Chapter 497 Using Shares to Exchange for Grace
Although Chase said he didn't like Xavier, he didn't stop Grace from interacting with Xavier.
He was Grace's family, and he should unconditionally stand by Grace's side. He should protect Grace, not stop her from doing this or that.
He was just worried that Grace would be deceived by Xavier again.
So Chase directly called Xavier out. Xavier was a bit flattered to be invited by Chase alone.
When Chase invited Xavier, he didn't tell Xavier not to inform Grace, as he wanted to test Xavier.
Only Xavier came to the appointment.
Chase looked at him, "You didn't bring Grace with you?"
Xavier said, "Mr. Coleman, didn't you only invite me? I didn't tell Grace about this."
Chase nodded, still expressionless and displeased.
"Tell me, what conditions will make you leave Grace?"
Xavier said sincerely, "Mr. Coleman, I won't leave Grace."
"Don't think I don't know what you're up to. You didn't want Grace before, but when Grace reunited with us, you deliberately came over pretending to be affectionate. Grace is very naive, but I have more experience than you. I can see through your intentions, if you don't mind. I don't know if you want something from Grace or the Montgomery family, but as long as you leave Grace, I can give you whatever you want."
Chase said this deliberately to test Xavier and to see if Xavier was with Grace for other reasons.
After all, the timing was too coincidental, and he didn't believe in coincidences.
Most coincidences are premeditated.
Especially Xavier, who seemed cunning and definitely not a simple person.
Xavier said, "Mr. Coleman, you're overthinking. I'm with Grace simply because she's the one I like. It has nothing to do with her identity or family background."
"Then what do you like about her?" Chase asked directly.
"Reasons for liking someone are complex. It's the shining points you discover over time. She has many unique qualities. She's resilient and stubborn, never gives up, and never troubles others with things she can do herself. She's like a plant struggling to survive in a crevice, thought to be a weed but blooming the most beautiful flowers."
"To me, she's unique and incomparable. Mr. Coleman, I know you might think these are just sweet words with no persuasive power, but I swear, everything I said today is from my heart. I like her, that's why I'm with her."
He never thought he would be so attached to someone. Without Grace, he felt like he couldn't breathe.
Every day with her seemed especially meaningful, and he wanted to be with her for a lifetime.
Meeting someone like her wasn't easy, so he wanted to love her well.
Chase looked at Xavier, his heart slightly moved.
Liking someone can't be hidden. It shows in the eyes, expressions, and tone.
If Xavier was pretending, his acting was too good, even fooling Chase.
When talking about Grace, Xavier's eyes lit up, and he couldn't help but smile, and he looked happy. That feeling couldn't be hidden.
When he met Grace's grandmother, it was the same. They loved each other for most of their lives, but unfortunately, she left earlier than him.
"Can you guarantee everything you said is true?" Chase asked.
"I can guarantee it. I only want Grace. If Mr. Coleman doesn't believe me, I can transfer everything I have to Grace, including all the shares of the DG Group and all my assets. If I ever wrong Grace, I'll be left with nothing."
"All the shares of the DG Group, are you serious?" Chase didn't expect Xavier to be willing to give up so much money.
The DG Group is now a top company domestically and internationally, with substantial daily net income.
If he really gave it away, Xavier would be left with nothing. Was he really willing?
This was a business empire he built himself. Anyone else would probably be unwilling.
"To me, Grace is priceless. These are far from enough."
Xavier always viewed money lightly.
"Alright, if you bring the transfer agreement, I'll agree to you being with Grace." Chase wasn't sure if Xavier was serious. Anyone could say such things, but doing them was another matter.
Chase wasn't easily deceived. If Xavier had dared bring it and let Grace sign, he would have agreed.
Chase wouldn't take Xavier's money. The Coleman family didn't lack these things.
"I'll have someone prepare it now."
Xavier immediately called Mason to prepare the share transfer agreement and have it delivered as soon as possible.
Mason was surprised, "Mr. Montgomery, you want to transfer all the DG Group shares to Ms. Lewis?"
"Do as I say!"
"Yes."
Mason was very efficient, and soon a share transfer agreement was placed in front of them.
Xavier quickly signed his name without hesitation. It would take effect as long as Chase or Grace signed.
The ownership of the DG Group shares was now in Chase's hands.
Chase held the pen. "I'll ask you one last time: Are you sure? I'm really going to sign this."
Xavier said, "The official seal is already stamped, and my signature is there. As long as you sign, it will take effect. But please, Mr. Coleman, don't tell Grace about this. Grace is very independent. If she knew, she definitely wouldn't accept it."
Xavier wanted to give his things to Grace, but when it came to money, Grace was very serious. She wouldn't take what wasn't hers, not even Xavier's.
When he got shares from Ryan, he had a hard time convincing Grace to accept them.
When Grace was financially struggling, she never asked Xavier for help.
So if Grace knew about this, she would definitely be angry.
But for Xavier, it would be worth it if he could use this money to get Chase's approval to be with Grace.
Chase held the pen, ready to sign the paper.
The pen touched the white paper, leaving black ink marks, already forming a name.
He looked up at Xavier, who still showed no hesitation, as if the money had nothing to do with him.
All he wanted was Grace.
Chase's pen stopped, and he quickly crossed out the name he had just written.
Xavier was surprised, "Mr. Coleman, what do you mean by this?"
Could it be that Chase was backing out?
