Chapter 152 Be As Mrs. Montgomery

Grace thought of Madison's words, claiming that Zach and the Montgomery family had already discussed their wedding date. She turned the steering wheel and headed in a different direction.

The car soon stopped at the Lewis family. The servant who opened the door saw Grace and was momentarily unsure whether to let her in. Until Zach's voice came from inside. "Let her in."

This was the first time Grace had returned to the Lewis family since the incident with Madison.

During this time, Zach had become quite haggard. He no longer looked as domineering as before.

"Have a seat." Zach pointed to the sofa in front of him.

"No, I came here with something to say. I'll leave once I'm done," Grace responded.

Zach looked at Grace standing in front of him. Her temperament was really very much like Evelyn's.

Before Grace could speak, Zach said first, "I've been dreaming lately, always dreaming of Evelyn. She says I haven't taken good care of you."

Zach's gaze towards Grace also softened, as if he wanted to see Evelyn through Grace.

Grace sneered, "Who do you think you are even to dare to dream about her?"

She didn't even think Zach was qualified to mention Evelyn. After all, it was Zach who betrayed her.

"I know you think I wronged your mother, but things are not what you think. Between your mother and me, it was never..." Zach seemed to want to say something but swallowed it back.

There were too many things between him and Evelyn, not something that could be explained in a few words.

Moreover, he and Evelyn had a pact. There were certain things that, even if he took them to the grave, could never be revealed.

Zach held back and said, "Your marriage with Ryan was arranged by Evelyn. If you don't agree to this marriage, why don't you ask Evelyn if she would agree?"

"Stop using my mother as an excuse. If my mom were still here, she would definitely respect my wishes. All she ever wanted was for me to find happiness!"Grace countered.

Although Grace didn't have many memories of Evelyn, she recalled a moment from her childhood when Evelyn held her close and expressed a heartfelt wish for her to lead a life of her choosing.

But Grace couldn't understand why Evelyn would arrange this marriage for her.

"Zach, I won't attend the wedding dress fitting or even the wedding," Grace calmed down, claiming, "Why don't we make a deal?"

"The Lewis Group is now in Madison's hands. You must have been sidelined by her. Even if there's still Brittany, do you think when she returns, she will help you or Taylor? As long as you help me cancel the marriage with the Montgomery family, I'll help you take back the Lewis Group. How about that?"

Zach looked at her. "What nonsense are you talking about, taking back the Lewis Group, just you?"

He couldn't even take it back now, let alone Grace.

"It won't be a loss for you. Otherwise, you'll just watch as your life's work is destroyed by Madison, "Grace continued.

Zach certainly wouldn't let Madison mess around, so he needed the Montgomery family's help.

He said coldly, "The end of next month, the date is already set. You must marry! And whether you go to the wedding dress fitting tomorrow or not is inconsequential. This marriage is set in stone and cannot be altered."

The deal failed, and Grace left the Lewis family.

She did not believe she could fight against fate; she refused to believe this marriage couldn't be called off!

This was the new century; could they still knock her out and force her to marry?

Ryan had spent several days at Kelly's place again, being pampered by her, and he felt very comfortable. In front of Kelly, he also found his manly dignity.

Early the next morning, Ryan got up from bed. Kelly, clinging to his waist, pleaded, "Ryan, why are you up so early? Stay with me a little longer."

"I have something to do today. Dad insists I must go," Ryan replied.

Kelly knew that Ryan was going to try on wedding dresses with Grace today.

'That Grace, why does she have such good fortune!' Kelly pondered.

Kelly wanted to cling to Ryan and keep him from going, but for some reason, Ryan insisted on going.

"The one I love is you. What does it matter if I try on wedding dresses with Grace? You're sensible. I don't want to marry Grace either; this whole thing annoys me. But what can I do? It's my dad's arrangement!" Ryan shouted.

Kelly didn't expect Ryan to be so agitated, and it was the first time he had spoken to her so loudly.

Her eyes instantly reddened. She lowered her head and said pitifully, "I understand. I won't cause you any trouble."

Seeing Kelly like this, Ryan's heart softened. He embraced Kelly and said, "That's not what I meant. I'm just a bit annoyed. You're the one who understands me the best and knows my love for you. Please, let's not be unreasonable, okay?"

Ryan was indeed troubled, but not because of Kelly, but because of Grace.

In fact, Ryan could have chosen not to go, but for some reason, he just wanted to go, to see Grace.

He was really going crazy. Lately, he kept thinking about her. Even when he was intimate with Kelly, her image would pop into his mind. Then Ryan would get angry and take it out on Kelly, venting his frustration on her more forcefully.

As Ryan thought about seeing Grace later that day, he found himself feeling a hint of happiness. So he got up early, prepared to dress well, and determined to make Grace unable to take her eyes off him.

"I know, it's my fault. I was being unreasonable," Kelly said, curling up in Ryan's arms, her face hidden from him.

Kelly sneered inwardly. She didn't see herself as unreasonable; Ryan's comments were truly distasteful. This wasn't the Ryan she knew. A sense of urgency and concern washed over her.

But now, she dared not say anything, only looking up pitifully, her eyes red. "Ryan, can I go with you? Don't worry. I won't bother you to try on wedding dresses, and I'll just watch from the side. I just want to see you in a suit. I don't want to miss any moment of you. Ryan. I really like you. Even though I know you're getting married and we shouldn't keep this relationship, I can't help but secretly like you."

Ryan wiped her tears. "What nonsense are you talking about? Even if I get married, I'll still be with you. My girl, you mustn't cry."

Kelly said, "But I don't want you to get married. You said you would marry me."

Ryan paused, "You know, marrying Grace is my dad's decision. I can't do anything about it."

Kelly's eyes flickered. If it were before, Ryan would have said he would never marry Grace and insisted on marrying her!

She had only been locked up for a month. How had Ryan changed?

Kelly knew she couldn't rush things; otherwise, Ryan would hate her. She didn't want to be a mistress for life. She wanted to sit in Mrs. Montgomery's place!
