Chapter 602 Chase Faints

The next few days were eerily quiet on Skigeth's end.

Oakworth was still on the hunt for Jared, but there was no trace of him. It was like he had vanished into thin air.

Grace had been on edge lately. The calmness seemed like a good thing, but she couldn't shake the feeling that it was the calm before the storm. She feared that something bigger was on the horizon.

The winds in Skigeth had been strong these past few days, with reports of tornadoes sweeping across the sea.

The day for Grace and Xavier to finalize their marriage paperwork was fast approaching.

Grace couldn't shake a nagging sense of unease, even though everything seemed so peaceful.

Dorian was still in Skigeth, surrounded by a team of bodyguards who were ensuring his safety.

He walked the streets, trying to connect with the places Elizabeth had once known, but it was all in vain. There were no traces of Elizabeth, nor any memories to be found.

However, Dorian was in contact with the owners of the Lewis Villa, who were attempting to purchase the property.

Grace met with Dorian. "Maybe my mom was always in Aetheria. This place doesn't seem to help you regain your memory. You might need something more stimulating, and I'm afraid I can't help with that."

Dorian looked at Grace with gentle eyes. "Grace, I might have to return to Aetheria for work."

Dorian was reluctant to leave, but his position was too important. He couldn't stay away for long.

Aetheria had been calling him back repeatedly. It was unheard of for a leader to be away for so long, and there were even rumors that something might have happened to him. Dorian had no choice but to leave.

Grace nodded. "I understand. Your position is unique."

"I might have to leave soon. I'll miss you. If you need anything, you can always call me." Dorian had already given Grace his private number.

"Okay, I'll call you often. Don't get annoyed with me."

"Of course not." Dorian was genuinely reluctant to leave.

He often thought how wonderful it would be if Grace were his daughter. He even considered taking her to Aetheria.

"Why don't you come to Aetheria with me? You can be my special guest and stay in my palace. It's heavily guarded, and Jared wouldn't stand a chance."

"Thank you, Mr. Astor, but I think I'll stay here. My family and my love are here. But I'll visit Aetheria someday. I love it there; it's a beautiful country with warm people."

Dorian nodded. "I look forward to your visit."

After a brief chat, Dorian headed to the airport and flew back to Vesperia.

Grace hoped Dorian would regain his memory. She wanted to know about his past with her mother.

She felt a strange connection to Dorian, almost like an instinct to be close to him, even though she wasn't his daughter. It was odd.

She hoped everything would go well for Dorian in Aetheria and that Jane would never use him again.

After seeing Dorian off, Angela arranged to meet Grace. When Angela arrived, she waved her hand in front of Grace's face.

"Isn't it beautiful?"

Grace hadn't seen anything yet, just Angela's five fingers.

"What is it?" she asked, puzzled.

Angela stopped and grinned. "My diamond!"

It was a large, sparkling diamond ring.

Grace took Angela's hand to admire it. "Wow, did my cousin give you this?"

Angela nodded. "Yeah, he probably felt a bit insecure after Caden's comment last time. He was worried I might leave, so he slipped it on my finger in the middle of the night."

"Looks like my cousin is quite thoughtful, and he has good taste!"

"Right? I love it. I think your cousin is just rich and generous. Any woman with a bit of charm could probably take him for everything he's got."

Grace shook her head. "No way. My cousin isn't stupid. He knows who's good and who's not."

Angela wiggled her finger. "Nope, I think he's just rich and generous."

Otherwise, why would he keep giving her money without expecting anything in return?

If she were a con artist, she could have taken Scott for everything he had.

As they were talking about Scott, he suddenly called Grace.

Grace looked at the number and answered. "Scott, I'm with Angela."

Scott sounded urgent. "Grace, something's wrong. Grandpa collapsed and is in the hospital."

Grace's face turned pale. "I'm on my way!"

After finding out which hospital her grandfather was in, Grace and Angela rushed over.

Scott and Steven were already there at the hospital.

"What happened?" Grace asked anxiously. Her grandfather had been in good health recently. How could he suddenly collapse?

Chase was still being examined, and there were no results yet. Scott explained that he had some errands to run and then got a call from the housekeeper saying Chase had collapsed at home. They rushed him to the hospital.

Chase had been in poor health before, and everyone was worried.

Soon, the doctor came out with the test results.

"How is he, doctor?" they all asked.

The doctor frowned. "The patient's condition is unusual. His hormone levels are unstable, and it's quite serious. But we haven't identified the exact cause. We suspect poisoning. We found something strange in his blood and need to investigate further."

"Is it serious?" Grace asked.

The doctor replied, "Yes, it's quite serious. He needs to be hospitalized for observation to see if his condition worsens. Has he been unwell before?"

"Yes, he was frequently hospitalized but had been better for the past six months," Scott said.

"Did he eat or touch anything unusual today?" the doctor asked.

Scott shook his head. "No, we all ate the same food."

"We need to keep observing. Don't worry too much."

Easier said than done. How could they not worry?

Chase had suddenly collapsed, and the hospital couldn't figure out why.
