Chapter 189 Ryan Finally Showed Some Intelligence

"Get lost." Ryan didn't want to say another word. He was in a foul mood, and anyone who came near him was just asking for trouble.
His mind was stuck on the image of Xavier walking out with that woman.
He'd bought so many things to win her over—roses, luxury items—and he hadn't even seen her face. Meanwhile, she was off to a hotel with Xavier.
Who fed him the lie that Grace was going to a hotel with some other guy? Ryan had believed it and stupidly went there.
With so many shares in the company, if he transferred them all to Grace, Patrick might kill him.
Luckily, apart from the media, no one knew about today's mess. Otherwise, he'd be a laughingstock worldwide.
Ryan needed to figure out how to talk to Grace about the shares. At worst, he could be nicer to her and strike a deal. He could pretend to transfer the shares to her, and then she could transfer them back.
But what if Grace didn't agree?
Did he piss off Xavier this time?
Kelly had no clue what was going on. The more Ryan stayed silent, the more anxious she got.
"Ryan, what happened? Why did someone else answer your phone when I called? Did you go out? Who did you meet?" Kelly's urgency pushed Ryan over the edge.
Ryan sat up abruptly. "Didn't you get it when I told you to scram? You're so annoying! Get out!"
His hand, pointing at the door, was trembling. His bloodshot eyes were filled with rage, showing he was genuinely furious.
For a moment, Kelly even feared that Ryan might lash out at her. Terrified, she decided to exit the hospital room.
She then quietly went to a less crowded area and contacted the media with another number.
The media answered quickly, and Kelly eagerly asked, "Did you get the photos?"
"What photos?" the other side asked directly.
"The news I gave you about Grace going to a hotel with another man. Didn't you go?"
Why was the media so calm, as if nothing had happened? This made Kelly suddenly panic.
'Could my plan have failed again? No way, it's not gonna happen,' Kelly thought to herself.
Someone had been watching them all night. Grace and that man hadn't left.
And they had seen the media go over. To avoid being discovered, they had then left. What went wrong?
"We went, but there was no Grace. Don't contact us with fake news again."
"What? How is that possible!" Kelly shouted.
However, the media had already impatiently hung up. If it weren't for this person calling them over, they wouldn't have offended Xavier. Now, who knew if Xavier would retaliate against them?
Even though they had seen Xavier's big news, no one dared to post it.
Kelly, still in disbelief, asked, "How could Grace not be there? Did you go to the wrong place? I'm sure Grace was there!"
But as soon as she finished speaking, she realized the other side had already hung up.
Kelly, disregarding the risk of exposing her identity, called several other media outlets. Mentioning Grace, they all hung up after a few words.
Kelly bit her lip, wondering, 'What is going on?'
Grace couldn't have been absent, and the reporters couldn't have all gone to the wrong location. The room number she provided was accurate.
With the reporters dodging the issue and Ryan fainting, something must have transpired.
The only way to get to the bottom of this was through Ryan.
Kelly didn't waste any time. She hurried back, whipped up a bunch of Ryan's favorite dishes, and returned to the hospital in the afternoon.
She knocked on the door and went in.
"Ryan, I'm sorry. I must have done something to upset you. I know I was wrong. I was just too worried about you and acted impulsively. I'm sorry." Kelly softened her voice and even knelt by Ryan's hospital bed.
Ryan still looked at Kelly coldly and didn't ask her to get up.
He was still angry and needed an outlet, but he didn't want to move.
Kelly's silent tears made her look pitiful, which only annoyed Ryan more.
"Stop crying, please. It's annoying," Ryan said abruptly.
That other woman was so beautiful. When she left, it felt like she was stepping on his heart. Ryan had seen it; even her feet were beautiful.
Ryan was indeed hungry. Catching a whiff of the food, he sat up and reached for the utensils to dig into the meal Kelly had brought.
Watching Ryan eat, Kelly got up from the floor, poured him a glass of water, and settled down beside him.
"Ryan, when I called you this morning, someone else answered your phone. They said you fainted at a hotel. What happened at the hotel?" Kelly asked.
"Nothing," Ryan mumbled.
Seeing that Ryan didn't seem angry at her question, Kelly continued, "I also heard the person who answered say they were from the media and that they received a tip-off. Was Grace with someone else last night?"
Ryan paused his eating and looked at Kelly. "What are you trying to say?"
Kelly thought she could control Ryan and that he wasn't angry, so she asked directly. "I heard Grace went to a hotel with another man last night. Did you see her when you went to the hotel today?"
Ryan frowned. "Heard from whom?"
Kelly mumbled, "Just some reporters."
Kelly had no idea about the reporters running into Xavier today.
And Xavier's harsh words meant no one dared to talk about today's events. Kelly couldn't have known from the reporters; she was lying.
So, was this Kelly's doing?
Ryan observed Kelly's expression and said calmly, "Someone sent me false information. Grace wasn't in the room."
"How could that be? Grace had to be in the room." Kelly realized she had spoken too hastily and might have said the wrong thing.
Ryan had caught on. "How are you so sure Grace was there? Did you send the tip to the reporters?"
"It wasn't me," Kelly tried to defend herself.
But Ryan seemed to have regained his wits. "The photos of us were taken by the media you contacted, right? And now you're using the same trick. Do you think I'm an idiot?"
"It's not like that, Ryan. You misunderstood," Kelly insisted.
"Still trying to lie? Show me your phone. If there's no message to the media, I'll believe you." Ryan commanded.
Kelly's tears fell. She knew she had no chance to explain. Ryan had made up his mind, and lying further was useless.
Kelly hesitated, her voice strained. "I saw Grace entering a hotel with a man yesterday. I thought you were upset because of Grace and I wanted to support you through this."
She looked up to see Ryan's face full of disgust.
Ryan asked in an incredulous voice, "Did you really see Grace with another man, or did you set it up?"
