Chapter 354 Xavier Knows Everything

Mason leaned back and said, "Ms. Lewis's mom stashed away a huge fortune for her over twenty years ago. And that money's been growing like crazy by managed. It could even dwarf the Montgomery Group."

Even Xavier was floored. Evelyn had that kind of cash?

Evelyn's background seemed pretty average. Xavier had looked into it and there was no sign of that kind of wealth.

Plus, it seemed like the Lewis family had no clue about this money, and maybe even Grace was in the dark.

"So, what's this got to do with the crystal?" Xavier cut to the chase.

Mason explained, "From what we dug up, the crystal is like a key. The person managing the money will only hand it over to Ms. Lewis if they see the crystal and her marriage certificate."

A crystal and a marriage certificate?

Xavier's mind started piecing things together.

Suddenly, it all made sense. No wonder Patrick was so hell-bent on Grace marrying Ryan, no matter what.

Patrick's game plan was clear now. If Kelly wasn't pregnant with Ryan's kid, Patrick probably wouldn't have let Ryan marry her.

"Can we get our hands on the crystal?" Xavier asked.

This money was Grace's, not Patrick's.

It was a huge amount, but Xavier didn't care about the cash. Grace could do whatever she wanted with it, but there was no way Patrick was getting it.

Patrick was a snake and would keep scheming. He might even try to marry Grace off to someone else to get the money.

So, the crystal had to stay out of Patrick's reach.

Mason sighed, "It's gonna be tough. I had someone sneak into the Montgomery house and search the place under the pretense of cleaning, but we came up empty."

Patrick had hidden it well, but it wasn't impossible to find.

Xavier's eyes were sharp. "Kelly knows where it is. Keep an eye on her."

"Got it," Mason nodded.

"Anything else?" Xavier pressed.

"Nothing else," Mason admitted.

Xavier continued, "Evelyn couldn't have that much money with a regular background. Dig deeper. Find out if she had a beef with my mom or if my mom found out something that got her killed."

Mentioning his mom, Donna, brought a cold edge to Xavier's eyes.

Donna's death was a wound that never healed. Over the years, the trail had gone cold, but he couldn't let Donna's death go unavenged.

Grace was just an ordinary girl who got caught up with the Montgomery family.

Xavier's dad was a cheater and died too soon, leaving Xavier without enough time to get strong.

"I'll get someone on it right away. But Mr. Montgomery, this might be tough. We found nothing on Evelyn before. If she had another identity, the truth could be pretty scary. Ms. Lewis..." Mason trailed off.

Mason knew Xavier got it—Evelyn might have been living under a different name; the way she handled things showed she was no amateur.

Without knowing Evelyn's real identity, finding her in this big world could take forever.

Digging up the past might also drag Grace into it.

"Just look into it," Xavier said firmly.

Xavier knew Grace's hidden past had to be full of secrets.

Even if he dug up some dirt, he'd do everything to keep Grace safe.

After spending so much time with her, he knew she was pure and innocent and didn't want her dragged into any mess.

What else was Evelyn hiding, stuff even Grace didn't know?

He was clear about one thing: he liked Grace and knew how much she meant to him.

No matter what he found out, his feelings for Grace wouldn't change.

Grace took a day to rest and get over the jet lag. The next day, she was all set for the big signing with the company in Country E.

Grace, Lily, and the legal team headed to the company.

When they got there, Grace was shocked to see Madison.

"What are you doing here?" Grace asked, genuinely surprised.

Madison wasn't a competitor, and the company hadn't picked her.

Then Grace remembered the perfume competition's award ceremony was in Country E, so it made sense for Madison to be around. But seeing her at this company was weird.

Madison jumped in first, "Grace, are you scared to admit you used dirty tricks to get this contract?"

"What dirty tricks? I have no idea what you're talking about. If you're here just to watch me sign the contract, sorry, it's confidential." Grace said, trying to head inside.

Madison blocked her way. "You know what you did. It was supposed to be a fair competition with no connections. But you used your connections to get in. My proposal was better, my product was better. Why wasn't the Lewis Group chosen? And these folks, they're from the companies that didn't get picked. I paid for their travel and stay to see why they lost!"

Grace then noticed a group of people nearby.

Madison, now with Daniel's backing, had the cash to bring them along.

Grace smirked coldly. "Fine, let's show all of you why you lost."

Lily, standing next to Grace, looked worried and tugged at her arm. "Ms. Lewis, she seems really hostile. We didn't do anything wrong, but if Madison has a backup plan and ticks off this company, what if they cancel the contract?"

Grace replied, "Don't worry. If Madison wants to stir up trouble, someone will handle her."

Madison, still looking smug, knew this company in Country E was a big deal. The owner was the brother of the country's princess and was known for his integrity. All their deals were like bids, fair and square, with no room for personal feelings or corruption.

With his status, a successful deal here could open up more opportunities in Country E.

Soon, a tall, stunning secretary came downstairs and said to Grace, "Ms. Lewis, our boss is waiting for you upstairs."

Grace then looked at Madison and the others, inviting them to come upstairs too.

The huge conference room had an amazing view; unlike domestic buildings, it had a unique and striking style. The scenery through the floor-to-ceiling windows was breathtaking.

But no one had mood to enjoy the view.

Grace was there to sign the contract, which was already set up. The company's boss was there, along with the consultant, Jett.
