient one, the filial one? Then go ahead and please her."
Angela really didn't want to see Edith. She grabbed a broom and chased Edith out, "Get out!"
Edith left, holding her phone and saying goodbye to her friends.
Then she played the recording, listening to what Angela had just said.
Edith returned to the Turner Mansion, her eyes red.
Seeing this, Ainsley quickly came over, "Edith, what's wrong? Who bullied you?"
Edith shook her head, "No one, Mom."
"I know you too well. Did you get upset? Tell me. You're too kind, always keeping things to yourself."
Edith said, "I went shopping with friends today. I planned to buy some clothes. Since Angela runs a clothing store, I thought I'd take my friends there to support her business. It's not easy for her to work alone all these years. You and Dad give her money, but she doesn't take it. I could buy more, just as pocket money for her."
"But I didn't expect Angela to chase me away. She even cursed at me. It's one thing to curse at me, but she cursed at you too."
"I recorded it in case we fought, and I couldn't explain it later. But she said such things about you; I couldn't stand it."
Saying this, Edith played the recording, and Angela's words came out of the phone.
Ainsley's face turned extremely ugly after listening.
"That ungrateful girl!"
Edith quickly said, "Mom, don't be angry. Angela is just immature and doesn't understand your good intentions."
"I've been with you longer, so I know you always think about her, afraid she'll be bullied outside, afraid she won't live well. You want her to get married and pick a good husband for her, hoping she'll have a good future."
"I'm just angry that Angela said such things about you. I feel it's not worth it for you!"
After hearing this, Ainsley got even angrier, feeling all her efforts were in vain. Angela didn't understand!
"Edith is still the best. If that ungrateful girl were half as sensible as you, it would be great."
Ainsley held her arm and patted it gently. Edith smiled, "It's okay, Mom. Omari and I will take good care of you. Speaking of which, I haven't seen Omari for a long time. I wonder if he's been eating well these days. The servants made lunch, so I'll take some to him."
"Yes, Omari has been working hard." Ainsley didn't notice that Edith's smile was particularly bright when she mentioned Omari.
Angela was really fed up. Why did she have to get married?
Why did she have to please a man and take care of his child when she was living just fine?
Was she out of her mind?
She was living freely now, feeling better than anyone.
But she knew Ainsley wouldn't let it go. Ainsley always did whatever she thought of, even at her age.
To prevent Ainsley from doing something drastic, Angela thought she should quickly find someone and have a contract marriage.
Grace was having a meal with Scott when she heard the news.
She was shocked, "You're getting married?"
"To whom?"
"When?"
Scott looked up at Grace when he heard this.
Grace asked three questions in a row, and Angela, on the phone, said, "It's not what you think."
"I mean, I'll set a date, like ten days from now, and then I'll go on a dating spree. I must get married within these ten days!"
"Isn't that too rushed? What happened?"
"If I don't hurry, my mom will force me to get married. Last time, she pretended to be sick to trick me into a blind date at the hospital. The man was divorced with a kid. Today, I ran into Angela, and she said my mom is already looking at wedding dates."
"How could this happen?" Grace found it unbelievable.
Angela said, "Anyway, recommend any quality men you know to me. The requirement is just marriage, no feelings involved. I have to go now. I have ten blind dates arranged for tomorrow, and I can barely keep up."
Grace was silent.
For a moment, she didn't know what to say.
Family should be a source of happiness. They were grown-ups, not kids, with their judgment. Parents should support them, not create more problems.
Luckily, she had gotten through all that. Now Angela was starting to worry.
After hanging up, Scott asked, "Your friend is getting married?"
Grace shook her head, then suddenly looked up at Scott, "Scott, do you want to get married?"
If Scott wanted to, maybe he could pair up with Angela.
There were so many examples of love after marriage!
Scott shook his head immediately, "No!"
The thought of living with a woman scared Scott.
When it came to marriage, his first thought was living with that careless woman, Angela. Angela was so fierce; it would be impossible to live well!
