Chapter 274 Pleased with the Differential Treatment
Initially, Grace had intended to bring a portion of chicken soup for Angela as well. However, upon learning that Angela had already departed, Grace proceeded with only one portion of the soup in hand.
Unexpectedly, when Grace ascended the stairs, she was surprised to find Omari not in the room but in the hallway.
Seeing Omari, Grace hesitated to approach him. She was avoiding Omari and was considering waiting until he left before going over, but Omari saw her.
At the sight of Grace, Omari smiled and called out to her, "Grace."
With no other option, Grace approached Omari, noticing the visibly severe bandages wrapped around his leg. Concerned, she asked, "Omari, why aren't you resting inside?"
Next to Omari were his secretary and assistant. Knowing Omari's feelings towards Grace, the assistant spoke up, "Mr. Turner isn't feeling well. He said lying in bed is uncomfortable. He's been feeling dizzy and he might have a concussion. Mr. Turner hasn't eaten much all day, and we're not sure if his body can handle it."
The assistant's words suddenly made Grace feel pressured. She should have brought chicken soup for Omari as well, but she didn't want Omari to think she was giving him hope.
"Stop," Omari deliberately scolded his assistant. "I'm fine, Grace. You don't need to worry."
He looked at Grace, his gentle eyes seemingly overflowing with emotion.
Since Grace already knew, Omari no longer needed to restrain himself. "Grace, are you here to see Xavier? Is he doing well?"
"Yes," Grace replied, "He should be able to be discharged soon."
"Really? That's great news. Grace, we're still friends, right? Can you also come visit me often?" Omari didn't want to hold back anymore.
"Omari, I..." Grace hesitaed to speak.
"Are you here to bring dinner for Xavier? Do you have any for me?" Omari still smiled, but his gaze and words made Grace feel pressured and uncomfortable.
Grace said, "Sorry, what would you like to eat? I can go get it for you now."
"Sure," Omari agreed.
Despite Grace purchasing the item instead of making it herself, Omari still felt it was enough.
After Omari mentioned what he wanted to eat, Grace nodded. "Wait for me."
Seeing that Grace wanted to deliver the dinner to Xavier first, Omari narrowed his eyes. "I'm a bit hungry now. How about you give me the dinner you're holding, and I'll give it to Xavier?"
"Thanks, but no need. I can give it to him later," Grace refused.
It wasn't that she was afraid Omari would eat it; it was mainly because if Omari went to find Xavier, they may have a conflict.
The scene was something Grace didn't dare to imagine.
"Okay." Omari gave a bitter smile.
Then Grace went downstairs and bought some food for Omari from the nearby restaurants. When she brought it upstairs, Omari hadn't gone back to his ward, seemingly waiting for Grace.
Grace handed over the food she bought. "Eat it while it's hot; it's freshly made."
Omari's assistant and secretary helped him stand up. Omari's assistant said, "Ms. Lewis, could you help us put the dinner inside? There's a dining table over there."
Grace thought momentarily and agreed. "Okay."
Grace thought Omari's two secretaries might not have eaten either, so she bought a bit more. She opened the food boxes and said, "If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving now."
Grace was about to turn around but was grabbed by Omari.
Omari said, "Grace, can you spend more time with me? Do you only care about Xavier?"
"Grace, do you know? When I was driving, all I could think about was you. I realized I still can't control my feelings for you."
Grace pressed her lips together and replied, "I'm sorry."
A hint of hurt flashed in Omari's eyes. "You said you have someone you like. Is it Xavier?"
Grace remained silent.
Omari quickly changed the topic. "There's so much food. How about you join me for a bit?"
Grace thought she had made herself clear, but why was Omari still...
She said, "I'd rather not. Sorry, Omari, I think we..."
"I know, I didn't mean it that way. I just want you to sit down and have a meal with me."
A voice suddenly came from the door. It was Xavier. "What do you want to talk about, Mr. Turner? Mind if I join?"
Xavier had come out of his ward and saw Grace in Omari's room as he passed by.
He had been waiting for Grace for so long, only to find out she had come to visit Omari first.
"Mr. Montgomery, you're just in time. Want to join us for dinner? Grace specially brought it for me," Omari said warmly.
"Really?" Xavier looked at Grace.
"He can't eat it!" Grace quickly stopped him, afraid of any conflict between Xavier and Omari. She hurried to the door and pulled Xavier.
"Why can't I eat it?" Xavier asked.
Grace said, "Do you remember why you're in the hospital? Your stomach isn't well, and you can't eat rich foods. Have you forgotten the foods the doctor said you can and cannot eat?"
Xavier smiled and looked at Omari, seemingly showing off how much Grace cared about him.
Xavier said, "Glad that you remember."
Omari almost broke the disposable cutlery in his hand.
Grace didn't know about the silent struggle between Xavier and Omari. She said, "It doesn't matter if I only remember; you need to remember too. You have to keep it in mind every day."
Xavier said, "Got it. So what am I having for dinner?"
"I brought you something. Let's go back to your room," Grace said, pushing Xavier out. Then she looked at Omari. "Sorry, Omari. Take care and rest well. I'll be leaving now."
Before Omari could say anything, Grace left his room.
Xavier was still outside and hadn't gone back yet. Seeing Grace, his eyes darkened.
"Did you personally bring him dinner?" Xavier asked through gritted teeth.
"No, it's a long story. It's not something I can explain in a few words," Grace said, pulling Xavier's hand and leading him inside.
Xavier lowered his eyes, looking at their intertwined hands, and his lips curved slightly.
Grace went to the dining table and took out the dinner she brought. "I was delayed a bit, so it might be a little cold. Should I heat it up in the microwave?"
Xavier said, "No need."
Just by looking at the dishes, Xavier could tell it was a meal Grace had made herself.
He had seen Omari's dinner earlier, and it was clearly bought from downstairs.
Grace's different treatment made Xavier very satisfied.
