Chapter 573 Do You Know Elizabeth
Grace explained the situation to Xavier and told him which hospital they were at. Xavier rushed over immediately, and when he arrived outside the emergency room, Grace was still anxiously waiting.
"Grace!" Xavier hurried over and hugged her tightly.
Xavier was terrified, especially when he received Grace's call saying they were going to the hospital. He initially thought something had happened to Grace.
"Xavier." Grace finally breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Xavier.
If something happened to Dorian, she might not be able to clear her name. No matter what she said, people wouldn't believe her. Dorian was the king, and if it was suggested that she had assassinated the king, what would she do?
"Don't worry, I'll have someone check the surveillance footage," Xavier said, wanting to know what had happened.
"Actually, this has happened before. When I was out shopping with my future sister-in-law, Bella, we saw His Majesty Dorian Astor, and he fainted just like this. Could he be sick?" Grace said.
Xavier led Grace to sit down, patting her shoulder and looking ahead. He thought Dorian might not be sick; perhaps it had something to do with Grace's face. It seemed Elizabeth's secret might be more complex, and everyone might be hiding something.
"Don't worry, let's wait for the doctor's examination."
"Should we inform Robert?" Grace asked. After all, Dorian was Robert's brother-in-law, and Robert and Jane were family.
"Not yet," Xavier replied, wanting to investigate further. Maybe they would learn more when Dorian woke up.
"But Robert will find out sooner or later," Grace said. Dorian's visit to Oakworth was significant, and if there was no contact, people would start investigating. Dorian would likely call Robert once he woke up.
"Right, let's not rush," Xavier said, having his plans and deciding to keep the news under wraps for now.
The airport surveillance footage was quickly retrieved. Since it was near the restroom, the footage wasn't very clear due to privacy concerns, but adjacent cameras captured some angles. The footage showed Dorian stopping when he saw Grace, then fainting shortly after, which had scared Grace.
Xavier watched the footage repeatedly, trying to discern something. Considering Grace's account of the previous incident, it was indeed strange.
Xavier asked Grace, "This isn't the second time you've seen Dorian, right?"
"I've seen him at Robert's house before. He came to pick up Her Royal Highness Jane York."
"Did he react then?"
Grace shook her head. "No reaction at all."
Xavier frowned. That was odd.
"But the first time I saw him, I was wearing makeup. Are you saying he fainted because he saw my face?" Grace wondered if Elizabeth knew Dorian, but it seemed unlikely. How could Elizabeth know the king?
"We don't know yet. Let's see what the doctor says."
The doctor conducted a full examination of Dorian. The results showed that Dorian's body was fine, except for recent overexertion and significant heart rate fluctuations. Other than that, there were no issues.
Dorian's body was fine, so the reason might only be known to Dorian himself.
Dorian woke up an hour later. Xavier asked Grace to stay outside while he went in.
"Your Majesty Dorian Astor," Xavier said, walking in briskly. Dorian saw Xavier and said, "You are..."
He spoke in Vesperian, and surprisingly well.
"My name is Xavier."
"Xavier? I know you. You're a prominent entrepreneur in Vesperia."
DG Group's enterprises were now global, and Xavier's name was widely known. Even Dorian had heard of him.
"You fainted at the airport. My wife brought you to the hospital."
Dorian held his head, feeling a sharp pain in his temples, like needles stirring inside. He didn't know why this was happening; he didn't have a history of headaches.
"Thank you."
"Your Majesty Dorian Astor, your Vesperian is quite good. When did you learn it?" Xavier asked casually, sitting down and speaking to Dorian without fear. Despite being in the presence of a foreign monarch, Xavier showed no intimidation, maintaining eye contact with Dorian.
Dorian thought seriously about the question, but found a blank spot in his memory. He couldn't recall.
"My grandmother was Vesperian," Dorian said. He was a quarter Vesperian and had learned the language.
Xavier nodded. That made sense.
Xavier didn't know the reason, but Dorian felt an emptiness in his mind, a void in his heart.
"The doctor has examined you. Your body is fine, but I have a question for you."
Xavier had only exchanged a few words with Dorian but found him approachable, not overly authoritative despite his position.
"Go ahead."
"Do you know Elizabeth?" Xavier asked directly, watching Dorian's reaction.
"Elizabeth?" The name felt unfamiliar, yet strangely familiar. Dorian had no memory of it, but his heart felt uneasy, as if his body had a built-in response, causing discomfort and pain.
Dorian shook his head. "I don't know her, and I don't recall hearing the name."
Xavier could tell Dorian wasn't lying.
"Have you seen this face?" Xavier showed Dorian a photo of Grace on his phone. This was a rare opportunity to speak directly with Dorian, and Xavier wanted to ask as much as possible before others arrived.
In the photo, Grace's face radiated happiness, but Dorian felt a sharp pain in his eyes.
