Chapter 637 Airport Riot

Grace searched around again, but she still couldn't find the figure she had just seen.

She even contacted the local tourism office to check the surveillance footage, but there were too many people in the video, and she still couldn't find that person.

After leaving the surveillance room, Grace felt utterly lost. She had seen him, she was sure of it!

She returned to the spot where she had seen him, but the crowd had changed several times over.

Grace crouched down, hugging her arms around herself, looking small and vulnerable.

Over the years, she had been incredibly strong and resilient in the eyes of others, a true powerhouse.

But only she knew how fragile she really was, just an ordinary person.

Grace was convinced she hadn't been mistaken. She even sent the photo to Angela: [Angela, I saw Xavier!]

Angela's heart skipped a beat just reading Grace's message, even before she opened the photo.

She knew Grace had never given up searching for Xavier all these years, but...

Each glimmer of hope had only led to endless disappointment.

It had been so many years without any news of Xavier. How could he still be alive?

And this was in far-off Thalassia.

When Angela opened the photo, all she saw was a very blurry figure. The image was so pixelated from being zoomed in that it was hard to make out any details, but there was a slight resemblance.

Angela knew it couldn't be Xavier.

Angela called Grace, who answered immediately.

"Grace, you..."

"Angela, I saw him, I really saw him!"

"I know, I know. You saw someone who looks a lot like Mr. Montgomery, right?"

"No, it's not just a resemblance! It's him!"

Grace was certain she had seen Xavier.

She couldn't explain the feeling, even though she had only seen him in a photo and not in person. She just felt it was Xavier!

"Grace, think about it. If Mr. Montgomery were still alive, wouldn't he have come back to find you? He loved you so much, and it's been so long. He... Grace, are you done with your work there? Your son misses you!"

Angela didn't know how to continue this conversation. She knew it wasn't Xavier, but for Grace, this was endless hope.

She didn't want to crush Grace's hope; it was too cruel.

But she also didn't want Grace to be stuck in this forever.

"Marcus, come talk to your mommy," Angela called over the little boy.

"Mommy!" A soft voice came through the phone.

Hearing her son's voice, Grace's eyes welled up with tears.

"I'm here."

"Mommy, when are you coming back? I miss you."

"I'll be back soon. Be good and listen to Auntie, okay? No mischief."

"Okay, Mommy!"

The phone was back in Angela's hand.

"Anyway, come back soon. We're all waiting for you."

"Okay," Grace agreed.

After lingering in that spot for a long time, Grace finally returned to her hotel.

Her flight back to Vesperia was the next day. Grace sat in a corner, still looking at the blurry, cropped photo on her phone.

She had looked at this photo countless times. It was the closest resemblance to Xavier she had seen in all these years.

As she waited for her boarding time, chaos suddenly erupted at the airport. A group of people seemed to be chasing someone.

She was in a corner, and the person being chased ran towards her, finding no way out.

The pursuers quickly surrounded him, speaking in a foreign language, "Run, go on! You think you can deceive Hugh and just leave?"

These people were part of Hugh's gang, exuding a menacing aura.

Hugh, as the gang leader, had immense power. This area was already chaotic, and many places were under his control, so even the airport couldn't intervene.

The other passengers, though scared, were locals and used to such situations, huddling quietly to the side.

"I didn't mean to, please let me go."

"Let you go? Do you think that's possible?" The leader, with a scarred face, looked terrifying.

The fugitive, knowing he had no way out, grabbed Grace, holding a knife to her throat.

"Don't move, or I'll take this woman down with me!"

Grace felt the cold blade against her skin.

She knew Thalassia was chaotic, but she hadn't expected it to be this bad. Was this an attempted murder in broad daylight?

And how unlucky was she to be caught up in this, just trying to find a quiet moment?

The pursuers sneered, "Do what you want. We don't know this woman. Do you think Mr. Ramirez cares?"

To them, a human life meant nothing.

Following Hugh, they all had blood on their hands.

"Wait..."

No one cared about Grace's life, but Grace did.

"I'm just a bystander. Can we talk this out? Let me go?"

Grace didn't want to get involved in their vendettas, but her life was at stake. Her son was waiting for her to come home.

The fugitive, realizing he had no leverage, heard Grace say, "Why don't you put the knife down and calm down? I can help negotiate. What did you do wrong?"

"Hugh won't let me go. You won't even get a chance to see him!"

"But killing me won't help. It would just be another death. Let me help you. I'm Grace Lewis, trust me." Grace tried to persuade him.

Grace Lewis?

The name sounded familiar.

Just then, Hugh's men closed in.

The fugitive, more agitated, shouted, "Stay back, or I'll kill her!"

He knew he was doomed and wanted to take someone with him.

"Hugh is a devil. You're forcing me. He already killed my family. He won't spare me!"

"Killing feels good, doesn't it? Today, I'll try it too!"

He raised his hand, ready to stab Grace.

A gunshot rang out. The expected pain didn't come, only warm blood splattered on Grace's face. She was stunned.

The man screamed, clutching his wrist.

As he was about to stab Grace, a bullet had pierced his wrist.

"Killer's aim is unbeatable," Hugh's men praised. A slight miss would have hit Grace's head instead of the man's wrist.

And from such a distance, only Killer could be so precise.
