Chapter 194 Pushing Her Down on the Dining Table
Xavier stood close, his presence almost overwhelming, with a faint cedar scent wrapping around Grace.
Even up close, Xavier's face was impeccably perfect. Grace wondered how many had the privilege of seeing him so intimately.
Sitting on the cold table, Grace met his deep, stormy eyes.
She still couldn't figure out what Xavier meant. 'Does he literally want my body, or...'
Her eyes darted around, unsure where to look.
Xavier had unbuttoned a few buttons, showing off his Adam's apple and collarbone. Grace suddenly felt hot and her mouth went dry.
"I don't get what you mean," Grace whispered.
"Don't you? When a man wants a woman, what else could it mean?" Xavier suddenly grabbed her chin, making her look at him.
Though his touch was soft, the air between them was charged.
Grace's eyes sparkled. Meeting Xavier's intense gaze, she saw his pupils dilate, and he almost felt like pushing her down on the table right then and there.
Just then, a noise came from the other side. They turned to see Kieran awkwardly standing there.
"Oh, I'm really getting old. Can't see at night. Where am I? Did I come to the wrong place?" Kieran mumbled, feeling his way around. "I didn't see anything, I saw nothing."
Grace quickly pushed Xavier away and jumped off the table.
"We're not what you think!" Grace tried to explain, but Kieran had already walked off.
"Not what he thinks?" Xavier asked, staring at her.
'Does Grace really not want anything to do with me?' Xavier wondered.
"Kieran..." Grace worried about rumors, even though it wasn't really a rumor, but it could affect Xavier.
"He won't say a word." Kieran was in Xavier's trusted circle. All the servants in the Bameran villa knew better than to gossip behind their backs or say anything inappropriate.
Grace wasn't worried about herself but didn't want Xavier caught in any fallout.
"Xavier, if there's nothing else, I'll head back now," Grace said.
It was late, and Grace deliberately left her earrings with Xavier.
"Come with me," Xavier said, then walked into the Bameran villa.
The villa was stunning, almost unreal.
Grace followed, her heart racing, filled with memories of their past. Could it be that Xavier...
Xavier went to his room, and Grace followed.
"Close the door," Xavier instructed.
"It's not good, being in a room with you at night." Grace rejected.
But Xavier's gaze was firm, and Grace quickly closed the door.
"Go wash your face," Xavier continued.
"Can I go back to wash?"
"What do you think?"
Realizing Xavier knew everything, Grace decided to play it cool. She went to the bathroom and started washing her face.
The room had makeup remover and various cosmetics. Grace noticed the dark foundation Xavier had used on her face before.
Covering her face, she thought about how well she had hidden her secret, only to realize Xavier probably saw right through her, maybe even finding it amusing.
Reflecting on Xavier's long-running act, Grace felt a mix of gratitude. He had indulged her in this playful deception for so long.
Standing before the mirror, she splashed water on her face. As the droplets fell, her natural rosy cheeks reappeared, giving her complexion a fresh glow.
She wondered why Xavier would be interested in someone as unattractive as her. Could it be her face?
But she quickly dismissed the thought. Xavier, who had met countless beautiful people, wouldn't be swayed by looks alone.
In the beginning, even at the hotel, Xavier hadn't seen her face.
Maybe it was just physical compatibility. Xavier probably thought she was a quiet, trouble-free partner, so he chose her.
After all, at Xavier's age, he had physiological needs.
So tonight, did Xavier want...
"What are you thinking?" a voice suddenly came from behind.
Grace turned sharply, seeing the bathroom door had somehow opened.
"How would I know what you're thinking?" Grace mumbled.
Xavier walked in with big strides. "I'm asking what you were thinking about."
Grace stayed silent.
But as they spoke, Xavier had already walked behind her, his eyes drawn to her face still glistening with water droplets. Her thick eyelashes were wet, fluttering like little fans.
Her fair, palm-sized face was flushed, not naturally red, but from some hidden, embarrassing thought that made her blush and her heart race.
Xavier said deliberately, "What? Were you thinking about me?"
"I wasn't thinking about anything."
"Standing here for so long without thinking about anything?" Xavier's hand grabbed Grace's wrist from behind, feeling her pulse. "Your heart is beating so fast, it doesn't seem like you weren't thinking about anything."
With Xavier's words, Grace's face turned even redder. Some passionate images had indeed flashed through her mind, but she would never admit it in front of Xavier.
"Do you need to use the bathroom? I'll leave." Grace was about to walk out but was pulled back by Xavier.
"Don't move." He suddenly approached, brushing aside the hair by Grace's ear.
Xavier's lips were close to Grace's ear, his hot breath on her earlobe.
Grace didn't dare move. This was different from the dining table earlier. Earlier, it seemed like Xavier was teasing her, but now his body was pressed against hers.
Grace felt a sudden, cold touch on her ear. When she looked in the mirror, she saw a pair of earrings now adorning her ears, ones that Xavier had personally put on her.
The long earrings dangled, almost touching her collarbone. Grace's neck was already tender and white, and with her thick hair as a backdrop, the red gemstones wrapped in gold velvet seemed to glow, looking stunning.
Last time, Xavier had only seen Grace wearing one earring in the dim light of the car.
Now, with Grace's true appearance revealed, paired with these perfectly fitting earrings, it was as if they were custom-made for her.
Grace looked stunning, like a piece of art.
When Xavier saw the earrings, he had imagined how Grace would look wearing them. Now, seeing the real thing, it was even more beautiful than he had imagined.
Grace wanted to touch them, but Xavier's warning tone was right by her ear. "Don't take them off!"
