Chapter 294 Grace's Secret
Xavier's words didn't just catch Ryan off guard; they totally floored Grace too.
Grace thought, 'Aunt? Seriously? That's kinda weird, right?'
Out of nowhere, she felt like she'd jumped up a whole generation. She used to be Xavier's nephew's wife, but now she was kinda digging this new title!
"You... you..." Ryan was so mad he could barely get the words out.
Grace shot him a smile that made her look even more stunning. "Ryan, where are your manners? I'm your uncle's girlfriend now."
Ryan was losing it. His fiancée just turned into his aunt, and he couldn't handle it.
Ryan snapped, "You must be out of your mind, Grace. Xavier, this isn't over!"
He was in total denial, like his world just got flipped upside down.
He started acting like a lunatic, muttering curses under his breath, his eyes full of rage and hate.
Soon enough, the estate's security showed up and dragged Ryan away.
"Who called security?" Grace was still scratching her head after Ryan got hauled off.
She thought, 'Did Victor call them after he left?'
Xavier chimed in, "I did."
"When did you do that?" Grace hadn't seen Xavier make a move.
Xavier said, "When Ryan first showed up at the estate."
Grace looked at him, totally surprised. "So you knew Ryan was coming!"
Xavier nodded, "Yeah, I let him in."
Without Xavier's say-so, Ryan wouldn't have gotten in.
Grace asked, "So you did it on purpose!"
Xavier nodded again.
"Why?" Grace was baffled.
She thought, 'Did he let Ryan in just to stir up trouble?'
Grace didn't mind Ryan finding out her secret; she wasn't planning to hide it anyway, but it was all so sudden.
Xavier said, "I don't want to hide."
Xavier was always upfront about stuff, so he didn't plan on keeping this from the Montgomery family either. This way, Ryan would stop obsessing over Grace.
Grace met his eyes and suddenly smiled.
Even though she knew their future would be full of challenges, she was ready to face them with Xavier now!
Ryan got kicked out, looking totally lost and broken.
He still couldn't wrap his head around being played, or that the woman he'd chased for so long was actually Grace.
Ryan couldn't reconcile the two faces—one so plain and the other so gorgeous. How could they be the same person?
He thought, 'Grace hid it well, fooling everyone!'
Ryan used to think Grace was just playing hard to get, pretending not to like him to catch his attention.
Now it seemed Grace never planned to marry him from the start. Otherwise, with her looks, he would've agreed to marry her ages ago.
Ryan couldn't accept it; he was so awesome. Why wouldn't Grace like him?
He had to get stronger, make Grace regret it, and humiliate both Grace and Xavier. He also needed to get his shares back!
After leaving the estate, Ryan hit up a bar, got wasted, and stumbled back home. In the past, when he got drunk, Kelly would take care of him, but now she ignored him.
Instead, Patrick saw him in that state and gave him an earful.
Watching Patrick head upstairs, Ryan staggered after him.
Kelly quietly followed, and after seeing Ryan enter the study and close the door, she pressed her ear to the door, trying to catch what was being said inside.
"Why the hell are you following me?" Patrick was fed up with Ryan, especially now that he was plastered.
Ryan, tears streaming down his face, blurted out, "Dad, I know I messed up. From now on, I'll work hard and do whatever you say."
Ryan thought, 'I should've listened to Patrick and married Grace. If it weren't for Kelly's drama during the engagement, I might've already married Grace, and we could even have a kid by now.'
Seeing Ryan like this, Patrick didn't know what had gotten into him, but if it meant Ryan would finally grow up, it was a good thing. Otherwise, he wouldn't feel right handing the company over to him.
Patrick said, "Forget about the company for now. Your wedding with Kelly is coming up; focus on that first."
Ryan snapped, "Dad, I don't wanna get married. I don't wanna marry Kelly. I'll kill that bitch one day!"
Ryan's voice was loud, and even though the door was pretty soundproof, Kelly, who was eavesdropping outside, could still catch some of it.
Kelly thought, 'Ryan's getting cocky, even talking about killing me.'
Kelly knew the baby she was carrying wasn't Ryan's. She could hide it from the Montgomery family for now, but if they found out later, she'd be screwed. This plan wasn't foolproof, so she needed a backup.
Kelly actually had another plan, now targeting Patrick, who still called the shots in the Montgomery family.
If she could seduce Patrick, she'd secure her spot and have nothing to fear in the Montgomery family.
But right now, the Montgomery family hated her guts, and Patrick especially couldn't stand her. She needed another angle.
Patrick said, "It's too late; this is your mess."
Ryan pleaded, "Dad, you gotta have a way. Grace has been playing me all along. The one I love is Grace. Dad, don't you have her mom's ashes? You can use them to threaten her, and Grace also has shares in the Montgomery Group. We gotta get them back, right?"
Patrick said, "I have other plans for those ashes. You just focus on getting married."
"Dad, where do you keep those ashes?" Ryan asked.
Patrick eyed him suspiciously. "Why do you wanna know?"
Ryan thought that if he could get the ashes, he could threaten Grace. Then she'd have to listen to him, so he wanted to get his hands on them.
Ryan said, "I just wanna know. Dad, can you give me the ashes? Don't worry. I'll take good care of them and make sure Grace doesn't get them."
Hearing this crucial part, Kelly pressed her ear closer, trying to catch more.
"Ms. Simmons, you..." A servant came upstairs and saw Kelly at the study door.
Kelly quickly straightened up. "Ryan just got back. I wanted to check if he's hungry."
"Then why don't you go in?" The servant found it odd.
Kelly said, "Since he's talking to Dad, I'll come back later."
Kelly had to head downstairs first.
She thought, 'Damn, I missed the most important part! But if Ryan wants Grace's mom's ashes, why not push him to go after them?'
Ryan said, "Dad, I went to the resort today, and Xavier made me call Grace 'Aunt.' I can't take this! Dad, you know Grace has another face. She's actually a rare beauty. Her other face is completely different from her usual look. They totally played me."
Patrick was stunned. "What did you just say?"
