Chapter 027 Mr. Montgomery, He's Harassing Me
"Let me introduce myself. My name is Ryan. Have you ever heard of the Montgomery family from Skigeth? Patrick Montgomery is my father, and I'm the future heir," he declared, boastfully.
Ryan believed his status would compel any woman to take a second glance. However, Grace wasn't swayed; she only felt disgust.
"Is there any chance I might buy you a drink?" Ryan offered.
"Move!" Grace curtly replied.
But Ryan didn't budge, instead offering a confident smile. "Are you free this weekend? My family has a natural hot spring. How about we hang out?" he proposed.
"If I'm not mistaken, your date should be over there," Grace tersely responded.
‘Wasn't Ryan quite fond of Kelly? Why was he abandoning her now?’ Grace thought, puzzled.
Hearing Grace's comment only made Ryan smile broadly, saying, "How do you know my date is over there? Have you been secretly paying attention to me? Playing hard to get?" Ryan believed he could have any woman he desired, including her.
"Idiot!" Grace had no interest in conversing with Ryan.
She tried to leave, but Ryan held her back.
His grip on her wrist triggered a sense of panic within her as he felt her skin was smooth and delicate.
"Let go of me!" Grace attempted to shake off Ryan's hand, unsuccessfully.
She thought Ryan was just repulsive; she hadn't anticipated his level of depravity.
"What can you do if I don't let go?" taunted Ryan. "Shout louder, attract everyone's attention. They'll only think you're trying to seduce me," Ryan shamelessly stated.
Blaming women was a common occurrence. Grace's remarkable beauty was accentuated by her choice of a short skirt leading some to believe she sought attention.
Ryan was convinced Grace had done it on purpose. How else could she have conveniently appeared before him? "I have no ill intentions. In truth, I've seen you before. You might not believe it but I fell for you the first time I saw you," he claimed.
"Ryan, if I remember correctly, you've got a girlfriend and a fiancée, right?" Grace retorted icily.
"You mean that woman? She's truly unattractive. She doesn't hold a candle to you. The mere sight of her makes me nauseous. She's ugly and delusional. She doesn't deserve to marry me."
Talking about Grace agitated Ryan; he couldn't wait to break off his engagement and have nothing to do with her.
As Ryan continued to prattle on, Grace grew increasingly serious and, in the middle of his rant, she stepped hard on his foot with her stiletto heel. The pain almost made Ryan jump.
"You...you're truly something else. What's your name? Do I have a chance to take you out for a meal?" Ryan limped after her, trying to catch up.
But Grace couldn't shake him off. As she was growing irritated by the whole ordeal, noticed a familiar man on the phone by the road, and called out, "Xavier."
Xavier looked up and saw her.
Grace quickly positioned herself behind Xavier and pointed at Ryan, alleging, "Is that your nephew? He's harassing me!"
If there was someone who could handle the troublesome Ryan, it would be Xavier.
Ryan stopped in his tracks, a look of panic on his face as he respectfully acknowledged, "Xavier."
"What's going on?" Xavier's tone was cool and unapproachable.
"It's nothing. She's just joking. Come here. Don't bother Xavier," Ryan desperately hinted at Grace with his eyes.
If Grace ended up offending Xavier, Ryan knew he couldn't protect her. Besides, why would she think Xavier would intervene? Xavier didn't seem the type who would like to meddle.
"I don't know him. He wanted to ask me out, even suggested a spa, and claimed I dressed this way to seduce him. Ridiculous! Why doesn't he look in the mirror? Why would I need to seduce someone like him?" Grace stated, icily.
Ryan was stunned. He didn't understand what Grace meant; what was wrong with his appearance? True, he wasn't as handsome as Xavier, but he considered himself to be quite charming.
Xavier looked at Ryan indifferently, causing Ryan's heart to skip a beat and his hair to stand on end.
"Xavier, it's not like that, don't believe her. She's the one who tried to seduce me, I just didn't give her the opportunity, so now she's angry," Ryan glared at Grace standing behind Xavier.
Xavier simply stated, "Get lost."
"Xavier, I..." Ryan tried to explain, but Xavier's intimidating gaze was enough to make him retreat for now.
He thought to himself, ‘It doesn't matter. She'll be around. I can always find out her information later.’
Ryan trudged away dejectedly, and Grace finally smiled, "Thank you!"
Xavier frowned, sensing the voice sounded familiar. He suddenly remembered his first time with Grace. After he awoke, Grace shoved some money into his hand, saying, "Thank you!"
Without a word, Xavier walked away and resumed talking to Mason on the phone, instructing him on some matters.
Mason was familiar with Xavier's character; Xavier typically refrained from interfering others' affairs. In this situation, he should have simply walked away. Yet, just now, he had helped a girl again.
Upon his return to Skigeth, Xavier appeared to have undergone a transformation, displaying a newfound kindness.
Meanwhile, Grace moved to a dimly lit area, where there were few people. She looked at Xavier and felt he wasn't as cold and ruthless as the rumors suggested. On the contrary, Xavier was an upstanding guy, a good person.
After being sent away by Xavier, Ryan was upset. He looked vicious. He went around, and inquired if anyone knew of the mysterious woman’s identity. No one seemed to know who she was. Aside from the fact that she seemed to be Angela’s friend.
However, Ryan remembered Angela's best friend was Grace.
How could such a beautiful woman be connected to Grace? She looked nothing like Grace, the unattractive woman he despised.
The mere thought of Grace's face made Ryan feel like he might retch up his dinner from the previous night. However, this woman was unlike any other; just looking at her filled Ryan with lust, making him wish he could take her to bed right then and there.
Last time, he couldn't locate her despite searching all of Skigeth. Could such a thing happen again? Ryan refused to believe there was a woman out there he couldn't have. Furthermore, he noticed that the woman kept looking at Xavier, leading him to suspect she might be trying to seduce him. ‘Dream on!’ he thought.
"Ryan, where did you go?" Kelly returned to his side, her voice breaking through his reverie.
Kelly prattled on, realizing Ryan wasn't listening.
Tracking his line of sight, Kelly caught him observing a woman, a sense of unease creeping over her. Having overheard Ryan inquiring about the whereabouts of a woman, and she was determined not to let him be whisked away
