Chapter 639 She Thinks Xavier Is Still Alive

Killer was gearing up to head to Aetheria soon.

Meanwhile, Grace had made her way back to Skigeth.

Grace went over to Angela's house to pick up her kid.

As soon as Marcus saw Grace, he bolted over and hugged her tightly. "Mommy!"

Seeing her child, Grace's heart melted.

"Sweetie, have you been any trouble for Auntie these past few days?"

"No way! I've been super good. You can ask Auntie if you don't believe me."

Angela chuckled. "Marcus has been an angel."

"Yeah, right. I know how much of a rascal he can be. If he stayed at your place for a week, he'd probably tear it apart."

Grace's son was anything but obedient; he was a little troublemaker who could take on the world.

Marcus was a genius, always full of ideas and eager to put them into practice.

And those practices often led to chaos; he was quite the handful.

"Perfect timing, dinner's ready. Come join us," Angela invited.

"Oh, I don't want to impose."

"Don't be silly. It's not like I cooked. Your cousin did. He heard Marcus was here, so he's been around these past few days."

After her grandfather passed away, Grace and Scott hadn't been in touch much, both busy with their careers.

Grace was running her own company and managing the DG Group, her career was soaring. Angela wasn't far behind; her fashion studio had grown into a company and was now a popular brand with global recognition.

In comparison, the Turner family remained lukewarm. Even though Ainsley was eager to cozy up to his daughter, Angela didn't bother with him.

Grace didn't decline and stayed for dinner.

Angela leaned in, noticing a strange smell on Grace. "Grace, do you want to take a shower first? What's that smell on you?"

It was the scent of blood from the airport. Grace had cleaned up but hadn't showered, so there was still a faint trace.

"Sure, I'll take a shower first."

When Grace came out after her shower, dinner was ready.

After dinner, Angela and Grace chatted.

"Grace, how was your trip to Thalassia?"

Grace said, "Angela, I feel like Xavier is still alive."

For some reason, she had a strong premonition.

"Grace, you don't really think that blurry figure in the photo is Xavier, do you? I showed the photo to Scott too, and he doesn't think so."

The photo was too blurry to make out the face.

But Grace was convinced it was Xavier, which worried Angela.

Grace said, "It's not just because of the photo."

It was her intuition!

"I think you need a good rest, Grace. Are you planning to stay in Skigeth or go back to Oakworth?"

"I might go to Aetheria."

"Aetheria? Are you taking Marcus with you?"

"Yes," Grace nodded. "I want to visit Steven, Thomas, and my aunt and uncle. They haven't seen Marcus in a while. Plus, Mr. Astor's birthday is coming up, and I need to attend."

Although Grace and Dorian had reconciled, it had been so many years, and Grace was now an adult. She still couldn't bring herself to call him "Dad."

Moreover, calling him "Dad" would have repercussions for Dorian.

Even though Dorian and Jane had divorced, they had been married for over twenty years. If it came out that he had a nearly thirty-year-old daughter, it would be a huge scandal.

The media wouldn't let go of such news easily, and it could drag the Coleman family or others into it, which would be problematic.

Grace considered the bigger picture, while Dorian worried about Grace feeling wronged. He had been trying to make up for it in every way possible over the years.

But Grace didn't feel wronged. She wasn't a child anymore and understood the importance of the bigger picture.

She knew Dorian's difficulties and that it wasn't his fault; he had been harmed by people like Jared.

And after learning the truth, Dorian's actions made Grace feel quite good.

Even though she didn't call him "Dad," their relationship was still good.

"Grace, you've changed so much," Angela said, looking at her.

Five years could really change a lot.

"How have I changed?"

"You've changed, but I can't quite put my finger on it. You're more beautiful and confident."

Angela felt that Grace had grown up a lot, almost overnight, as if God had forced her to mature.

Angela knew Grace had always been independent and had her ideas.

But back then, Grace was only responsible for her own life.

Now, Grace carried too much weight, not even having the right to be weak.

Because so many people cared about her, but sometimes that care could be a burden.

She couldn't cry freely because it would worry others, and Grace didn't want to worry anyone, so she pretended everything was fine and strong, enduring it for five years.

"Grace, I wish we could go back to our childhood when we were always so happy," Angela said, placing her hand on Grace's shoulder.

Grace asked, "Aren't you happy now?"

"It's different!" Angela wanted Grace to be happier.

She had been unhappy as a child because of her chaotic family.

As an adult, she realized there were even more worries, too many things affecting her.

Grace leaned in. "Don't be sad. Smile for me, Angela!"

Grace reached out and pinched Angela's cheek, making her smile.

See, Grace was always like this. Despite the immense pressure she felt, she always comforted others.

If Xavier were still around, he wouldn't know how much his heart would ache for her.

Grace soon left with her son. After spending a night at The Bameran Villa, they returned to Oakworth.

Grace attended two meetings, handled her upcoming work, and then went to Aetheria with Marcus.

It had been a long time since she saw her cousin and aunt and uncle. When Grace and Marcus arrived, they were showered with affection.

Especially Bella, who loved to pinch Marcus's cheeks, which he hated because he thought it wasn't cool. So at home, the person he feared most was Bella.

Bella was also about to marry Steven.

They had known each other for years, and although Bella always said Steven didn't like her, he cared for her deeply. They had grown up together and knew each other well.

Steven wasn't good at expressing himself, but his love was evident in the details.

It seemed like everything was getting better. Grace hoped no one else would have regrets like hers.
