Chapter 579 Take the King's DNA

Jane was busy packing and eager to leave with Dorian as soon as possible, preferably by tomorrow, to avoid any unforeseen complications.

A knock on the hospital room door interrupted her thoughts. Jane went to open it. "Who is it?"

As soon as she opened the door, she realized something was wrong.

Meanwhile, Xavier had effortlessly lured Jane out and, in broad daylight, had her tied up. This was Xavier's territory, after all. He had the power to rescue Jane, and he had the power to capture her.

Dorian heard the commotion and came out, only to find Jane missing. Instead, he saw Xavier standing at the door.

"Your Majesty Dorian Astor, I had Her Royal Highness Jane York taken away. I assure you, she won't be harmed. There are just some matters that are inconvenient to discuss with her around. Once I confirm a few things, if it's not as I suspect, I'll have her released immediately," Xavier said bluntly.

"Where's Grace?" Dorian asked.

Xavier was taken aback, not expecting Dorian to be more concerned about Grace than his fiancée.

"Why are you so concerned about my wife? You don't even know Grace, do you?"

Dorian himself didn't understand why he was so concerned about Grace. He just had a vague sense of anticipation, a desire to see her. It was a feeling he couldn't quite explain, like a guiding force.

"Grace is kind of a benefactor to me. I want to thank her in person."

"She's downstairs, having coffee with Robert."

Dorian nodded. "When are you planning to get married?"

At the mention of marriage, Xavier couldn't help but smile. "We're planning to get the marriage license next month. The wedding is being arranged."

Xavier was organizing the wedding himself, wanting to give Grace a grand ceremony. The wedding dress was already being prepared, and he would take Grace to try it on in the next few days.

Dorian nodded again, but he couldn't shake a faint sadness, a feeling like something precious to him was being taken away, even though it had nothing to do with him.

"Alright, let me know when the wedding is. I'll come to attend."

"No problem. Grace will be very happy if you come."

"Okay." Dorian nodded, then asked, "You mentioned Elizabeth before. She..."

At the mention of her name, Dorian felt a pang in his heart. "She..."

His voice choked up, and he didn't know what to say.

"Is she in Skigeth?" Dorian asked.

"Patrick dug up her grave and stole her ashes, using them to force Grace to marry his son, trying to get all her inheritance. The ashes are now with Grace."

Dorian's mouth opened, and his fists clenched.

Dug up Elizabeth's grave and stole her ashes.

These words were so harsh to Dorian's ears.

How insane must someone be to dig up another person's ashes?

"Do you smoke?"

Seeing Dorian's silence, Xavier took out a cigarette and offered it to him.

Dorian didn't usually smoke, but at that moment, he suddenly wanted one.

"Thanks." Dorian took a cigarette, and Xavier handed him a lighter.

The cigarette was quickly finished, and Dorian stubbed it out, ready to throw it in the trash.

Xavier said, "Give it to me. You can't just toss cigarette butts here. I'll take care of it outside later."

"No need to trouble you. Where should I throw it? I'll do it myself," Dorian replied, not wanting to burden Xavier with such a trivial task.

Xavier pointed. "Just in the trash can outside."

Dorian walked over and dropped it in the ashtray on top of the trash can. The ashtray was surprisingly clean.

After putting it down, Xavier said, "I'll head back now. Just wanted to let you know. Don't worry about Her Royal Highness Jane York. I guarantee her safety."

Dorian nodded. He felt that Xavier didn't seem like a bad person, and Grace wasn't a bad person either.

As Xavier turned to leave, he sent a message to Dominic.

Dominic quickly came over and took the cigarette butt away.

Xavier went downstairs to find Grace. He wasn't comfortable leaving her alone with another man, worried she might be taken away.

Dorian, who had been upstairs, thought for a moment and followed Xavier downstairs.

Xavier entered the café where Grace and Robert were finishing their conversation. Seeing Xavier, they prepared to leave.

Grace waved to Robert. "See you next time in Aetheria."

"Sure," Robert nodded.

Xavier placed his hand on Grace's waist and led her to the car outside.

From a distance, Dorian saw this and caught a glimpse of Grace's profile. His head throbbed with pain, as if something was piercing his nerves.

Dorian clutched his head, breathing heavily, his eyes fixed on Grace and Xavier as they left, only able to see Grace's back.

Grace. Dorian wanted to call out her name, but the pain in his head was too intense.

At that moment, Grace paused, looking around, but saw nothing.

"What's wrong?" Xavier noticed her hesitation.

"Nothing," Grace replied.

It just felt like someone was calling her.

The car was parked by the curb. Xavier opened the passenger door for Grace and then bent down to fasten her seatbelt.

Only then did Xavier get into the driver's seat and drive away.

Dorian watched the car leave, unable to take his eyes off it.

Grace... Grace...

Why did this Grace feel so special to him, and why was the feeling so unprecedentedly painful?

Robert came out of the café, ready to return to the hospital, when he saw Dorian.

"Dorian? Why are you down here?"

"Grace?"

"Grace has left. What about Jane? Didn't she say she was going back to Aetheria?"

Dorian replied, "She might not be going back for a few days. She's been invited as a guest."

Robert was surprised. "Who invited her so suddenly?"

Jane was visiting Vesperia for the first time and didn't know anyone. Who could have invited her?

Dorian didn't explain clearly, and Robert assumed it was some Vesperian socialites who had heard Jane was in town and invited her over.

But this was good, giving Jane a chance to enjoy her time here.

However, the "guest" Jane, now had her mouth taped shut, completely powerless to resist.

Xavier wanted to show Jane that she wasn't as noble as she thought. As a prisoner, with her fate in someone else's hands, she was even less than an ordinary person.
