Chapter 644 Check the Surveillance, Find Out the Identity of That Man

The elevator doors closed, and Killer watched it ascend, lost in thought for a long time.

On the other end of the phone, Hugh called his name, "Killer?"

After several calls, Killer finally snapped back to reality. "Mr. Ramirez."

"What were you doing just now?"

"Nothing."

Hugh didn't seem suspicious. "Keep a close eye on things over there. Tell Dorian that I don't want to burn bridges unless necessary."

"I understand."

"And once you complete this mission, it's time for you to come back for the antidote, right?"

"Yes."

Those who worked for Hugh, especially those with significant power and status, were all implanted with a Gu worm. They had to take an antidote every three months. If they didn't, the worm would cause excruciating pain, unbearable for an ordinary person. Some who betrayed Hugh died in agony without the antidote.

It was about time for Killer to take his next dose.

"Alright," Hugh agreed.

Hugh hung up, and Killer, still downstairs, looked up at the 33rd floor. The light in that room was still on.

Killer stood in the night for a while, then went to a nearby convenience store and bought a pack of cigarettes.

He rarely smoked, but now he felt an inexplicable frustration and used nicotine to numb himself.

No matter how much he smoked, the feeling wouldn't go away. The image of that woman and the sensation of holding her in his arms kept surfacing in his mind.

He looked down at his hands, calloused from years of handling guns.

He had no memory of a few years ago. Hugh said it was because he failed a mission and was severely injured, damaging his brain. He couldn't remember anything from before.

For the past few years, he had been working for Hugh, undergoing relentless training, and surviving countless brushes with death.

Surviving was a matter of luck and resilience.

Once this mission was over, he would return to Thalassia.

...

Upstairs, Marcus arrived at the room that Killer mentioned. He had taken a key card from the front desk and easily unlocked the door.

The man was gone, and on the large bed, a woman lay there, tears streaming down her face even in her sleep.

"Mommy, Mommy!" Marcus walked over and gently called out to Grace.

He took a handkerchief and gently wiped away her tears. "Mommy, did you have a nightmare?"

"Mommy!"

Marcus woke Grace up. She opened her eyes, still in a daze.

His small hand touched her cheek. "Mommy, why are you crying so sadly?"

"Marcus." Grace quickly wiped her eyes and looked around.

"How did I get here?" Grace's mind was blank.

She remembered drinking at the bar and then seeing Xavier!

"Xavier, Xavier!" Grace hurriedly got out of bed and opened the door, looking around, but there was nothing.

"Marcus, how did you know I was here? Did you bring me to the hotel?"

Grace remembered drinking at the bar and seeing Xavier.

She had rushed to hug him, not letting him go, but when she woke up, she was in the hotel.

"Of course not. How could I carry you? You went to the bar to find a man and booked a room. When I called you, a gentleman answered and told me to come here to get you."

"A gentleman? Did you see what he looked like?"

Marcus shook his head. "There was no one here when I arrived."

Grace rubbed her head. So, at the bar, she really hugged a man. But who was he?

Her memory was fuzzy, and she couldn't recall the man's face, but she remembered seeing Xavier and rushing over.

Grace rubbed her aching head. Her phone was beside her, and Robert's call came through.

Grace answered, "Robert."

"Grace, I went to the restroom, and when I came back, you were gone. Are you okay?"

"Sorry, I got drunk and worried you. I'm fine now. I'm back."

"That's good." Robert sighed in relief.

"Sorry."

"Don't mention it. As long as you're okay."

After hanging up, Grace got up. "Mommy, are we going back?"

"Should I take you home first? I still have something to do."

"What is it? Mommy, I'll go with you."

"I need to go back to the bar." To see who that man was.

What if...

What if it really was Xavier?

Though Grace knew it was unlikely, she still wanted to check.

"I'll go with you!"

Marcus insisted on going, so Grace had to take her son along.

They went downstairs together. At the front desk, Grace asked, "Excuse me, can you tell me who booked this room?"

Grace wanted to gather more information about who had booked the room.

The staff checked and shook their head. "Sorry, ma'am, we can't disclose that information."

Grace didn't press further and left with her son.

In the shadows nearby, Killer watched the mother and son leave, one holding the other's hand.

His brow furrowed, and he stared intently, not looking away even after they got into the car and drove off.

...

Grace went to the bar and told the staff her identity, claiming she had lost something. The bar staff immediately took her to view the security footage.

Grace mentioned the approximate time, and the footage showed a group of thugs causing trouble. Then Grace saw a figure and rushed over.

"Mommy, you're so fierce. Should I be watching this?" Marcus quickly covered his eyes.

Usually, his mom was so reserved, never flirting with any man. He didn't expect her to be so aggressive when drunk.

Grace said, "Stop joking!"

She frowned at the figure. It wasn't her fault for rushing over; the figure really looked like Xavier.

Just seeing the back, Grace felt it was Xavier standing there.

Grace's heart tightened. She had never given up searching all these years. She even felt that was Xavier, even the jawline was so similar.

Then, as she rushed over and the thugs followed, the man turned around, revealing his face.

The face was quite ordinary, not particularly handsome, but Grace was stunned.

Wasn't this the man who talked to Dorian at his birthday party a few days ago?
