Chapter 261 A Fierce Kiss
Xavier didn't even glance up as Grace swiftly snatched the wine glass from his hand. "Stop drinking. Do you really want to end up in the hospital?"
It was a familiar voice.
Xavier looked up and saw Grace standing in front of him.
With the backlighting, Grace's face appeared somewhat indistinct, but in Xavier's blurred vision, her countenance was astonishingly exquisite.
The aroma of the rose-scented body wash filled the air, distinct from the room's odor, enticing Xavier with its sweetness and arousing his desire to embrace Grace.
The scene before him felt like a dream. Xavier laughed at himself. How could Grace appear in a place like this? He must be drunk and hallucinating.
"Victor, give me the wine," Xavier said, his voice hoarse from the alcohol.
He must have been mistaken, thinking Victor was Grace.
But Victor and Isaac were both stunned, staring at the woman in front of them.
"Miss, who are you? Did you enter the wrong room?" Victor didn't dare to blink.
This natural beauty was stunning, surpassing even the heavily made-up women. Her composed and cool demeanor left them momentarily speechless.
Grace usually didn't wear makeup at home after a bath, so this was her natural look.
In her rush to get here, and since she drove herself, Grace didn't have time to touch up her makeup. She had forgotten she wasn't wearing any!
"I..."Grace had just started to speak when Victor said, "No way, I need to call Grace right away. A beautiful girl is here to compete for Xavier."
"Miss, you should leave. Someone is here to pick up Xavier, and no matter what you do, you won't get him!"Victor kept talking, not giving Grace a chance to speak.
He also started dialing Grace's number.
As soon as he finished speaking, Grace's phone rang.
Since the room was quiet and well-insulated, the ringtone was especially loud.
Victor was dumbfounded, watching Grace pick up her phone and hang up the call.
"Mr. Hastings, no need to call. I am Grace."
Victor and Isaac were completely stunned. "You're Grace?"
Victor's eyes dilated in disbelief. How could this flawless beauty be Grace?
Isaac had seen Grace before, and she didn't look like this. He nudged Victor. "Did Grace get plastic surgery for Xavier?"
Both of them stared at her, making Grace feel embarrassed.
"Mr. Hastings, I am Grace, and I didn't get plastic surgery. I'll explain this to you later." Grace said.
"You better explain it to us. Just make sure to take Xavier home. He's really drunk. Look at the table; he drank three-fifths of it himself," Victor said.
Victor tugged Isaac away, but he couldn't resist stealing glances back at Grace and Xavier, causing him to inadvertently collide with the door frame.
Victor yelped and held his head.
"Are you okay, Mr. Hastings?" Grace thought Victor might need someone to help him back.
Victor waved his hand. "I'm fine. Don't worry."
Victor and Isaac left, leaving only Grace and Xavier in the room.
The last time they were alone like this was in the elevator.
Xavier stared at Grace.
"If your stomach is bad, don't drink. If you really want to go to the hospital, just tell me. I'll beat you up and send you there," This way, she could vent her frustration, although she didn't quite understand why it made her feel better.
"Give me the wine," Xavier said, reaching for the glass in Grace's hand.
But Grace held it further away. "You can't drink anymore. You've had enough!"
"What right do you have to tell me what to do?" Xavier asked.
"I..." Grace hesitated. She had no right to control Xavier, but she couldn't just watch him drink himself into oblivion.
Xavier stood up, trying to grab the wine from Grace.
Grace couldn't let him have it, but her height was no match for Xavier's.
Xavier was so tall that he easily took the glass from her hand.
"I don't want to control you, but Mr. Hastings had entrusted you to me. At least for tonight, I'm responsible for you." Grace said.
Grace focused on keeping the wine away from Xavier.
She almost jumped, not realizing her hand was pressed against Xavier's chest.
However, suddenly, Xavier staggered backward as if pushed by an unseen force. He found himself partially reclined on the sofa, while the wine glass slipped from his grasp, shattering upon impact and causing its contents to spill across the floor.
Grace's weight had been on Xavier, so when he fell, she did too, ending up on top of him.
They were very close, not the first time they had been this intimate.
Grace had not drunk any alcohol and was exceptionally clear-headed. Before her, Xavier's somewhat heavy breathing filled the air with the strong scent of liquor.
"If you don't want to control me, who do you want to control, Omari?" Mentioning Omari made Xavier want to tear him apart.
Why did Xavier always bring up Omari?
"What does he have to do with this?" Grace blinked in confusion.
Xavier looked into Grace's eyes, losing all his rationality.
The sight of Grace before him was enough to drive him crazy. If Omari were to see her like this, he would undoubtedly become even more relentless in his pursuit of Grace.
Omari was a hypocrite!
Xavier's voice tightened. "How does it not matter? Didn't you have dinner alone with him? Doesn't he like you?"
"So what? Just because we had dinner doesn't mean anything. Just because he likes me doesn't mean I have to agree." Grace retorted.
Xavier's Adam's apple bobbed, and his eyes were bloodshot from lack of sleep.
"Fine, I won't control you. Drink if you want." Grace pushed herself up from the sofa, trying to get up.
Their current position was indeed inappropriate.
However, before she could stand, Xavier's large hand grabbed her wrist, pulling her back with great force.
This time, Xavier didn't end up under Grace. He flipped her over, pinning her beneath him, making it impossible for her to move.
The next second, Xavier leaned down and fiercely kissed her.
