Chapter 434 What I said before about liking you was not a lie.
Robert, standing nearby, looked shocked. Grace was pregnant?
Grace and Xavier locked eyes, surprise flashing in hers, while Xavier stepped closer.
"How did you know?" Grace asked incredulously. She had hidden it so well, having Steven conceal all the hospital information. How could Xavier possibly know?
Xavier said, "How long were you planning to keep this from me?"
"Let's talk over there," With Robert still present, she didn't want him to know about her and Xavier.
"My car is over there," Xavier said.
Grace turned to Robert. "Robert, I'm almost there. You head back first. I need to have a word with him."
Robert looked concerned. "I'll wait here for you. You two talk; I won't eavesdrop."
"No need, you should go. We'll have dinner together another time," Grace said politely.
However, to Xavier, it sounded like Grace and this man planned to have dinner together again.
They were dating? Grace had met him on her first day in Country E. Why hadn't Xavier known about this man before?
Robert agreed. "Alright, message me when you get home. If you don't, I'll come looking for you."
Grace and Robert chatted as if no one else was around, while Xavier's expression darkened.
"Bye!" Grace waved to Robert.
Robert finally left but kept looking back, worrying that Xavier might do something to her.
His gaze seemed so affectionate, which annoyed Xavier. He stood beside Grace to shield her from Robert's view.
Once Robert was gone, Grace looked at Xavier. "How did you find out?"
Xavier suddenly hugged her from behind, burying his head in her neck, his hands resting on her lower abdomen.
His hands moved as if trying to feel the presence of the child. However Grace was wearing thick clothes and a coat, so he couldn't feel anything.
"I went to your home," Xavier said.
Grace had expected Xavier to sneak into her house, but she...
"I found a prenatal check-up report from a month ago in your drawer. So when you came to Oakworth to find me, you already knew you were pregnant," Xavier now understood how heartbroken Grace had been.
She must have been so happy to know she was pregnant, perhaps wanting to share the joy with him, but he said a lot of hurtful words to her
"Yes," Grace admitted, remaining still in Xavier's embrace.
Xavier held her tightly, as if trying to merge her into his bones.
At this moment, with his wife and baby were in his arms, Xavier felt like he had his whole world.
But for some reason, he felt an emptiness inside. Even though he was holding Grace, he felt she could leave him at any moment, which made him panic.
"Grace, I..."He wanted to say something which he was interrupted by Grace.
"Don't misunderstand. This child has nothing to do with you, and I've already had an abortion," Grace said calmly. Xavier knew, so be it.
Although Xavier had been acting like a madman lately, chasing her to Country E, they were already over.
"What?" He was puzzled.
Grace said, "You must have searched, right? I went to the hospital a few days ago, and that's when I had the abortion. Xavier, we're over. Why would you think I'd keep your child?"
Xavier hadn't expected the pain to come so quickly. He didn't believe it.
But what Grace said made perfect sense. Why would she keep his child?
He realized he had learned everything too late. It was his fault.
"It's okay, we can have more children in the future," Xavier said in a low voice, unsure if he was saying it for Grace or himself.
"There is no future," Grace said, "I'm not talking about the child, but us. We have no future. Please stay away from me."
Seeing Grace so calm, Xavier finally panicked."No, I don't want that. I love you, Grace. I've loved you for a long time. During our time apart, I realized I can't live without you. You've become a part of my life. What I said before was all lies, just words spoken in anger. Even though I think there might be some issues between your mom and my mother, I never have intended to take it out on you."
Grace said, "Xavier, don't you find it ridiculous listening to yourself? That's not what you said back then."
"Back then, it was because of Stephanie..." Xavier had just started to explain when the Coleman family members came out.
"Xavier, let go of Grace!" Scott rushed forward, holding a stick.
"Xavier, don't push it. You sneaked into my house today, and now you're lurking outside. Grace, don't be afraid. This isn't Country C, and Xavier can't do whatever he wants here."
Beside Scott were Thomas and Steven. It could be said that the entire Coleman family was backing Grace.
They would protect her whether Grace was wrong or not.
Xavier remained silent.
Why was it that every time he tried to explain things to Grace, he was interrupted?
The matter with Stephanie, although not yet confirmed, was almost certain.
"Grace, come here," Scott called.
Grace moved, trying to get out of Xavier's embrace. "Scott is calling me. Let me go."
"Grace, this is really a misunderstanding. Give me some time. Let your brother leave, and we talk alone, just for five minutes," Xavier pleaded, unwilling to let her go.
"No, I don't want to waste five minutes on you."
With that, Grace pulled away from Xavier's hands and walked towards the Coleman Mansion.
"Grace, are you okay?" Scott asked, concerned.
Grace shook her head. "No, nothing happened between us. You said Xavier sneaked into the house this afternoon. What's that about?"
Scott said, "I'll tell you in detail when we get back."
Scott and the others led Grace inside, while Xavier stood at the door, watching her.
After Grace entered the mansion, she looked back and saw that Xavier had no intention of leaving.
"Grace, are you feeling soft-hearted?" Scott asked, seeing her expression. He knew Xavier had gone too far, hurting Grace and now pestering her.
Grace didn't answer that question . She just said, "Scott, let's go back. I'm a bit tired."
