Chapter 124 Look, Grace Was Cheating You on a Date
"I'm James."
"Don't you have a last name?" Grace asked.
"I do, but why should I tell you? All you need to know is that my whole family is abroad, we have a company, and an annual income of millions is no problem. Although you are a bit older, I can still give you a chance," James said impolitely.
Grace fell silent.
Angela is only twenty-four now, while James is thirty-two. How dare he look down on Angela's age?
James didn't notice Grace's displeasure at all, he continued, "If you marry me, you can come abroad with me. I'm way out of your league."
Although Grace is not Angela, not here to date James, she still felt uncomfortable hearing this.
"My family is not poor either. Why do you think I'm the reacher?" Grace retorted.
The Turner family may not be well-known nationwide, but in Skigeth, they were quite a powerful family.
"The family property won't be yours in the future, can you even get a share of it later?" James said. "I'm the only son in my family, all the family property will be mine in the future. My mom likes a lively environment, you just need to be responsible for giving me more sons. Also, our family is not open to just anyone, you must learn the rules first, you must serve me every day, take care of the house while I work outside."
Grace lowered her head, said coldly, "Learn the rules? Does your family have a throne to inherit?"
"Why are you unhappy? You speak as if you are so noble. Aren't you trying to marry into a wealthy family?" James knew that Angela was the least favored at home.
"I never wanted to marry into a wealthy family, and besides, an annual income of just millions doesn't qualify as a wealthy family, the threshold for a wealthy family is not that low," Grace countered.
"You!" James got angry. "You, a commoner like you, dare to look down on my family. Let me tell you, no one besides me would want to marry you. Look at yourself, no one wants an ugly woman like you."
Hearing what James said, Grace had just picked up the glass of water in her hand, but before she could splash it, someone else did it first.
Angela looked furious.
She came back from the restroom and saw James chatting with Grace, obviously mistaking Grace for her.
But the words he said made Angela feel disgusted.
Angela knew that the Turner family wouldn't choose a good man for her, but sending such a man in front of her, was it meant to disgust her?
"Stop!" Grace called out.
The James who was about to leave heard Grace speak, his steps halted, and the next moment, the water in Grace's hand splashed on his face.
"You're not worthy of dating, get lost!" Grace said.
James was furious. "What are you doing?"
He lunged forward to hit her, but Grace swiftly kicked him in the belly, making him fall to the ground.
James still wanted to lunge at her, but Grace immediately called the waiters, and a few of them dragged James away.
Grace was ready to leave with Angela, but she saw Victor.
"Mr. Hastings." Grace didn't expect to meet Victor here. "What a coincidence."
Grace wondered, 'How long had Victor been here? Did he witness what just happened? Victor seemed to have a good relationship with Xavier, he shouldn't go and tell Xavier anything, right?'
"What a coincidence, I made an appointment with a friend here and came over to say hello," Victor said with a smile.
Grace felt guilty, wondering 'this friend shouldn't be Xavier, right?'
Seemingly understanding Grace's thoughts, Victor said, "It's not Xavier, he's busy every day, no time to have dinner with me."
"Since Mr. Hastings made an appointment with a friend, then go ahead, we'll leave first," Grace responded.
"Do you want to join us?" Victor invited.
"No need, Mr. Hastings, we'll leave now." Grace took Angela's hand and left quickly.
It wasn't until they got back to the car that Grace apologized sincerely.
"I'm sorry, Angela, it seems like I messed up your date. I told him he got the wrong person, but he didn't believe me," Grace explained.
"It's okay, with a man like that, he doesn't deserve to date me."
"He's indeed not a good man, but he will definitely speak ill of you in front of the Turner family, what will you do then?" Grace was worried.
Knowing the Turner family's character, they would definitely call Angela over to scold her again.
Although Angela seemed cheerful, she was still sentimental. Although she disliked the Turner family, she had never said anything harsh to the family members.
Angela comforted, "I'm used to it. If I listen to my parents and really marry that man, my life will be ruined. Don't blame yourself. It was supposed to be my date, but you ended up being wronged. Those who think you're not pretty are fools."
"I'm not wronged, he said his name is James, but he doesn't want to say his last name. Do you know what his last name is?" Grace found it strange that he only mentioned his first name when introducing himself.
"He probably thinks his last name is too common to say, his name is James Smith," Angela replied.
In the restaurant, Victor also returned to his private room.
The scene just now was more exciting than a movie or TV drama, Victor was glad he recorded it.
He quickly sent the video to Xavier and messaged: [Take a look, your girlfriend is dating behind your back.]
When Xavier saw the message from Victor, he was in a meeting.
The meeting at the DG Skigeth branch was about some finished drawings for upcoming projects. After Xavier made some modifications, he projected them onto the big screen with his computer.
At that moment, a message popped up, shocking everyone present.
'Mr. Montgomery has a girlfriend?'
'More importantly, that woman is so bold as to date others behind Mr. Montgomery's back?'
'In this world, there are few men as outstanding as Mr. Montgomery, what was that woman thinking?'
This message raised a storm of conjecture among the attendees in the meeting room.
Seeing this message, Xavier didn't need to guess who Victor was talking about.
The atmosphere in the meeting room became subtly tense, Xavier was afraid Victor would send more inappropriate messages, so he directly shut down the computer.
"Is there anything else unclear?" Xavier spoke up.
Everyone shook their heads vigorously. "No."
They felt that the temperature around them seemed colder than before, and Mr. Montgomery's voice was also off.
"Meeting adjourned!"
No one dared to linger for a second, they hurriedly left.
After everyone had left, Xavier clicked the video, where an old man was sitting opposite Grace, who had no merits at all, let alone compared to him.
Xavier recalled Omari's absurd suggestion for Grace to enter into a fake marriage the last time they were at the restaurant. Grace had claimed not to care about it then, but it seemed she had acted swiftly in response.
