Chapter 344 This Is the Last Time

Xavier picked up his phone and dialed a number. "Take this man away. Make sure he never surfaces again."

The man panicked completely upon hearing this,  with his face turning pale.

He had been lying on the ground but now struggled to turn over and kneel.

The tape over his mouth was still there, so he couldn't say anything as tears welled up in his eyes.

He had been emboldened by Stephanie's influence and had forgotten what kind of person Xavier was.

Xavier's reputation was notorious for being ruthless and merciless.

However, Xavier coldly ignored him and looked at Grace, as if pleading with her.

Grace then came over and tore the tape off the man's mouth: "Go ahead, who has sent you to follow me and try to harm me?"

"No one, I didn't plan to do anything to you. I was just coming to the restroom, and you tied me up like this," the man still didn't point at Stephanie.

Grace nodded, "I see, then disappearing will be your choice."

Soon, two burly bodyguards arrived, ready to take him away. The man realized Xavier was serious; he didn't want to die, especially since he hadn't succeeded.

He looked at Stephanie, "Save me!"

Stephanie was eager to clear her name. "What are you talking about? I don't even know you."

Seeing that Stephanie had no intention of aiding him, and remembering that he had never betrayed her before, the man felt profoundly betrayed.

He couldn't hold back any longer and said, "It was Stephanie. She orchestrated this whole thing. She wanted us to corner Grace when she was alone, take compromising photos, and ruin her reputation."

Everyone was shocked. Stephanie had overdone it tonight.

It was one thing for Stephanie to target Grace through Amara, but orchestrating a physical attack was a whole other level of malice.

"I'm not lying," the man insisted, his voice desperate. "She planned to have several of us, but I overestimated myself and thought I could handle it alone."

"You're lying!" Stephanie kicked him. "He has done this on his own. I have no idea. Now that he's been caught, he's trying to frame me. Xavier, you have to believe me, it isn't me."

Xavier looked at her coldly. "Stephanie, what have you said before? Doesn't this contradict what you're saying now?"

Stephanie was momentarily stunned. She had indeed hinted at something happening to Grace, thinking her plan was foolproof. She hadn't anticipated Grace escaping unscathed, inadvertently revealing her own involvement.

So she had already exposed herself, and now nothing she said would help.

"Stephanie, for the sake of your grandfather, this is the last time."

After warning her, Xavier took Grace's hand and left.

Stephanie almost stumbled and fell. Was it God being unfair to her, or was Grace just skilled?

She had used so many tricks tonight, but Grace had dodged them all. Why did God stand Grace's side?

Now, in front of Xavier, she had completely disgusted him.

Stephanie had done all this because she liked him. If she couldn't have him, she wouldn't rest in peace even in death.

Seeing others pointing and whispering about her, Stephanie felt utterly humiliated. She had never been so embarrassed before.

Stephanie left almost in tears and went straight to the hospital, crying in front of Joseph's room.

Joseph had been resting but sat up quickly when he heard the noise, ignoring his own condition.

He patted Stephanie's back, his face full of pain and pity: "Stephanie, what happened? Why are you crying like this? Let me see."

"Grandpa!" Stephanie hugged Joseph tightly: "Why doesn't he like me? He has humiliated me for that woman Grace. She attacked me, and he defended her, making me feel so alone. Grandpa, if my parents were still alive, would this still be happening?"

Stephanie's words struck a nerve with Joseph. Stephanie's parents were also his sorrow. If he didn't take good care of Stephanie, he would be letting them down.

Joseph loved Stephanie the most and couldn't bear to see her suffer. How could he let her be wronged now?

"Grandpa, you know I've liked him for so many years."

Joseph patted Stephanie's back, sighing deeply.

Feelings could not be compelled, but Stephanie was his only granddaughter. Naturally, he desired her happiness above all else."Stephanie, do you just want to be with him, or...?" Joseph asked.

Stephanie said, "I want to marry him, Grandpa. I want to be Xavier's wife! Grandpa, can you make Xavier marry me?"

This was indeed difficult. Although he had helped Xavier before, using that to make Xavier marry Stephanie was impossible.

Joseph said, "Let me think about it."

Stephanie soon cried herself out, her eyes swollen. "Grandpa, if you leave one day, the other shareholders will definitely bully me. Only Xavier can protect me."

"Otherwise, who knows what will happen to me in the future. If I don't have Xavier, I'd rather leave this world with you. If you leave one day, I'll go with you!" Stephanie added.

Stephanie was determined to exert double the pressure on Joseph, ensuring he comprehended that she was compelled to marry Xavier.

"Stephanie, stop it." Joseph scolded, as heartbroken as he was. "My health is failing, and I am uncertain of how much time remains for me. Even when I am no longer here, you must live well."

"Grandpa, life is unbearable even with you here. Without you, and without Xavier to protect me, I'd rather not live at all," Stephanie declared, her voice laced with desperation.

But Joseph's words made Stephanie think of something.

Joseph's health was already poor; he might not live much longer. If it was only a year or two, what was the point of living?

Joseph's words lingered in Stephanie's mind, sparking a dark thought. If his passing could somehow lead to her marrying Xavier...

But Joseph would leave her one day, and only Xavier could be with her for a lifetime.

If Joseph left one day and she still didn't have Xavier, wouldn't that be even worse?
