Chapter 621 The Cruise Ship Exploded

"Alright," Mason finally agreed. "Mr. Montgomery, be careful."

"I know."

He would be extremely careful. After all, there were still people in this world he cared about.

Tomorrow was the day he and Grace were going to finalize their marriage paperwork. It was a very important day in his life.

There were many more important moments ahead in his life.

He still had to hold a wedding, go on a honeymoon with Grace, and watch their children be born.

There were so many important things, and they were all about to happen. Just thinking about them made him feel wonderful.

So he wouldn't let anything happen to himself. He couldn't let Grace lose him right after losing her grandfather.

The rain seemed to have stopped for now, and Xavier had arranged for a dozen yachts.

Half an hour was enough time to cover the distance.

He needed to sneak over carefully. Whether he could take Jared down might depend on this moment.

Xavier's submarine was in the lead, ready to approach quietly and find an opportunity to sneak aboard.

Jared was also calculating how to leave this place.

Chase's quick death had thrown Jared's plans off and delayed his goals. He hadn't gotten what he wanted, and it would be even harder to get Grace to hand it over in the future.

He thought Grace must have hidden it and wouldn't give it up.

If he could find a way to capture Xavier, he might still be able to use him to threaten Grace.

With Xavier as leverage, Grace wouldn't be able to keep hiding it.

As Jared was thinking about this, a subordinate on the yacht reported, "Mr. Peterson, several yachts are approaching us."

Jared looked over. "So many yachts? How many people are on them?"

"Not sure."

"Is Xavier there?"

"Can't tell yet, but coming here now would be suicide. Given Xavier's current situation, he wouldn't come, right?" the subordinate speculated.

Jared nodded. Yes, Xavier had too many concerns to take such a risk.

Never mind Xavier. Jared needed to leave now.

Jared got up and headed to the rooftop to board the helicopter.

As long as he saved himself first, there would always be opportunities. Jared only cared about his own life; he could disregard everyone else's.

There were still many people on the yacht, including the captured police officers and many of his men.

Jared held a small red remote in his hand.

Once he left, he planned to...

Xavier carefully snuck onto the yacht, avoiding Jared's men.

Xavier and Mason were still in communication, even with video.

"Have your people move in slowly," Xavier instructed.

With coordinated efforts, Mason's side began to act. The police were now fully following orders.

More and more people surrounded the yacht. Jared's subordinate reported to him, "Mr. Peterson, Xavier's people have surrounded us."

"What?" Jared exclaimed. "Just a few boats, how did they get here so fast?"

"They used submarines. The yachts above were just a distraction, making us think there weren't many people."

In reality, most of them had come underwater in submarines, unnoticed.

"Damn it!" Jared cursed. "How many of them are there?"

"A lot, Mr. Peterson. What do we do now?"

"Get lost!" Jared kicked him aside and boarded the helicopter, ready to leave.

By the time Xavier reached the rooftop, Jared's helicopter was already in the air.

"Xavier! Haha! You're dead today!" Jared taunted, sticking his head out to mock Xavier.

Once his helicopter was at a safe distance, he would press the button in his hand.

The yacht was rigged with explosives. One press of the button, and the yacht would blow up.

Everyone around would become sea ghosts.

Xavier had come just in time, practically walking into a death trap.

But Jared couldn't press the button yet; his helicopter wasn't out of the danger zone.

In the next second, Xavier raised his hand and fired a shot into the sky.

Jared felt a sharp pain as blood flowed from his shoulder. He looked down in disbelief at Xavier, who had managed to hit him with a single shot.

Jared quickly pulled himself back into the helicopter, trying to fly away.

Xavier fired a few more shots, hitting the helicopter's rotor.

The helicopter lost balance and tilted to one side.

Jared struggled to stabilize it, but Xavier kept shooting.

Through the ongoing video call, Mason saw the helicopter's trouble and a hint of joy appeared on his face.

Jared's helicopter wobbled and fell from the sky.

No one knew Jared still had a red button in his hand.

"Mr. Montgomery, Jared can't escape now..."

Before Mason could finish, a loud explosion lit up the sky, turning night into day, even brighter than daylight.

Mason couldn't believe his eyes. The massive yacht had exploded.

But Xavier was still on board!

The video feed went black and showed nothing.

Mason, still some distance from the sea, saw the raging fire and heard the explosion's roar.

Thick smoke billowed, obscuring the sea ahead.

"Mr. Montgomery! Mr. Montgomery!" Mason shouted, but there was no response.

...

Grace felt like she had heard something; she maybe it was her imagination.

At the same time, her heart clenched painfully, her nerves felt paralyzed, and she momentarily lost her vision, collapsing forward.

"Grace!" Angela, quick to react, caught her.

But Grace's knee hit the ground, scraping her skin.

"Grace, are you okay?" How did she collapse like that?

"Grace?" Others rushed over upon hearing the commotion.

Grace clutched her heart, breathing heavily. She felt terrible.

A suffocating pain she had never felt before, pulling at her blood, seeping into her bones, connecting to her heart, and overwhelming her brain.

"Grace, Grace!" Everyone was in a panic.

"I..." Grace gasped, looking ahead in confusion, her body trembling.

She didn't know what was happening, but she felt a weakness spreading through her entire body.

She couldn't describe the feeling. Her palms were cold, and her whole body was cold.
