Chapter 596 It Turns Out Intelligence Is Inherited

"Scott, my dear son-in-law, come over here and let me get a good look at you. You're quite the handsome one."

"Our Angela can be a bit thoughtless sometimes, causing you trouble. When do you have some free time to come over to our place?"

"Look at this, you and Angela have been married for so long, and you haven't come to see me and her father. We haven't even met your parents. We're all family, isn't this a bit inappropriate? If word gets out, people might say the Coleman family is impolite."

Ainsley's intentions were clear as day, especially after learning about Scott's background. She was quite pleased with herself.

These past few days, she had been telling everyone she met that the famous Coleman family was her in-laws and that Scott was her son-in-law.

But no one believed her.

For one, there had been rumors that Angela married a poor man. How could he be from the Coleman family? Would the Coleman family even look at the Turner family?

And then there was the whole mess with Angela and the Ross family. Everyone knew about that scandal. The Turner family sure had some nerve bragging.

People didn't believe her and even talked behind her back, which made Ainsley furious.

Scott's eyes were cold. "Are you saying the Coleman family is impolite?"

"No, no, that's not what I meant," Ainsley quickly explained.

In front of Scott, she was a completely different person than she was with Angela.

"Everyone saw how you treated Angela before. A few words from you won't change that. Don't bother her again!" Scott's voice was icy.

Angela blinked, just watching Scott.

Every time she found Scott annoying, he always showed up at the crucial moment.

Just like now. Scott had already left, so why was he back?

How did he know Ainsley was here?

"She's my daughter. Just because she married you doesn't mean she's no longer part of the Turner family. Why can't I come see her?" Ainsley retorted.

Scott didn't want to waste words with these people. He said directly, "I've made myself clear. If you don't believe me, you can try."

Without waiting for Ainsley to respond, Scott took Angela's hand. "Let's go."

Angela followed him into the elevator.

"Why are you back?" Angela looked up at Scott, who was much taller than her.

Scott said, "I saw a car by the roadside that looked like it belonged to the Turner family, so I guessed she might be here to see you."

"You recognize the Turner family's car?" Angela didn't even know it herself.

"I've seen it twice. I remember the license plate."

Angela was amazed. "You've only seen it twice and you remember the plate?"

"Isn't that normal? What's so hard about it?"

"Your memory is that good? Really? How long would it take you to memorize a book?" Angela asked.

She had never really gotten to know these things before. To be honest, she didn't know much about Omari either.

Omari said, "Depends on the book. A regular one might take a day or two."

"A whole book?" Angela was stunned. Could you even count memorizing books like that?

Back in school, memorizing a single passage took her forever. Long ones took a week, and it was a headache.

"What about historical events?" Angela asked. "You must have memorized those, right?"

"That takes just a few minutes. Two reads and I'm good."

"Really? Just two reads?" Angela couldn't believe it. Was Scott pulling her leg? How could something so hard be possible?

"I don't believe you. If your memory is that good, you must still remember it now?"

"Some of it."

"Then let me test you. Recite something at random."

Angela named a passage, thinking she might give Scott a chance to look it over twice. But Scott started reciting immediately, without a single stumble.

It was nothing like the stuttering mess she and her classmates had been back in school.

Angela marveled, "How does your brain even work?"

Scott said, "This is nothing. Steven is even better than me."

"I always thought Grace was smarter than me in school. Turns out it's a family trait."

"You're just not that bright."

"Stop with the personal attacks. Wait, we're getting off track. About the money you sent me, did my mom ask you for a wedding gift again? I can't take that money. Give me your account number, and I'll transfer it back."

"That money is for you. It has nothing to do with a wedding gift. Keep it and spend it however you like."

"But I can't just take your money for no reason." Angela felt uneasy about using it.

Scott stopped walking. "You think it's for no reason?"

"Isn't it?" Angela asked.

Scott pressed his lips together. Angela wondered if she had said something wrong.

"And where are you taking me?" Angela didn't know where Scott was leading her.

"You're coming to stay with me."

Scott put Angela in the car and said, "You'll stay with me for now."

"I don't want to!"

"She'll keep coming after you. Do you want to be harassed?"

"I can stay at a hotel. Just drop me off at any nearby hotel."

"If Grandpa finds out you're at a hotel, he'll kill me."

"I won't tell your grandpa." Angela felt that staying at the Coleman Villa wasn't appropriate since their marriage was just an agreement.

"No way!" Scott was firm and drove them back to the Coleman Villa.

In the car, Angela checked her savings. Her studio wasn't very big and had only recently started making a profit. She had spent a lot setting it up, so her savings were limited.

But knowing Omari was in trouble, Angela transferred all her money to him.

She sent Omari a message: [Omari, Mom said your company is having some trouble. This isn't much, but I hope it helps.]

Omari was indeed having a tough time. Zander was causing trouble for the Turner family everywhere.

The projects the Ross family had helped with were now being suppressed by them, making Omari's life difficult.

Omari accepted the money and replied, "Thanks, Angela. How have you been?"

Angela said, "I'm fine. Don't worry about me. If you need more money, let me know. I'll find a way to help."

Angela was willing to help because Omari had been good to her when she first came home. Their relationship had been good over the years, unlike with Cruz and Ainsley.
