Chapter 65 Targeted on Opening Day
When Grace went to open the door, she discovered that the locks were all broken. It seemed like they had been pried open.
She opened the door and saw a mess inside. All the perfumes were smashed on the ground, and the display stands she had set up were all destroyed.
The strong scent of perfume filled the air, and the floor was covered in shattered bottles. These were not just perfumes but Grace's hard work.
The grand opening was about to happen, and it was the first appearance of the Iris brand.
The mall was going to open in an hour, and people would come. No one wants to encounter such a situation on the first day of business.
And now, with this situation, how could they open?
"Who could have done this!" Angela shouted angrily.
Who could be so shameless as to waste all the effort someone has put in for days?
What is wrong with this mall? Isn't it closed at night?
"Grace, what should we do now?" Angela looked at Grace with worry.
She felt extremely uncomfortable seeing all of this, let alone Grace.
She knew better than anyone else how hard Grace had worked and how much she had sacrificed during this time.
It was like nurturing a plant with care, watering it with all your heart every day. But just when it was about to bloom and bear fruit, someone came along and destroyed it.
"With such a short amount of time, even if we have spare perfume, it's too late. These display stands are destroyed. Otherwise, maybe we could find the person in charge and reschedule the opening day?" Angela suggested.
Grace took step by step as she walked in and saw the broken glass on the floor.
"Be careful, don't step on it," Angela reminded.
The calmer Grace appeared, the more worried Angela became.
"The opening day is today." Grace's voice was filled with determination and strength.
"But how can we open like this?"
"Whoever did this definitely doesn't want me to open. If we just close now, wouldn't we be playing into their hands? And who can guarantee that if we reschedule, we won't be sabotaged in other ways?" Grace said calmly. She felt just as disturbed seeing this scene.
But the incident had already happened, and being sad now wouldn't change anything.
Since there were people who didn't want her to open, she tried to show them that Grace wouldn't be knocked down so easily by any difficulties!
Angela thought for a moment and agreed with Grace's reasoning. "So what do we do now?"
"Angela, can you go check the surveillance footage for me? I want to see who did this. I'll start cleaning up here alone," Grace replied.
"Alright." Angela agreed and quickly went to find evidence for Grace.
Grace retrieved cleaning tools from the back storeroom and began to clean. At least, before the grand opening, they had to clean up here.
She first swept away the glass shards, then mopped the floor. She restored whatever items she could salvage and discarded the broken ones.
Grace had personally designed the entire layout, which was originally perfect. But seeing it like this now, Grace was truly heartbroken.
In this world, there were always people with twisted minds who couldn't stand seeing others do well.
Grace considered herself too outstanding and believed envy led to her being framed like this.
Fortunately, no one had splashed paint on the walls; otherwise, it would have been even more troublesome.
Soon, Angela returned with the surveillance video. "Grace, do you recognize anyone?"
Grace watched the video and saw three men. They entered smoothly, appearing as if they had prearranged with the mall staff.
Once inside, they forcefully broke into her store and started destroying everything.
Within minutes, the store was completely damaged. When they left, one of them made a phone call, seemingly reporting their results.
They were all wearing hats and masks, arming themselves. However, the person making the phone call thought they wouldn't be discovered and took off his mask while smoking. Grace recognized that side profile.
He had appeared with Madison twice before as one of her pursuers.
"It was Madison." Grace could be certain.
"That damn Madison!" Angela clenched her fists. If Madison were here now, she would beat her head to a pulp.
"Grace, are we just going to let this go?"
Grace's lips curled up. "Of course not."
Adults should face the consequences of their mistakes, Zach and Madison included.
"But the grand opening is about to happen. We don't have much time." It was impossible to restore everything to its original state now.
Grace furrowed her brows. "Let's get to work first."
"But Grace, we don't have enough backup perfumes. What should we do?" Angela discovered this after taking inventory.
"Let's arrange what we have, and I'll figure something out."
An hour quickly passed, and the mall opened for business.
Just as the store opened, a wave of fans eagerly rushed in.
Upon witnessing the scene, Angela turned to Grace with a curious expression and inquired, "Grace, does the spokesperson you've hired command such a large following?"
"Not many. These fans probably aren't here for us," Grace replied, observing the fans rushing in. They didn't seem to be heading towards her.
Originally, Grace had planned to host an event in the mall today and invite a spokesperson to introduce the Iris perfume brand.
After her conversation with Victor last time, she had signed a contract with a spokesperson.
Initially, Victor wanted to introduce the company's most popular celebrity to Grace as the spokesperson, and Grace had no objections to whoever she chose.
However, after giving it some thought, Grace declined.
The quality of a brand is not determined by the popularity of its spokesperson's fan base but by the reputation of its products.
Moreover, when it comes to perfume, a spokesperson isn't meant to be the most popular but the most suitable.
In the end, Grace chose Leroy Rodriguez from Victor's company, whom she deemed the most suitable person.
Victor had reminded her that Leroy had been with the company for several years without gaining much fame. If she made him the spokesperson, he wouldn't bring in any fans.
Grace didn't mind, as what captivated her was Leroy's aura and his sense of cleanliness.
Today, in addition to her, it seemed that other brand stores were also opening and hosting events. They had even set up a large stage and appeared to be inviting their respective spokespersons. The fans at the entrance had been waiting for a while and had already crowded the mall's entrance.
Not far away, Madison and Wendy watched Grace's side.
Madison smirked in satisfaction, saying, "I want to see how Grace handles today. If she had opened her store at a different time, I would have found someone to sabotage it for her."
Wendy also disliked Grace and agreed with Madison's actions, saying, "Madison, you did a great job this time."
Both of them were anticipating seeing Grace make a fool of herself, thinking that she wouldn't be able to open her store today.
Madison even considered walking over to insult Grace face-to-face.
