Chapter 386 How About You Consider My Three Grandsons?

"Have you been crying?" Chase asked, peering into Grace's eyes.

Grace knew her eyes were a bit red, but she didn't think it was that noticeable.

With a faint smile, Grace replied, "No, just got some sand in my eyes."

Chase pulled her into a hug. "You must've been through something tough. Don't worry, I'm here."

He patted her back so gently that Grace, who didn't want to cry, felt tears welling up.

Grace wished Chase were really her grandfather; his embrace was so comforting.

If her grandfather were still alive, she would have loved to throw herself into his arms and be pampered.

But Chase wasn't her grandfather; he might be Wendy's.

Grace said softly, "I'm fine, really."

Chase didn't let go. He sighed, "Reminds me of Elizabeth, always so headstrong. Even when she was hurt, she never told me."

Grace smiled, "She must've been happy and proud to have a family like yours."

Chase's eyes turned red. "I haven't seen her in so long. Little one, where are your parents?"

Grace was surprised Chase called her "little one." No one had ever called her that. From his gaze, she felt he really saw her as family.

Grace shook her head. "My mom passed away when I was a kid. I haven't seen her in a long time either."

"Then I'll protect you from now on," Chase said seriously.

Chase felt Grace reminded him of Elizabeth, giving him a sense of closeness.

Steven said his granddaughter had been found. Even if Grace wasn't his granddaughter, he wanted to treat her like family.

Grace wanted to agree, but she knew no one would protect her. She had to protect herself.

She shook her head. "I can protect myself. What if I end up clinging to you in the future?" she teased.

Chase smiled, "If you end up clinging to me, that would be my wish. I actually have three grandsons, all top-notch guys. The eldest just hit thirty, and the twins are no slouches either. Ever thought about giving them a shot?"

Grace almost laughed. She had met his grandsons, and they were indeed excellent.

But she had someone else in her heart, someone even more outstanding, Xavier.

"What's wrong? Do you have a boyfriend?" Chase asked.

Grace replied, "I'm single now. We broke up."

Chase said, "What kind of fool would break up with a great girl like you?"

Grace laughed, "You've barely met me, and you're already singing my praises?"

Chase said confidently, "I have a good eye for people. You're a gem. I wish you were my granddaughter."

Chase held Grace's hands, not wanting to let go.

Soon, Steven and the others came over.

Thomas was surprised to see Grace.

Grace said, "I saw your grandpa alone over there, looking lost. It was cold outside, so I brought him to the car."

"Thank you, Grace," Steven said gratefully.

"My pleasure. Maybe I have a connection with your grandpa," Grace responded.

Steven wanted to take Chase away, but Chase wouldn't let go of Grace's hands. Steven said, "Grandpa, Aunt's daughter is still waiting in the restaurant. Don't you really want to see her? Let's go now."

Chase still wouldn't let go. "Your name is Grace?"

Grace nodded, and Chase added, "I want Grace to come with us."

The others looked at Grace, and Steven smiled helplessly, "Grace, do you have a flight to catch?"

Grace replied, "I came to find someone, but she should have boarded the plane by now."

Steven suggested, "Why don't you join us for lunch? We seem to have a connection, and Grandpa likes you so much. You also know the Montgomery family."

Grace knew that this meal with the Coleman family and Wendy was essentially a family recognition banquet.

They were a family, and it didn't seem appropriate for her to go.

Sensing Grace's hesitation, Steven continued, "If it weren't for you, who knows how long it would have taken us to find Grandpa. Given his frail health, any delay could have been disastrous. So, as a token of our gratitude, please allow us to treat you to this lunch."

Thomas chimed in, "For Chase's sake, come with us. Grandpa likes you so much."

Chase wouldn't let go of Grace, so she had no choice but to agree.

Chase wanted to ride with Grace. Thomas and Steven had driven their own cars, so they had to drive back themselves.

Steven sent the address to Grace, and she could drive there directly.

Grace's car left first. Thomas watched the car's shadow and sighed, "Last time, Grandpa was so excited to see Grace. Is she really not our sister? I wish she were our sister."

Steven said, "I think so, too, but the test showed she isn't our sister."

"Could there be a mistake in the test?" Thomas murmured.

Grace soon arrived at the address, a luxurious restaurant in Skigeth.

She got out of the car first and then helped Chase out.

Scott was at the restaurant entrance. When he saw Grace, he was stunned. "Grace? How are you with Grandpa?"

Scott wanted to help Chase, but Chase slapped his hands away. "Don't touch me. I want to be with Grace."

Scott was shocked.

Chase had a stubborn temper. He had been a dominant figure in his younger days, and even though he was older now, he wasn't kind to everyone.

If Chase held someone in low regard, he wouldn't waste a word on them. There were few people who earned his affection.

But now, he was willing to be with Grace, especially for their second meeting.

"Lead the way," Chase commanded.

"Well..." Scott was confused, taking a few steps and then looking back. When he saw Steven and Thomas behind, he wanted to ask what was going on, but they didn't say anything.

They reached the private room door, and the waiter opened it.

Wendy was initially displeased, resenting that they had all abandoned her. Now, well past mealtime, she was famished.

She was complaining to Patrick on the phone, but Patrick told her to be patient. When she saw Chase, she had to be sweet and win his favor.

However, Wendy believed that since it was they who sought her out, they should have been treating her like a princess, exalting her with utmost reverence.

Wendy believed that if she humbled herself too much to please them, they would never regard her with any real respect.

But Wendy decided to listen to Patrick. When she heard voices at the door, she tried to smile.

The smile, however, froze on her face when she saw Grace.
