Chapter 268 The Wedding Continues
Xavier picked up the medicine and obediently took it.
Grace picked up her phone once more and sent a message to the Bameran Villa, asking them to prepare some light dishes and deliver them.
Grace and Xavier remained silent, simply gazing at each other. Grace was the first to look away.
It seemed like they should find something to talk about, but Grace didn't know what to say. After thinking for a while, she finally asked, "Where's Mason? Has he gone off to handle something?"
"Something's up at the office, so he went to handle it," Xavie said.
"Do you want to get a couple more people to take care of you? I see that the patients in the VIP ward here seem to have a lot of people looking after them."
Particularly in the case of someone like Ryan, almost all of his household staff were summoned when he was hospitalized.
Ryan was also in this hospital, and she hoped not to run into him.
"No need, I'm not disabled," Xavier said.
"Okay." Grace nodded and then yawned.
Despite having slept for a while, she was still a bit tired.
"If you're sleepy, go to sleep," Xavier said.
Grace shook her head. "I'm not sleepy."
"I still have some work to handle. The bed is empty, and there's a sofa over there. Go rest for a while. If you don't get enough sleep, how can you take care of me?" Xavier said.
Grace was silent. She hadn't even said she was going to take care of him!
"Can't work be dealt with later? You've been admitted to the hospital and still won't rest properly," Grace complained.
She also had a lot of work to do, but certainly not as much as Xavier.
Xavier said, "I'll be done soon. Don't worry. The doctor didn't tell me to stay in bed all the time."
Grace mumbled, "Who's worried about you?"
Howver, Grace didn't stand on ceremony with Xavier. She went to the bed and lay down to rest for a while. Xavier indeed had work to do, but with Grace sleeping nearby, he typed much more quietly.
When Grace woke up again, the people from the Bameran villa had brought the food.
They brought two meals, one light and one regular.
Grace was surprised; she didn't expect they had prepared a meal for her too. "Thank you, Kieran."
Kieran said, "Mr. Montgomery instructed us to do this."
Grace didn't expect Xavier to have told Kieran specifically. He was always so thoughtful. She lowered her head and ate silently. She hadn't had much appetite for the past few days. Today, however, the food seemed exceptionally enticing!
In another ward, Ryan stared at the ceiling, his eyes vacant.
Next to him, Kelly was peeling an apple, while Amy glared at Kelly.
Despite the tension in the air, Kelly maintained normalcy, wearing an unaffected smile. After peeling the apple, she cut it into pieces and handed it to Ryan. "Ryan, have some apple."
"Get lost!" Ryan was annoyed just looking at Kelly. Such a despicable woman.
Kelly was utterly malicious.
She was the one who had brought him to such a wretched state, yet now Kelly stood before him, feigning innocence with a pitiful demeanor.
Yet, at this moment, he could do nothing against Kelly.
Kelly was ruthless; she had completely incapacitated him. The damage even affected his internal organs. He would never produce sperm again, meaning even in vitro fertilization was out of the question. His only child was the one inside Kelly's womb.
Ryan felt utterly desolate, filled with a desire to strangle Kelly.
In the past, he had lavished Kelly with abundant care and generosity, fulfilling her desires for branded items, cars, and houses without hesitation.
What had he done to deserve this from Kelly?
The fruit was knocked over, but Kelly wasn't angry. "Ryan, I know you're not satisfied with me, but my love for you is real. I did all this because I love you." Kelly said.
"Get out! Mom, get her out of here!" Ryan roared in anger.
Amy naturally sided with Ryan. She didn't like Kelly either. Kelly was the one who caused Ryan's misfortune; she was also behind the car accident that was staged to hit Ryan. She was even worse than Grace!
"Didn't you hear? Ryan told you to get out!" Amy yelled, pushing Kelly.
Kelly stumbled a bit. "I advise you not to lay a hand on me. While I might be fine, the child in my womb is still in the early stages. If anything were to happen, I might not be affected, but the consequences for your family would be far from certain."
Filled with frustration, Amy was overwhelmed by the urge to slap Kelly as a means to release her anger. However, the thought of potentially hurting her grandson held her back.
Once her grandson was born, she would teach Kelly a lesson!
Then they would keep the child and kick Kelly out!
Kelly was very proud. She now held complete sway within the Montgomery family.
She resumed her seat and continued, "I heard that Ryan and Grace's wedding plans haven't been canceled. The venue is still arranged and the guests have been notified, right?"
Touching her belly, Kelly continued, "Since the baby is still small, I think we should go ahead with the wedding soon. Otherwise, I won't look good in a wedding dress when the baby is showing."
"A woman like you wants a wedding?" Amy was furious.
Kelly said, "If Grace can marry Ryan, why should I not be deserving of a wedding as well? I have Ryan's child. I even don't mind that it was originally for Grace. "It's already prepared, so it's no bother at all.""
"The grandeur of the wedding should be just that; I want the whole world to know that I am marrying Ryan!"
With that, Kelly laughed loudly.
"You're crazy, you mad woman!" Ryan threw a pillow at Kelly.
Kelly was hit but didn't get angry.
She was about to become the mistress of the Montgomery family; why should she be angry? She was so proud now. She wondered if her family would regret not wanting to raise her and kicking her out for her brother.
"Ryan, since you don't want to see me, I won't bother you. Rest well, and I'll come to see you tomorrow." With that, Kelly left the ward.
Her goal was achieved; she didn't care about anything else.
There was a long way to go. What she needed was the Montgomery family's money and status.
After Kelly left, Amy pointed at her back and cursed, "That shameless slut! How can there be such a brazen woman? Her fondness for men is so overwhelming, I wish I could unleash a hundred men to rape her!"
Amy's face twisted with anger. The thought of Kelly becoming Ryan's wife made her seeth with anger
However, Kelly relied on her child, and Amy couldn't do anything.
Ryan said, "Mom, I still like Grace. What should I do? I don't want to marry Kelly."
Entertaining the possibility that Grace might be the beautiful model he had always admired, Ryan became even more hesitant about marrying Kelly.
