Chapter 453 Accompanying Grace for a Prenatal Checkup, I Am the Child's Father

Kelly grabbed Grace's hand, almost in tears, "Grace, I never meant to hurt you. If you ever need my help or want to know anything about the Montgomery family, I can tell you directly. I'll be your spy. Can you pretend you didn't see anything?"

Grace looked at her, "So, it's really Patrick's child?"

Kelly bit her lip, "Yes."

Even though she had guessed it, Grace was still shocked.

Kelly was Patrick's daughter-in-law what she did really shattered Grace's worldview.

For a moment, Grace didn't know whether Kelly or Madison was more formidable. Both of them would sacrifice anything for their interests.

"Aren't you afraid of this being discovered? If Ryan finds out, what do you think he'll do? And your eldest son's parentage, Ryan doesn't know about that yet, does he?" Grace thought Kelly was really bold.

Kelly said, "Grace, you have no idea about my situation. No one in the Montgomery family likes me; I have no status at all."

"Ryan is infertile; he has health issues. That's why I had this bad plan. If this is discovered, the Montgomery family won't let me go. Only by having Patrick's child can I reestablish myself in the Montgomery family. If I get pregnant, I can't hide it, but at least it won't cost me my life."

"I know in your heart, you think I'm scheming and ruthless, but it's not easy for me either."

"Alright, you should leave now." Grace didn't want to see Kelly anymore.

Women like Kelly were scarier than Madison.

If Madison had Kelly's brains, she wouldn't have been taught a lesson by Daniel's wife.

"Grace, are you pregnant too?" Kelly asked.

"None of your business."

"Then why did you come here alone?"

As soon as Kelly finished speaking, a male voice came from the side, "Who said she came alone?"

The voice startled Grace. She turned her head and saw Xavier walking up to her.

Xavier's appearance here really shocked her. Hadn't he left Skigeth for Oakworth?

Seeing Xavier, Kelly shut her mouth. She knew Xavier was someone she couldn't afford to provoke.

"Don't make yourself out to be so miserable and others so happy. Grace's previous family wasn't much better than yours. You just chose different paths. You chose to live without dignity, while Grace chose to live with her feet on the ground. She achieved her success through her efforts."

"Her company is very successful, and it's all her hard work. She didn't rely on anyone, especially not the Coleman family."

"You brought this on yourself. In other words, you deserve it. You're smart and self-aware, so put away your schemes. If you dare to do anything to Grace, I guarantee you won't be able to bear the consequences." Xavier's voice was cold as he naturally pulled Grace into his arms.

Kelly shook her head in fear, "I won't, I don't dare."

"Still not leaving?" Xavier had no kind words for anyone other than Grace.

Xavier didn't care why Kelly was here, whether she was pregnant, or whose child it was.

Kelly left in a sorry state. Grace's expression paused. Xavier's words had touched her heart.

She knew how she had achieved her success, but she didn't expect Xavier to know as well.

She looked at him, "Why are you here? Didn't you go back to Oakworth? You lied to me!"

"No, you have a prenatal checkup. I'm the father of the child, so of course, I have to come."

"How did you know I had a prenatal checkup? Did you investigate or monitor me?"

"Neither. I guessed. You asked Mason a few days ago when I would return. I calculated the time; your last checkup was before the New Year, so it was likely you would have another one soon. I decided to stay a couple more days, and it turns out I guessed right."

"Grace, why can't we do this together? I'm also the father of the child. I have the right to know about the child's condition."

Xavier's eyes showed hurt. Grace had kept the prenatal checkup from him, showing she still didn't trust him.

But when Xavier lowered his eyes and saw that Grace was still wearing his hand chain, it all seemed less important.

Grace hadn't taken it off, so she must still have feelings for him!

"This is my child; it has nothing to do with you." Grace placed her hand on her belly. If Xavier tried to fight for custody in the future, she wouldn't allow it.

"This is our child. Come on, it's almost your turn. Look at the other kids; they all have their dads with their moms. Our child can't be the only one without a dad."

Xavier successfully coaxed Grace because, thinking about it, she realized he had a point.

Xavier took Grace's checkup papers and led her to the other side, signing his name wherever needed.

Grace soon went into the examination room. Xavier asked, "I'm the father. Can I go in?"

"Yes."

Grace's baby was over four months old. At that age, the baby already had a distinct form. When the instrument slid over Grace's belly, Xavier saw the baby on the screen and felt an indescribable excitement.

That was his baby, his and Grace's child. He was going to be a father!

Xavier had never thought he would have a child. Before coming to Skigeth, he hadn't thought he would get any woman pregnant.

Although the baby was a surprise and an accident, Xavier was now looking forward to its arrival.

He wanted both Grace and the baby!

The doctor said, "At this stage, you should be able to feel the baby move. The parents can also talk to the baby more. Come for regular checkups. You both look so good; the baby will surely be beautiful too."

"Thank you, doctor!"

Xavier was clearly more excited than Grace. As soon as Grace sat up, Xavier placed his hand on her belly.

The rounded belly already had a shape. Feeling the baby's presence, Xavier was grateful he hadn't been too far from Grace. Otherwise, he couldn't imagine how much he would regret it.

In front of the doctor, Grace couldn't say much and let Xavier feel the baby.

When the doctor left, Grace hurried to get up. Xavier said, "Lie down a bit longer. The report will be out soon, and I'll go get it."

Grace grabbed Xavier's hand. Xavier was delighted, thinking Grace didn't want him to leave.

Before he could say anything, Grace took off the hand chain.

"Take it back. It's your mother's. You should keep it safe. It's valuable; don't lose it."

Xavier stopped Grace from taking it off.

"I said, once I give something, I don't take it back. If you don't want it, throw it away."

Grace said, "That won't work on me. If you really don't want it, I will throw it away."

A flicker of something passed through Xavier's eyes, and then he nodded, "Okay."

He was gambling that Grace wouldn't throw the hand chain away.

If she did, it didn't matter. He would pick it up again. Xavier was now thick-skinned enough that even digging through the trash wasn't out of the question.
