Chapter 266 Tricked Grace into Bed

"How about I call Mason back? He probably hasn't rested well either. I think he can keep you company while you sleep," Grace suggested.

"Grace!" Xavier gritted his teeth, then pressed his lips together.

"Mr. Montgomery looks lively. You don't seem to have any issues either, so I'll be on my way," Grace said deliberately.

Xavier said, "I had a stomachache all night and didn't rest well. I have sleep disorders. I..."

"Mr. Montgomery, is it truly so difficult for you to speak with sincerity? You must have thought I haven't rested all night, which is why you asked me here to rest, isn't it?" Grace asked.

Xavier turned his head to the side, refusing to admit it.

"Clearly, you indeed care about me but act so harsh. With such an unlikable manner, how do you still have so many admirers..." Grace stopped herself, realizing it didn't sound right.

Why did so many people like Xavier? It must be because Xavier was worth it.

Just like now, he must be worried about her.

"I never had such thoughts," Xavier said coldly, refusing to admit it.

Grace knew that although Xavier had a sharp tongue, he had a soft heart. She said, "I'm not sleepy. It's you who needs the rest."

Xavier lowered his gaze, realizing Grace didn't want to stay.

This tactic didn't seem to work.

Xavier looked at the IV needle in his hand, preparing to pull it out. Grace quickly stopped him. "What are you doing?"

"Don't move. If the needle shifts and the IV doesn't go into your vein, your hand will swell," Grace said.

With that, she touched Xavier's hand and realized how cold it was.

She quickly wrapped Xavier's hand in hers to warm him up. "Why are your hands so so cold? Are you cold?"

Xavier looked up at her, seemingly in a daze.

"If you're cold, wear more. Besides the stomachache, you don't have a cold or fever, right?" Grace lifted her hand and placed the back of it on Xavier's forehead to feel his temperature.

"Cold," Xavier uttered one word.

"Then lie down and cover yourself with the blanket," Grace instructed.

Xavier said, "I'm still cold."

"Then I'll ask the nurse for another blanket," Grace responded.

Just as Grace was about to turn away, Xavier's grip tightened around her wrist with significant force, forcefully pulling her back towards him.

Grace fell onto the bed out of inertia.

Xavier took the blanket and wrapped Grace within it as well, saying, "This way, you won't feel cold anymore."

Enveloped in Xavier's powerful embrace, Grace dared not make a single movement. She gazed intently at Xavier's face, so close to hers, as he gently closed his eyes.

His eyelashes were thick and dense, and from this distance, Grace could see each one clearly.

Her heart was beating even more wildly than last night. Last night, Xavier might have been drunk and unaware of what he was doing, but now he was completely sober.

Grace remained still. After a while, she tried to get up, but Xavier's grip was too strong.

"Xavier, Xavier?" Grace called his name, but he didn't respond.

Could he have fallen asleep?

Xavier's speed of falling asleep was astonishing.

Grace had no choice but to stay in that position. To make herself more comfortable, she took off her shoes and lay beside Xavier.

She looked at Xavier's face, quiet and charming.

She gazed at him for a while, and perhaps due to the comfort of the pillow, drowsiness gradually overcame her. Grace fell into a deep sleep in Xavier's embrace.

Feeling Grace settle down in his arms, Xavier opened his eyes.

Seeing her asleep, a slight smile appeared on his lips. Holding her made him feel a sense of fulfillment.

For the first time, Xavier wished time could pause at this moment.

Victor, having heard about Xavier's hospitalization, rushed to the hospital.

Xavier had sounded fine on the phone in the morning. How did he end up in the hospital so suddenly? Was it that serious?

Victor asked the nurse for Xavier's ward and hurried over.

All the wards here were VIP. Victor knocked on the door of Xavier's hospital room. Hearing no response, he went straight in out of deep concern.

"Xavier? Are you okay? You are freaking me out! you..." Victor said as he walked in.

However, as soon as he entered, he saw the raised blanket on the bed.

It didn't look like just one person.

As he got closer, he saw two heads under the blanket.

Xavier was already awake, he staring at Victor coldly.

"I actually came to check on you," Victor said.

"Keep your voice down." Xavier said.

"I promise that I'll be quiet. I'm just glad you're okay. I thought you were seriously ill," Victor said.

So this was a ploy. Xavier was good; he had managed to get Grace into bed so quickly.

"I'm fine," Xavier said, though his stomach still hurt.

"Then I won't disturb your alone time. I'll leave first." Victor placed the gifts he had brought down and quickly made his exit.

Feeling utterly fatigued, Grace succumbed to sleep for a duration of two hours. Upon awakening, her bleary eyes met the sight of a sturdy chest before her, momentarily causing her to question her surroundings.

There was a knock on the door, and this time it was the nurse doing rounds.

Grace quickly got up from the bed. The nurse didn't seem surprised. "Are you his girlfriend? How is the patient feeling? Any discomfort?"

Grace wasn't sure if Xavier had any discomfort.

Just then, Xavier's voice came from behind. "No discomfort."

The nurse came over, removed the needle from Xavier's hand, and said, "Did you just have blood drawn for tests? The results should be out. A family member can go get them."

At this moment, Grace wasn't sure if she should admit to being Xavier's family.

Clearly, the nurse had misunderstood. Before Grace could speak, Xavier said, "Okay, thank you."

Grace didn't know how to face Xavier. She stood up. "I'll go get the report."

With that, she left the ward. After running around with Angela yesterday, she knew where to get the test results.

She asked the doctor about Xavier's condition. The doctor said his stomach was in such bad shape that he still managed to endure it. He was quite a tough person.

Xavier's condition wasn't much better than a stomach ulcer.

Xavier's condition was chronic, posing challenges in terms of treatment. It necessitated that he prioritize sufficient rest and maintain a consistent three-meal schedule, while refraining from smoking and consuming alcohol. Furthermore, he was advised to avoid spicy and irritating foods to prevent the onset of stomach pains.

"What can he eat?" Grace asked.

The doctor listed some edible foods and precautions, which Grace carefully noted down.

It was rather improbable to expect Xavier to rest adequately. She would have to rely on Mason to ensure Xavier had regular meals.
