Chapter 457 You Young People Really Know How to Have Fun

Grace shook her head, "Are you really not hurt?"

Xavier chuckled, "And you said you weren't worried about me."

"How can you still joke at a time like this!"

"I'm just really happy, Grace; seeing you makes me happy."

Xavier didn't tell Grace how he got through the days without her; it was like living in a fog, each day dragging on endlessly.

But now, it felt like the sun had returned to his world.

"Are you still going to the airport? Won't you miss your flight?" Grace checked the time.

Xavier said, "It's okay if I miss it. I'll have Mason arrange a private jet; I can leave whenever."

"But right now, I don't want to leave."

Isn't being with Grace more important than work? He just wanted to stay by her side, nowhere else.

Xavier followed Grace back to her place, and she told him to go clean up.

Xavier took a shower and emerged from the bathroom wrapped in a towel, showing off his toned upper body.

Grace threw some clothes at him, "Put these on! Don't forget you're still on probation. Acting like a rogue will cost you points!"

Xavier put on the clothes and then asked Grace if she was hungry.

Grace had eaten pasta and wasn't hungry, but Xavier said he was and asked if she could go with him to the grocery store downstairs.

Grace and Xavier went downstairs, chatting along the way, "So the driver really died on the spot?"

"Yeah, he was speeding to catch a flight, and with a big truck changing lanes ahead, he crashed right into it."

"From now on, you can't drive too fast or speed. If you haven't rested well the night before or feel tired, you must let a driver take over. I don't want our baby to be born without a dad."

Grace's last words were almost a whisper.

Xavier held her hand tightly, "I'll take good care of myself. I need to stay alive to marry you."

"I haven't agreed to marry you yet!"

"But you will, sooner or later."

"Where do you get that confidence?"

Xavier said, "I've always been this confident."

Xavier didn't take Grace far; there was an old lady selling vegetables not far from her building.

Grace had bought vegetables from her before when she brought Xavier home.

Seeing Grace, the old lady greeted her, "Miss, what do you want to buy?"

"It's Grace."

"Grace? How did you get so pretty?"

Grace didn't know how to explain, so she just said, "I had plastic surgery."

"Well, it turned out great. No wonder you haven't been here for a while. What are you eating today?"

Grace said, "I haven't decided yet, just looking around."

"Okay, I think I've seen this handsome guy before. Isn't he your uncle? The one who got divorced and has two kids?"

Grace was silent.

Xavier was silent.

This was what Grace had said last time, and the old lady had a good memory.

"Is your uncle married now? I have a relative who's also divorced. Should I introduce them?" The old lady looked at Xavier, thinking such a handsome man was a catch.

Xavier whispered in Grace's ear, "This is the trouble you got me into."

Grace chuckled, "Did you hear that? She wants to set you up. You should be happy!"

Xavier looked down at Grace and then pulled her into his arms, "You misunderstood. I'm not her uncle; I'm her husband. I've never been divorced and don't have two kids. Thanks for the offer, but we're already married."

"You two..." The old lady's eyes widened. Young people these days!

"Don't listen to him. He's not my husband; we're not married yet."

Xavier said, "We'll be married soon, and we'll invite you to the wedding."

Xavier quickly picked out some vegetables and left with Grace.

Grace said, "You know there's no privacy around here. These words will spread quickly, and soon, everyone will think I married my uncle!"

"Who told you to say I was your uncle?" Xavier's voice was indulgent.

Grace was silent.

Fine, it was her fault.

"Do you want some strawberry candy?" Xavier saw some fresh strawberries.

"You know how to make strawberry candy?"

"No, but I can learn. If I make it well, can I get a reward?"

"I'll be nice if I don't deduct points. No reward!"

But as soon as Grace finished speaking, Xavier stole a kiss, "Since Ms. Lewis won't give a reward, I'll just take one myself."

After buying the groceries, they went home, and Xavier made a simple dinner.

Grace wasn't hungry initially, but the smell made her feel a bit hungry.

She joined Xavier for dinner and tried the strawberry candy he made. It was pretty good and very sweet.

The day passed quickly, and night fell.

Xavier didn't return to Oakworth, but he still had work to handle. After a call with Mason, he said he'd go back in a couple of days.

He had finally made progress with Grace and didn't want to leave now.

Mason mentioned on the phone that when the accident happened, Grace couldn't reach Xavier and had called Mason.

Hearing that Grace was worried, Xavier's heart softened.

He knew how Grace felt, just like when Daniel drugged her, and he wanted to turn the world upside down to find her.

"Mr. Montgomery, Ms. Lewis, she..."

Before Mason could finish, Xavier had already hung up.

He rushed to the bedroom and looked at Grace on the bed.

"You..."

Xavier almost pounced, pulling Grace into his arms.

"What's wrong? Weren't you on the phone with Mason outside?" Grace was a bit confused by the sudden hug.

"I missed you." Xavier held her tightly.

"Not believable at all." They had seen each other just five minutes ago. How could Xavier miss her already?

It didn't matter if Grace believed it or not; Xavier really did miss her. Even though they were just a door apart, he couldn't wait to come in and hold her.

Xavier didn't know when he had become so anxious and insecure.

He had always believed that whatever he set his mind to, he could get. There was nothing in this world that Xavier couldn't obtain.

But that didn't work with Grace.

He didn't want to force her or make her stay against her will. He just wanted her to be happy every day, by his side.
