Chapter 015 A Jealous Xavier?
In the end, Grace didn’t throw up; she simply rinsed her mouth with water. Then she scrubbed her hands several times with hand soap, washing off any trace of Tom's touch. She splashed her face with water two more times, and once she felt a bit more alert, she decided to leave the bar.
As she was prepared to leave, Grace noticed a man in a dark suit. Standing nearly 6.2 feet tall, he resembled a deity from Olympus, illuminated by the bar light. His presence exuded an innate nobility and aloofness, accompanied by a compelling aura that demanded attention.
‘Xavier? So when that guy said a big shot had booked the place, he was talking about Xavier?’ Grace thought.
“Mr. Montgomery, good evening,” Grace greeted as she approached him.
Xavier, however, was cold as ice, with no intention of responding. He acted as if he didn’t recognize Grace at all. Grace wouldn’t let it embarrass her. She needed to get the contract signed by Tom. She couldn't let her drinking be for nothing.
“Mr. Montgomery, enjoy your evening. I won’t disturb you further,” she said, ready to leave.
Yet, she hadn’t taken two steps before a strong hand clamped onto her arm. “Mr. Montgomery, Xavier, you...” she mumbled, confused.
Xavier's face was livid with anger. Grace didn't have a chance to say anything before he yanked her back and pulled her into the very private booth Tom had been occupying.
Victor stood by, jaw agape, absolutely baffled by the unfolding situation.
He wondered, "Has Xavier's taste always been so unique? Does he really like this unattractive woman? No wonder he hasn’t given a second glance to any of the women that have been set up for him. So, he doesn't like beautiful women, huh?"
The private room was suffused with the mingling scents of various alcoholic beverages and smoke, creating an unpleasant smell. Xavier frowned and sat down on the sofa nearby. However, as soon as he sat down, he felt something obstructing him.
Xavier pulled a condom from beneath the sofa cushion and tossed it in front of Grace. Already feeling dizzy from the alcohol, Grace stared at the object Xavier had found.
After examining it closely, she finally realized what it was. How could she not recognize it after they had gone through several condoms that night. She suddenly wasn’t sure how to react.
If her foundation hadn’t been too dark, her flushed cheeks would have been quite visible.
"Mr. Montgomery, do you always carry this with you?" she joked, despite the shooting embarrassment. Could it be that he’d gotten rid of everyone else just to be alone with her for a more intimate encounter?
The dim lighting of the private room highlighted Xavier's features, making his face even more strikingly handsome. The chain bracelet on his wrist added an air of mystery and restraint, a detail that could drive other women wild.
"Grace, be clear about who brought this," he demanded.
Grace sat down right beside Xavier, propping her cheek up as she looked at the charming man. As she moved closer, the scent of alcohol around her grew stronger. Her red lips were just in front of Xavier when she said, "Mr. Montgomery, you look as if you're here to catch someone in the act.”
He felt extremely displeased and said through gritted teeth, "Are you looking for trouble again?"
"Just a joke. Mr. Montgomery, can't you take a joke? Don’t overthink it, I'm here strictly for business, I'm a professional," Grace remarked.
"Do professionals get so close they’re almost in someone's lap when they're discussing business? Why don't you just sit in his lap to talk?" Xavier stated, cynically.
Grace paused for a moment. "You saw that?" She had indeed gotten a bit closer to Tom while threatening him, although she had kept her voice down.
"Mr. Montgomery, you sound a bit displeased. I almost thought you were jealous," she quipped.
Grace’s words lingered in the air as she encountered Xavier's stern glare, implying she had overstepped. It was just a joke. Although meant as a jest, she understood that given Xavier's position and their limited interactions, he wouldn't be jealous.
"Mr. Montgomery, you should know better than I do what people in the business world are like. Those condoms are theirs, nothing to do with me," Grace explained.
"Knowing what the business crowd is like, why did you still come here?" Xavier probed.
"Mr. Montgomery, are you worried about me?" Grace blinked, smiling radiantly with her bright eyes.
"Mr. Montgomery, you don't have to worry. I'm so unattractive, no one would be interested in me," she reassured him.
Her current appearance was her best camouflage. Ryan had said her face was repulsive. Much to her chagrin, she hadn't repulsed him to death!
No one would give her a second glance, but surprisingly Tom seemed to have some interest in her. If she had known, she would have put on an even uglier makeup before stepping out.
"You are engaged to Ryan," Xavier reminded her. "The Montgomery family certainly wouldn't want a promiscuous woman to be their mistress."
Grace laughed, "Mr. Montgomery, that's a good point. So, are you saying if I get intimate with a few more people, Ryan might break off our engagement?"
"You could try!" Xavier said fiercely.
For a moment Grace thought he might strangle her. But she didn't want to test that theory. Even if it would work, she had no interest in other men.
"Mr. Montgomery, since you've booked the place, I won't disturb you any longer. I'll leave if there's nothing else," Grace said, picking up the contract she had brought.
She had already offended Tom and even threatened him. Regardless, she had to secure this contract.
Standing up, she felt a bit dizzy, stumbled, and fell.
Xavier quickly caught Grace by the waist, pulling her into his arms. As a result, she sat down on his thigh.
Her face was inches from his, their breaths mingling. The sharp scent of cedar filled her senses. Looking into his deep eyes, it seemed like she was about to be enchanted by him.
"Mr. Montgomery..." Grace began.
