Chapter 362 Testing Him

"You’re nuts! I never did that!" Madison felt guilty but wasn’t about to admit it.

No way she’d confess what went down with Daniel.

If people found out, they’d totally laugh at her, and Madison was way too worried about her rep.

Grace smirked, "You know the truth. You can fool others, but don’t fool yourself."

"Got any proof to back up your lies?" Madison was freaking out inside, but she’d never admit it.

Even if it happened, no one could know.

Grace sneered, "Do you really need evidence? Are you gonna ask for proof like you did when you bribed the judges in the perfume contest? Daniel must have snapped a bunch of pics of you, right? Does that count as evidence?"

Madison’s face went pale. She didn’t think Grace knew about that.

Daniel, though a total loser, was a sadist who got his kicks from tormenting her.

If Madison resisted, he’d just make it worse, getting violent. He even liked to record everything.

Afterward, Daniel would sweet-talk her, shower her with gifts, give her money, and she could have whatever she wanted.

She was addicted to that lifestyle. She hated herself for it, but she couldn’t leave Daniel.

Madison suddenly started crying, "I had no choice! It was all Zach’s fault! He pushed me into this mess!"

Madison despised Zach. Even though she’d already gotten back at him, taking everything and making his life a living hell, she still wasn’t satisfied.

Sometimes she wondered, if Zach hadn’t been so cruel to push her to Daniel, maybe her life would be different.

Grace thought she might still be happy, not as miserable as she was now. 'Daniel, that scumbag, deserves to die. So does everyone else in this world, including Zach and Grace!'

Seeing Madison’s pain, Grace felt that although Madison was pitiful, she didn’t deserve any sympathy.

Grace’s eyes were calm as she looked at Madison, thinking she was pathetic. "I tried to save you, but you chose to sink. You can’t blame anyone else."

Madison whimpered, "It’s all your fault, Grace. If you had stopped me back then, maybe things wouldn’t be like this." Madison covered her face with her hands.

She used to blame Grace for what she did, but now Madison blamed Grace for not stopping her.

Why didn’t Grace check again? If Grace had taken her to the cops, things would’ve been different.

Madison regretted it. She should’ve gone to the police back then and had them arrest both Daniel and Zach.

Then there wouldn’t have been other chances to be tormented by Daniel and Zach, and she wouldn’t have gotten worse with Daniel.

Grace wasn’t surprised by Madison’s blame. Madison was always like this, blaming everyone, hating everyone, but never thinking it was her own fault.

It was Madison’s vanity that gave others the opportunity. Everything she had now was her own doing. In other words, she deserved it!

"Being real is key. If you're strong enough, you don’t need anyone’s help. You can get what you want on your own. Only what’s truly yours can’t be taken away. But your third place and those honors aren’t yours at all." Grace could only say this much, whether Madison got it or not. She took Xavier’s hand, "Let’s bounce."

Grace and Xavier hopped back into the car. Xavier carefully placed her trophies in the back seat.

The trophies lined up neatly, a testament to achievements Madison could only dream of.

To outsiders, it might look like Grace snagged first place effortlessly every time, but besides being a genius, she also tested each perfume countless times to nail the perfect scent.

"Madison, are you just gonna let her off the hook?" Xavier asked as he drove.

If it were him, he probably wouldn’t be so forgiving.

"Of course not." Grace didn’t see herself as too soft-hearted. She remembered all the times Madison had crossed her.

Grace explained, "Madison being with Daniel shows she’s all about vanity. She knows she’s not that talented, so she tries to be everywhere, climbing up and proving herself. She runs the Lewis Group with Daniel’s help, and it’s been doing well lately. But the Lewis Group has my mom’s hard work in it. If it weren’t for my mom, the Lewis Group would’ve tanked long ago. So now, I’m taking it back."

Grace continued, "The word’s out that I’m Iris, and there’ll probably be more collaborations coming up. I’ll short the Lewis Group and then buy it at rock bottom. Losing the company and her reputation will be the ultimate blow to Madison."

As for Daniel, she was keeping tabs on him too. Madison’s ambition had grown, and she’d taken a lot from Daniel. Daniel’s wife and kids were already pretty ticked off.

Madison didn’t win the award this time, and knowing her, she’d probably blame Daniel.

Daniel always favored the obedient ones. His previous indulgence of Madison was just because she was new and exciting, but now that the novelty had worn off, he didn’t find her interesting anymore.

Grace had also heard that Daniel had recently found a new mistress. Madison would likely be ditched soon.

As long as Daniel didn’t protect Madison, she’d be toast.

But those were future issues. They’d have to wait and see.

"By the way," Grace thought of something and looked at Xavier, "My mom’s crystal should still be in The Montgomery Mansion. I want to get it back, but I don’t know where it’s hidden. Do you think Kelly has it?"

She asked tentatively. She’d wanted to ask Xavier directly about what Kelly said last time but didn’t know how to bring it up.

Now that she mentioned Evelyn, she asked in a roundabout way.

Xavier’s eyes flickered slightly, something Grace didn’t notice. "I don’t know."

"What’s so special about that crystal? Why would Patrick want it?" Grace was curious. If the crystal was really useful, wouldn’t Patrick have used it already?

Could it be that the crystal itself was valuable?

Did Patrick want to keep it as a family heirloom?

Grace murmured without any response from Xavier, who was focused on driving.

Grace saw Xavier’s reflection in the rearview mirror. Although he didn’t speak, she felt like he was hiding something.

Did Xavier know something? Otherwise, why would he want the crystal too?

Grace lowered her eyes. But if Xavier wanted it, why didn’t he just tell her?

If she got the crystal, Xavier could just take it directly.
