Chapter 563 Kidnapped
"Jane planned to come to Vesperia, and it looks like she landed in Skigeth. She should've touched down about an hour ago, but when I tried calling her, she didn't answer. Even her entourage is unreachable. I think something might've happened. Can you help me check it out?"
Robert was in Aetheria, and even if he left right away, it would take him over ten hours to get there. He had no clue why Jane suddenly decided to come to Vesperia or why she had gone missing. Jane's status was far from ordinary, which made the situation even more alarming.
"Are you saying Princess Jane York came to Skigeth?" Grace was a bit taken aback. Jane was a princess, the wife of a nation's leader. If she were visiting, it would likely be to a major city like Oakworth or Chicago, or maybe a popular tourist spot. Why would she fly straight from Aetheria to Skigeth?
"Got it. I'll have someone look into it right away."
Grace quickly hung up the phone and turned to Xavier. "Xavier, Robert said the princess from Aetheria landed in Skigeth about an hour ago, but now no one can reach her. Can you help me find out if she's still in Skigeth?"
"Don't worry, I'll get someone on it right now."
Xavier made some calls and soon had some information. "Give me Robert's contact number," Xavier said. He planned to contact Robert directly, knowing that Grace would only worry more if she knew the details.
"Is it serious?" Grace asked.
"It's not serious, just complicated. Give me Robert's number, and I'll handle it."
"Alright." Grace handed over Robert's phone number.
After dropping Grace off at home, Xavier called Robert. "This is Xavier, Grace's boyfriend. I looked into it, and it seems like Princess Jane York was taken by someone right after she landed. As for where she is now, it's still unclear."
Dorian was the country's leader, and Jane was his wife. It was unusual for her to travel so casually. Dorian had some enemies, but Xavier wasn't sure if they were involved.
"Can you help me find out where Jane is? I'm on my way, and I've notified Dorian. But you know, it's not easy for us here. I know this is a lot to ask, but I'm desperate."
Xavier frowned. "Sorry, I don't get involved in political matters."
Xavier was a businessman and stayed out of political conflicts, especially those involving national leaders. Even his own country's leaders had tried to recruit him, but he always refused.
"I'll think of something else. Thanks for your help." Robert quickly hung up.
Xavier remained troubled. Something was definitely off. The princess of Aetheria being kidnapped right after landing—who would do such a thing, and why? Why did Jane come to Skigeth?
Despite claiming he didn't care, Xavier instructed Mason to investigate. He might not help others, but he needed to know what was going on.
Mason soon had news. Jane's departure from Aetheria had been reported recently, and the culprits might be some criminals from Vesperia, possibly aiming to stir up trouble between Vesperia and Aetheria.
That seemed plausible, but Xavier doubted it was that simple. He kept digging, placing people to secretly ensure Jane's safety. No matter the reason, Jane couldn't die in Vesperia; it would cause enormous trouble.
Xavier's gaze was fixed ahead, deep in thought. Skigeth, of all places in Vesperia. The Coleman family was based in Aetheria and likely familiar with the royal family. He wondered if Steven knew anything.
Steven had been busy and hadn't stayed in Skigeth long. Xavier made a call to ask.
Steven said, "Although we have significant influence in Aetheria and are considered nobility, we're not closely connected to the royal family. Dorian is quite capable and upright, someone to admire. His appearance is more domestic, likely due to his grandmother's heritage. It wasn't easy for him to become king; I heard he faced some challenges in his youth, but I don't know the details."
"The Coleman family has always thrived in business but never engaged in politics. We have no ties with the royal family. As for why Princess Jane York came to Skigeth, I have no idea."
Steven genuinely couldn't think of a reasonable explanation. It was clear Jane didn't come because of the Coleman family. Jane rarely left the palace, making her visit even more puzzling.
"I'll arrange an investigation. We'll keep in touch," Steven promised.
Jane was now held captive, shouting, "Let me out! Do you know who I am? How dare you capture me! Who are you?"
"I'll have you all executed! You deserve to die! Release me immediately!"
Jane spoke in Aetherian, and her captors exchanged confused glances. "What is this blonde woman saying? Do you understand her?"
The others shook their heads. "Who knows? It's probably not good. Let her rant."
"Yeah, what does it matter to us? But she's quite pretty, doesn't look her age at all. What if we have some fun with her?"
As soon as he spoke, another man slapped him on the head. "What are you thinking? Do you know who she is? We may not be good people, but we Vesperians don't do such things. Do you want to disgrace us internationally?"
Chastened, the men abandoned the idea. Jane continued her angry tirade, but they ignored her, drinking and grilling meat.
Jane regretted not listening to Jared. She shouldn't have come to Vesperia. Jared had warned her it was chaotic, but she hadn't believed him. She'd heard Vesperia was civilized, with excellent security and friendly, hospitable people, a country with a great international reputation, popular with tourists.
Now she realized it was all lies!
