Chapter 540 Aren't You Afraid I'll Blackmail You?
The meal went relatively smoothly. After eating, Sterling and Xavier went over to discuss some matters.
Although they didn't manage to talk at the dinner table, they continued their conversation at the Coleman Mansion.
"What do you want that piece of land for?" Sterling asked.
Xavier replied, "Don't worry about what I want it for. Just name your price."
"That's not going to work. What if there's gold underneath, or it's a prime piece of land? What if I lose out? If you don't tell me what you plan to do with it, there's no way I'm giving it to you."
Xavier's people had approached Sterling's project team to discuss buying the land.
Although Sterling usually didn't bother with such trivial matters, he was curious when he heard that the DG Group wanted to buy it.
"Rest assured, there's no gold on that land, and it's not a prime location. It used to be a park, as you probably know. I just want to rebuild it into a park."
"You're paying a high price to build a park? Are you crazy, or am I?" Sterling couldn't understand Xavier's actions.
Such a prime piece of land in the center of Skigeth, if redeveloped, would sell easily.
Moreover, Sterling had already spent a lot of money when he bought the land, so the property prices there wouldn't be cheap.
But now Xavier planned to buy it for charity?
"Just name your price, or if you want a project, I can give you a discount."
Sterling squinted at Xavier. Since when had Xavier become so easy to talk to? Not only had he given him two big projects yesterday, but today he was also being so generous to get this piece of land.
It seemed that Xavier had changed a lot in some ways.
"Aren't you afraid I'll extort a lot of money from you?" Sterling asked.
Xavier didn't care. "I don't lack money."
"I can give you the land, but the price is doubled," Sterling conceded.
"No problem," Xavier agreed readily.
Not to mention just doubling the price, even if it were ten times, Xavier could afford it.
Sterling said, "I haven't finished. You, Xavier, still owe me a favor. No matter what I ask in the future, you can't refuse."
"Anything related to Grace is off-limits."
Sterling fell silent.
"You know what I'm going to ask?"
Xavier said calmly, "We've known each other for so many years. How could I not know what you're up to?"
If Sterling asked him to leave Grace or give her up, he would never agree.
"Fine, it won't involve Grace. It's not easy to get you to owe me a favor," Sterling agreed.
He had owed Xavier a favor before, and now it was finally his turn to have leverage over Xavier.
"Alright, thank you."
Sterling seemed to have discovered a new continent. "What did you just say?"
Even someone like Xavier would say thank you.
"I said, stop thinking about Grace. She has nothing to do with you."
"That's not certain. Fair competition." Who knows, he might have a chance someday!
Sterling's gaze turned to Grace, who was sitting over there, exuding an irresistible charm.
She seemed busy with work. She and Xavier were really alike, both workaholics.
With Xavier and the Coleman family, Grace didn't need to work at all, but she did everything on her own without relying on anyone.
Now, Iris was internationally renowned, the top brand in fragrances.
It was said that Grace had also invested in many companies, showing some business acumen.
Sterling hadn't looked for more than two seconds before a slap landed on the back of his head. "What are you looking at? Is it something you should be looking at?"
Sterling fell silent.
"If you dare to touch me, I'll take back what I said about giving you that land!"
It was getting late, and Angela was planning to leave.
Chase was still trying to persuade her to stay. "Angela, you're married to Scott. Why do you still want to leave? This is your home."
"I know, but I don't want to be a bother. Don't worry, I've already bought a new place. In a couple of days, Steven and I will move there, so we won't disturb you and your wife."
"That's not what I meant," Angela quickly waved her hand. She didn't dislike Chase.
But she and Scott were just putting on a show; how could they really live together?
"I know you're a good kid, but I don't want to be an obstacle for you. If you feel uncomfortable, we'll move out," Chase said, just wanting Angela and Scott to be together.
Angela said, "Grandpa Coleman, I'm not uncomfortable. This is your home; I'm the outsider."
"We're all family; there are no outsiders," Chase said, feeling particularly good, which also improved his health.
Scott walked over and put his hand on Angela's shoulder. "Grandpa, she's staying here tonight."
"That's good."
Angela gritted her teeth. If she stayed here, wouldn't that mean sharing a room with Scott?
She stomped on Scott's foot and dragged him to a corner. "What are you talking about?"
Scott said, "It's Grandpa's wish. Do you think he'll let you leave if you don't stay?"
"But I don't want to share a room with you," Angela said bluntly.
Scott fell silent.
Angela actually dared to dislike him. Wasn't he the one at a disadvantage? Did she think he wanted to share a room with her?
Angela thought for a moment. It wasn't the first time, anyway. She waved her hand. "Fine, you're safer than a woman."
Angela wasn't afraid. Sleeping with Scott was probably safer than sleeping with a lesbian.
Grace and Xavier had left, and Sterling had also gone.
Steven still had some matters to attend to. Chase had adjusted to the time difference but wasn't in a hurry to sleep. He sat in the living room, probably worried that if he left, Angela might still want to leave.
Angela had no choice but to go to the room with Scott.
"Do you want to shower first, or should I?" Angela asked.
Scott looked serious. "You go ahead."
Chase had already prepared new things for Angela. Just as she was about to shower, she saw a message on her phone.
She waved her hand. "You go first; I need to reply to this message."
Scott went into the bathroom and soon came out.
To his surprise, Angela was still in the same spot, holding her phone and seemingly chatting.
Who was Angela chatting with so enthusiastically?
"I'm done," Scott said.
Angela responded, "Got it."
Then she lowered her head and continued replying to messages.
Scott suddenly felt a strange emotion. Who was Angela chatting with so intently that she didn't notice anyone else?
